NBC has verified that her attorney presented the app receipts, and she rented that bike for one minute (minimum charge), and the bike's matching ID number is visible in the video. That kind of suggests that NBC news and others are flat-out lying, though. They claim to have reviewed the original, unpixelated receipt which obviously contains her personal info so is publically redacted. I mean, is that really the shade being thrown?

ETA: the arguments put out by self claimed Citibike users in that article are ridiculous. They say her story is fishy because you can't rent out two bikes at once. They are somehow overlooking that she claims the guy shoved her back into the locking dock, where he is seen restraining her in the video. That is 100% consistent with her one minute $0 rental receipt, which would otherwise make no sense.

And of course, saying she just waltzed up to some random group of five young guys and tried to jack their rental bike is one of those extraordinary claims that we hear about.

And I still want to know who exactly posted this video and it's accompanying narrative. They got some splainin to do.

Looking at the Citi bike Karen thing again, it seems that attorney Ben Crump was the original releaser, and one of the guys in the group of 5 was the one who recorded it. Crump has since reviewed and acknowledged the legitimacy of the receipts presented and withdrawn his inflammatory tweets.

What he hasn't done is to apologize to the woman for the hateful **** storm he has rained down on her. Her husband has been tracked down and has also been getting death threats, in addition obviously to her. My guess is that she sues the bejesus out of Crump, and possibly the recorder who initially lied about the whole gig. Maybe a swat at the guy who physically restrained her too.

This appears to be accurate. She has the receipts to show that she rented the one bike they were arguing over for about a minute before it was re-locked, then she rented another shortly afterward.

So I went back and read all of my posts in this thread I have come to the conclusion you are completely full of ****. At no time have I implied that whites are more likely to be assaulted by blacks than they are whites.

I believe you were unaware of the disparity between interracial violence between blacks and whites and your knee-jerk reaction was to call me out because you thought I was lying. When I posted the actual numbers (instead of what I had misremembered), you tried to shift the argument from interracial violence to intra-racial violence. It does not explain why she would go up to this one bike when there were others available, and mount it and secure it on her app while the guy stood there holding the handlebars. No solid proof yet, but seems a brazen claim to make up out of the blue.

That's the only conclusion I cab reach from the information available. If the bike is docked it's available, I assume. It was docked for 6 mins...
