Business attire is stupid.

Women have generally been given much more leeway traditionally in what is acceptable business attire, so it is a bit rich complaining when they're given rules that are still less strict than the men's. That said, both should be the same and much more loose.

But what do I know about fashion? I'm fine with everyone wearing tight sportswear or robes and cloaks, like every scifi movie has told me the future would dress like. (Which are pretty solid trends for the last twenty years come to think of it.)

Imagine if a LOT of members of the Missouri congress turned up to work dressed like that...

We actually have such people at our work! They are professional clown doctors. Unlike those in Missouri congress who are neither doctors nor professional.

I was thinking that maybe it would work better with gold gladiator sandals. There's not actually a lot of menswear that you can say that about.

Does this count as 'stupid'? Or disturbing? Or just sad?

From: AP News
A failed Republican state legislative candidate who authorities say was angry over losing the election last November and made baseless claims that the election was “rigged” against him was arrested Monday in connection with a series of drive-by shootings targeting the homes of Democratic lawmakers in New Mexico’s largest city. Albuquerque Police Chief Harold Medina held a news conference Monday evening hours after SWAT officers arrested Solomon Pena.... at least five people, including Pena, were involved in the shootings. Pena is accused of paying the others to carry out at least two of the shootings

Note: according to the article he lost the election by 48% but still claims it was 'rigged'.

But I'm sure there's no connection between the right-wing rhetoric and these shootings.

This seems like the appropriate thread for this article:

Wyoming Republicans take a stand, want to ban electric cars

So basically it seems Wyoming Republicans seem to have decided promoting EVs is some sort of spiteful attack on their state and decided to waste time and energy accordingly.

Hmmm... seems to me these morons are following in the footsteps of their beloved Trump's toddler level antics. I think Super Nanny Jo may need to be sent to Wyoming to sort them out:

"The politics of resentment come through loud and clear from the bill's primary sponsor, State Senator Jim Anderson. Anderson told the Cowboy State Daily that if successful, Wyoming's legislature would inform the rest of the world that "if you donít like our petroleum cars, well, we donít like your electric cars."

Hi Jim,

No, we outside your little coterie of numpties don't like your petroleum cars. Especially American petroleum cars. Haven't for many years. Aren't going to buy any because we have been getting much better petroleum cars from other countries that aren't America. So you can keep them. As for electric cars, we will consider those seriously and not just actively avoid them because of some stupid fetish for sniffing petrol and diesel fumes. Already they are proving cheaper to run in a lot of cases. So you good ol' boys stick with your rolling-coal anachronisms of the early 20th century, while the rest of the country and the world move forward in the 21st.

Cheers from Oz.

Are they going to set up checkpoints at the borders and prevent electrics from driving in? Or just stop tourists in Teslas and shoot them?

We haven't bought an American made car since 2002 (Jeep). They were once the height of quality and technology, but that is far in the past. We've had Mazda, Volvo, Porsche, Subaru, VW, and Honda which all surpassed any American car.

I do not recall the name of the film, but there was a mocumentary about a neighborhood in Jackson Hole where a bunch of houses are owned by rich people that don't actually live there. Nobody really lives there. The film treated the situation as a mystery and speculated that the servants ate their masters in the houses.

Really? Or did you mean "American brand car". We've had more than one Honda that was made in Ohio. Lots of "foreign" brands are assembled in the USA.

You do realize the definition of a 'rogue' is 'an unprincipled or dishonest person, a scoundrel', don't you?

I'm guessing that they were thinking 'lovable rogue' rather than 'rogue'.

Fentanyl is exterminating a generation of Americans and Biden is allowing it to happen. Americans are DYING because of Bidenís open border. CLOSE THE BORDER AND DO IT NOW!!
ďChina remains the primary source of fentanyl and fentanyl-related substances trafficked through international mail and express consignment operations environment, as well as the main source for all fentanyl-related substances trafficked into the United States,Ē the DEA report says.Jan 8, 2023

People like this in Congress scare the crap out of me. It just goes to prove that a person can be 'intelligent' and a complete moron at the same time.

Linky.
But hey, he's just some hick moron from Texas, right? Oh, wait: He's also an MD, a Rear Admiral, and former White House Physician!
Do look at the rest of his twitter feed, it's even more insane.

Back in 2015 Republicans wanted NASA to stop studying climate change and focus on space travel.

Quote:
House Science Committee Chairman Lamar Smith, a Texas Republican, last week moved a two-year NASA bill through his committee that would shift money away from the Earth Science program to spend on planetary exploration. "There are 13 other agencies involved in climate-change research, but only one that is responsible for space exploration," Smith said at a recent hearing.

Sen. Ted Cruz, another Texan, who oversees the Commerce subcommittee in charge of NASA, has likewise said it's time for NASA to refocus on space exploration. At a hearing earlier this year, Cruz said that the "core function of NASA is to explore space" and "NASA in the current environment has lost its full focus on that core mission."

Donnie Jr. likes to attack Hunter Biden but there's a lot of speculation that he's no stranger to illegal drugs himself. He doesn't even make sense in this from his Instagram account:

Quote:
On Wednesday, January 25, the political guru, 45, uploaded a picture of Donald Trump Jr., President Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton which read, "Select all squares with people who can declassify documents." In the photo, the only picture checked off was his father's.

Quote:
"Yup. Fact check disclaimer this uses the tent has as opposed to had while they were in power so I just want to make sure we are clear that it had the power when the documents and question were taken because while everyone understands that I know Iíll be hit," Trump Jr. wrote.

You don't say.

At least they ticked the only "square" showing. The others are progressives.

Kari Lake seems to think she's running a shadow government in Arizona, calls for special legislative session.

Quote:
"I plan to call a special session to get to one day voting. Get rid of these mail-in ballots which are fraught with fraud, and take on and tackle election integrity and reform once and for all. And people want that. They absolutely do."

No, because she isn’t the governor. She can call a special session of her Looney Tunes Caucus is she wants, and they can howl at the moon together. That won’t change anything, either.
