When USA Today is actually getting into it rather than giving some milk toast Disney take, you know you are wrong.

I look forward to what Cipollone has to say about the events of Jan. 6.

..with a strong tendency towards violence.
It would not at all surprise me if one of more members of the January 6 committee had an attempt made to assassinate them. Cheney and Kinzinger would be the most likely candidates, because Trump supporters (the mostly likely group any potential assassin would come from) will see them as traitors to their tribe. |

Yet somehow we get told that groups like antifa and BLM are the 'violent' ones.
Supreme court justices demand police protection after their decision that 13 year old girls should be forced to give birth to a rapist's baby. And Susan Collins called police after seeing a message written in chalk, that asked her "PLEASE" clean up your mess. |

One of the things I noticed about those voicemails to Cheney and Kinzinger was the callers' over reliance on the "f' word to express themselves. Erudite, they were not. They sounded like Trump's beloved "poorly educated".

Interesting...and I agree that "swearing fluency" indicates a larger vocabulary in general. However, that means that people have a greater repertoire of swear words to draw upon. In the case of the Trumpists calling Cheney and Kinzinger, they over relied on just one swear word: the F word. It constituted a large percentage of their entire rants. The C word was thrown in a few times for Cheney and Pelosi but that's a standard favorite of all men, especially, with no class. Well, that and "split-tail".

The pessimist in me says you're probably right.
The optimist has a tiny little glimmer of hope...since in some cases, prosecutions may be carried out by individuals who are less concerned with optics/safety. Ok, I can imagine Garland might be hesitant to charge Stubby McBonespurs based on dubious excuses. (Oh know! Bad optics to charge an ex-president! He has immunity! The GOP might retaliate! etc.) But someone like Fulton County DA Fani Willis (investigating Trump for election shenanigans) doesn't have to worry about how things look on the national stage, nor about how republicans might try to charge Democrats, since she's not a national political figure. And Leticia James doesn't seem to be backing down (although admittedly her case is civil rather than criminal). |

06/1972 - Watergate Hotel break-in and the kidnapping of Martha Mitchell. 07/1972 - WAPO Reporters Woodward & Bernstein begin investigation. 09/1972 - WAPO publishes article about possible Republican involvement in break-in. 03/1973 - Grand Jury indicts the "Watergate Seven". 08/1973 - The Saturday Night massacre. 04/1974 - Nixon releases heavily edited transcripts of White House tapes. 08/1974 - The Smoking gun tapes reveal Nixon's involvement and he resigns to avoid impeachment. 10/1974 - The Watergate Seven go on trial. 01/1975 - Six of the seven were found guilty on all charges. The Watergate scandal resulted in 69 government officials being charged and 48 being found guilty. It took over two years to visit justice on these scumbags... the wheels of justice grind slowly, but relentlessly. |

Rep. Lofgren (J6C) says Cipollone in his interview was "honest", "candid", "did not contradict the testimony of other witnesses," and they did "learn a few new things". She was careful to point out that "not contradicting" is not necessarily the same as "confirming" because he may not have been present at certain events or could not remember.

He wouldn't have gotten the job without the pardon deal. The GOP was still an itsy bit loyal to Nixon and they controlled the firing of Agnew (so much for VPs really being the preferred replacement) and installing of Ford. You can bet that was part of the deal.
But let's get something else straight, what Nixon did paled in comparison to Drumpf. |
