I appreciate that.

But in a highly conservative country obsessed with and worshiping shallow shows of wealth, he is tall, putatively rich, moderately famous, and probably most relevant of all, male. That he was previously, and is now even more so, clinically insane and entirely unsuitable as a national leader is beside the point.

Meanwhile, MTG is short, relatively poor (i.e. not a billionaire), notorious rather than famous, and unfortunately (unless she can prove otherwise?), female. For many in the GOP, she should stop showing these unseemly displays of aggression and get back in the kitchen. She is a relative newcomer on the notoriety scene as well - no decades of history. The only common point with Diaper Don is probably some cross-eyed insanity, although I don't think she is quite as mad as he is. Perhaps that's a negative for the GOP, though...

In another group I belong to, I had a guy (retired low level State Dept and as racist as they come) proclaim that female politicians should be quieter and more polite than men and defer to men because people don't like "strident women".

Don't forget the Clinton murder list.

There's been an active disinfo industry that's been busy for quite some time.

How could I? Poor Vince Foster. Murdered by those horrible Clintons. Or has it been whittled down to Hillary doing the foul deed with her own bare hands?

Quote:
Clinton Body Count is a conspiracy theory asserting that former U.S. President Bill Clinton and his wife Hillary Clinton have had people assassinated, totaling as many as fifty or more. Many parts of it have been advanced by Newsmax publisher Christopher Ruddy, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, and others. Such accusations have been around at least since the 1990s, when a film called The Clinton Chronicles, produced by Larry Nichols and promoted by Rev. Jerry Falwell, accused Bill Clinton of multiple crimes including murder. This conspiracy theory has been debunked by the Lakeland Ledger, the Chicago Tribune, Snopes and others, who point to detailed death records, the unusually large circle of associates that a president is likely to have, and the fact that many of the people listed had been misidentified, or were still alive. Others had no known link to the Clintons.
I've never seen the right wing fear anyone as much as they feared Hillary Clinton. Only Obama comes close...and we know what their problem with him was.

Here's some new MTG fun. MTG getting into a shouting match with Dems on the Capitol steps about abortion. I mean this woman has zero class at all, my gawd.

https://www.mediaite.com/online/watc...capitol-steps/

snippet:

Quote:
“Taught in church, are you kidding me? Try being a Christian and supporting life!” Green retorted.

“You try being a Christian and try treating your colleagues decently,” Dingell said, briefly tripping on the steps in a fit of anger.

“Watch your step, lady, you’re going to fall down,” Greene responded. “Control yourself.”

What a gal! I'm so embarrassed for my country.

I see MTG is still spreading the lie that the bill would allow abortion up to birth. She's making the same claim Pence did. Politifact rated it false:

Quote:
Pence said Biden and Harris support abortion "up to the moment of birth."

Biden and Harris have not said they support abortion "up to the moment of birth." They say they support the landmark Supreme Court case that legalized abortion and allowed states to regulate it after fetal viability. They also say they are against state laws that conflict with the case, and would work to codify the ruling into law.

One expert said that Democrats’ intent to codify Roe could preempt state laws restricting abortion, and that a related case has a health exception broad enough to allow abortions "up to the moment of birth." But several other experts said that supporting Roe or related cases is not the same as supporting abortion "up to the moment of birth." They said that generally, people who support Roe mean they support the existence of a right to have an abortion or to not criminalize it.

Pence’s claim creates a wrong impression of Biden’s and Harris’ statements and of the common interpretation of cases that affirmed abortion rights.

We rate his claim False.

It's not the subject of the argument she cares about. It's about having an argument, the louder the better. All publicity is good publicity.

I can't find it now but her chief of staff quit after the shouting match fiasco. And IIRC they were a full-on MAGA head too.

Not out of any umbrage with Greene. He's a MAGA head for sure.

Quote:
Greene “asked me to come with her to Washington and help organize her office,” Parsons said. “After eight and a half months fighting the Socialist Democrats and RINOS [Republicans in Name Only] in DC, it’s time to move on.”
...
Parsons praised Greene in his statement as an “America First superstar who has become one of the leading policy-influencers in our party today.” He called working for her the “highlight of my professional career.”

Thanks for posting the link.

I agree that Parsons may have said the words that you quote. However, I choose not to believe that the chief of staff for such an odious human being tells the truth all the time. "Highlight of his professional career" can go on his linked in page while he thanks his maker that he doesn't have to interact with this nut case moving forward.

tl;dr - he's a liar and she's an idiot and I question the timing.

You may be right. From the link:
Quote:

Parsons was a gun-rights lobbyist in Georgia before he was hired by Greene, and he ran the nonprofit advocacy organization Georgia Gun Owners.

Georgia state Sen. Jen Jordan (D) told NPR station WABE in Atlanta early this year that Parsons was effective because he “was really willing to go after people, skirt the truth, say things that weren’t true.” He also used social media to “bully” people,” Jordan said.
Parsons also referred to the Biden administration as the "Communist Biden Admin."

There was a time in society when people would point at idiots like her and laugh. We no longer live in such a time, and that is unfortunate.

I used to work a night job in Boston before social media, the internet was still in its infancy. I was usually the only one there at night working on the fourth floor. Almost every night at about 3 or 4 a.m. "The Screamer" would appear in the alley below my window. He would scream about crazy **** until dawn. I couldn't make out most of what he screamed, but some of what I could was conspiracy theories, some was religious crap, and some was his paranoia. He's probably got a million followers now.

Marj has gotten into a spat with Lin Wood the 'attorney.'
  • He called her a "Communist."
  • She called him a "monster."
  • Wood says he "loves" Marjorie Taylor Greene but she might be part of the "deep state."
  • Greene wonders, "If Lin Wood has fought so hard against the election like he claims, even encouraging people to go in the Capitol on J6 [January 6], why isn't he a target of the J6 witch hunt?"

Details in this Newsweek story. What I found comically sad, Newsweek apparently felt the need to add this disclaimer.
Quote:
Communism calls for all property within society to be publicly owned while everyone is paid and taken care of collectively based on their needs. Nobody within the current federal government is advocating transitioning the U.S. to such a system.

Meanwhile, MTG 'unveiled' the real deal with the Green New Deal. Yep, that's right. COMMIES!

When discussing Communism, it's probably a good idea to assume that a significant number of people don't know what it actually is, beyond "scary bogeyman".
It's like the clip I've posted a few times from the documentary about the 2008 election "Right America: Feeling Wronged" in which a man declared the Democrats to be Socialists, and defined Socialism as "basically the policies of Hitler" and "the midpoint between Communism and something else that I can't remember".

And now, Marjorie Taylor Greene is asking if "Should America should have a nation divorce".

https://news.yahoo.com/people-think-...071226731.html

People Think Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Is ‘Calling For Civil War’ With New Twitter Poll

...

The conspiracy-peddling lawmaker polled her 448,300 Twitter followers Monday on whether they thought America should “have a national divorce.” She offered them three answers: “Yes, by R & D states”; “No, stay together;” and “Undecided.”

...

This is the first time since the mid-1800's that a sitting member of Congress has publicly asked such an inflammatory question.

But that commentators and writers on both sides have discussed before.

It isn't inherently a bad thing.

That would be problematic - R&D states don't actually exist. Every state is made up of both Rs and Ds.

In the 1800s, the demarcation was a little clearer - who had slavery and who didn't.

You should actually encourage this Great Separation. It's a great opportunity. But it needs to be MAGAchuds like MTG separated from everyone else. Physically. I'm sure there is an infested swamp in a bayou, a baked dried lake in a desert, or a soggy craggy peak in a wilderness that can be devoted to just them and their ilk. Do it, I say!

Not only that but there is no continuity of borders like in the Civil War. New England and some midwest states plus west coast are completely separated by red states. Add into that the changing demographics which tend to be swinging in favor of Dems, as in TX, and you really have a problem.

In case this fact has missed your keen eye for detail, ...

There is a significant number of differences between what commentators and writers are supposed to do and what elected leaders are supposed to do.

For example, every member of the US Congress takes the following oath prior to being seated in the US Congress:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God."

communist? Can Radical Rightists come up with something other than this already. Or at least be a bit more creative with the reasoning that leads to "...therefore she's a communist."

Their kind has been banging on about Satan for millennia, so it's safe to say that nothing gets old for them.

To quote Randal Monroe:
Quote:
There are more Trump voters in California than Texas, more Biden voters in Texas than New York, more Trump voters in New York than Ohio, more Biden voters in Ohio than Massachusetts, more Trump voters in Massachusetts than Mississippi, and more Biden voters in Mississippi than Vermont.
While the idea of having the Dunning-Kruger faction voluntarily pack up and leave to start their own country has an appeal, it quickly bogs down into a question of who is seceding from whom? I used to say that, "As a resident of Massachusetts I am a firm supporter of the Texas secessionist movement". But Texas is Purple now, trending to Blue. It's going to flip, in reality, if not in whatever electoral farce the GOP constructs there. I mean, what do we do with all the people living in Austin and Dallas?

The Austin and Dallas people can come to Phoenix. Less humidity and no tornadoes.

Tiny nitpick: the "so help me God" bit is added only if the electee chooses to add it

God help any electee who did not add it. Pun intended. I think the only thing worse than a 'socialistcommielibtard' to 'real patriots' is an atheist.
