Victoria's numbers are going down; NSW's are going up.

That's promising, but early days.

Any cases in the community while infectious are a problem.

NSW looks uglier every day. Pity you don't have a National Guard you could station at the border.

Hundreds of anti-lockdown protesters are currently gathered in Sydney CBD and some in Melbourne.

Wish we had a National Guard of psychologists.

Just as we are looking like coming out of lockdown next Tuesday these dickheads are breaking the law and probably spreading the virus. Have a look at the number of people in ICU in Sydney right now. ******* idiots.

Hundreds and some?

The Herald is claiming 15,000 in Sydney, and from the video embedded, that looks a fair estimate: https://www.nzherald.co.nz/world/cov...YWNYR6OIIKHQQ/

Melbourne had clearly lower numbers (and a much better-organised police response), but this video seems to show 1000+: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-LRdNqPHMs

The Sydney protest, on a day with another 160 new cases, doesn't say much for the sanity of those involved.

And it was all organised on social media. I'm shocked.

Meanwhile, in Adelaide, three dick-heads turned out and were fined for their trouble.

Promising news out of Victoria, with no new cases that weren't already in isolation.

What???

You're telling me people in Adelaide are smarter than people in Sydney?

I'm shocked.

The ABC said thousands in Sydney. The Herald might have been playing up the numbers. I was going by the aerial drone shots I saw.

Good that the ABC weren't showing any of the placards, and I haven't seen any online.

What do you reckon of this? Most protestors are of the small 'L' liberal bent. Sydney had more protestors because it has Gladys, a Liberal, as Premier. Victoria had less because it has liberal Dan, Labor. His supporters are happy with him and his party in power. Gladys' opponents are protesting whatever she does.

Given how many "left" Greens are antivaxers, that's entirely possible.

I also wonder how many protesters are just rent-a-mob goons who are up for any kind of disobedience.

Very good news out of Victoria, with two days in a row with no cases that weren't already in quarantine.

Definitely a lesson that going hard and immediately is the only option to keep a lid on the virus. I remain completely in doubt that NSW can retrieve the situation, but time will tell.

The NSW situation is already having the overall elimination strategy questioned. The federal government has got to provide economic relief for people who are losing income through this. But make sure greedy ***** like Gerry Harvey don’t get any.

Lockdowns, loss of income and Covid hanging over us makes protest understandable. I don’t think they are all antivax and trouble makers.

Watching Gladys’ press conference yesterday, I’m convinced restrictions will ease on Friday.

The real problem for NSW is that if she falls the next two in line are let-it-rip merchants. Grim days ahead for that state.

Victoria out of lockdown with 10 cases all in isolation. NSW 172 cases with at least 60 not isolated and infectious in the community.

Any apologies from Gladys? Not a hope in hell.

I still think she will ease restrictions on Friday.

The next step will be Palmer, politicians and Sky jerks complaining about the virtual wall around NSW.

I'd be going with Chairman Dan's Ring of Steel, personally.

NSW is going to explode with Covid and other states not wanting that is pretty smart.

Watch the build of frustration and anger. There is going to be a lot of kickback and questions about our strategy.

You'll run out of planes to send them all back here.

I hope they catch the scumbag whose photo shows him clearly punching a horse.

You should have watched the video instead. He wasn't actually punching it but pushing its head away. Never trust the media.

He's still a massive dickhead, though, for being out there without a mask in a crowd. He's just got us 4 more weeks of lockdown. **** you, you stupid prick.

LOL, you're easy to convince when you "know" what you want the result to be. Mongo he is not. It was a push, or even just a fend.

With schools and construction open. And masks not mandated outside.

It has never been a serious lockdown because Gladys does not have the backbone to stand up to business. Andrews, by comparison, simply ignores VECCI.

And by announcing the long length of it she's just asking for pushback.

I don't recall Dan ever announcing anything longer than a week at a time.

I'll agree to disagree, because what matters is how the courts see it, and we'll call that the definitive opinion on the subject.

Covid-safe plans required. That will mean masks, or being on the other side of a football oval.

Yeah, I've seen it. I've worked with horses pretty extensively, and that was a fend, not a punch. I was extremely impressed with how well those horses were trained to deal with rowdy crowds, though. The horses I knew would have panicked and freaked out.

I've spent plenty of time around horses, as you know, but I've never seen anyone fend or punch one. I'm relying on rugby, and a fend is with an open hand. If you use your fist, it's a punch.

Anyway, whatever it was, the guy's a ****.

I take no pleasure in this prediction, but NSW will exceed 400 within a week.

If you strike with force with the first two knuckles, it's a punch. That's not what happened in the video.

I’m watching Gladys’ presser and she started off by saying that NSW will have greater freedom than any other state because their vaccine rate would be higher than other states. Yeah, because Morrison gave you more vaccine.

She is a ******* disgrace.

I’m changing my prediction. NSW will end up with 1000 a day because of this **** who refuses to take responsibility for letting this happen.

Remember when this happened? And the... discussion that ensued?

Quote:
In other news, PM Scott Morrison, while talking on the Government's favourite platform 2GB, just claimed that there was no slavery in Australia.

No Scott, there was just unpaid forced convict labour. That's not slavery at all, is it?

Almost in the same breath he said we've got to be honest with our history and acknowledge the positive and the negative.
The Mayor of Bundaberg has just apologised to the Pacific Island nations for the policy of blackbirding.

Quote:
A local mayor has entered territory no state or federal politician has ventured after apologising for the blackbirding practices that helped build Queensland’s sugarcane industry, reports Nick Gibbs from AAP.

Bundaberg mayor Jack Dempsey said at a ceremony on Friday morning that the practice of “forcing indentured labour into Queensland cane fields was equivalent to slavery and abhorrent”.

Today I wish to extend a sincere apology on behalf of the Bundaberg region community for the abuse which occurred in ‘blackbirding’ people from Vanuatu and other Pacific Islands to work in the Queensland sugarcane industry ...

Our sugarcane industry was built on the backs of Pacific Island labour, along with much of our infrastructure such as rock walls, which are still visible today.

Just as well we have stopped exploiting them for our farming industry.

NSW threatening Uber etc with $500,000 fines for taking people into the Sydney CBD to protest today.

Will be interesting to see the number of numskulls protesting today.

Do you not have water cannons over there?

I'd use flamethrowers myself, but water would be a fair second. I see no reason to treat that filth with anything but the strongest response.
