A normal politician would resign after such an admission. He admits he made a deal he never expected to honour and that he expects the other party to let him off for any obligations on his part. This is why he had to leave the EU.

I wonder what his credit rating is like.

Sinn Fein rules NI. Did Boris or Nige predict this?

No. Sinn Féin has 30% of the Assembly seats.

Liz Truss has said a new law would be introduced to change the post-Brexit trade deal for Northern Ireland but the bill would be legal under international law.

Opinion piece in the Guardian

"There was clearly a part of Truss that knew she was spewing a word salad of bollocks because she stumbled over sentences and spoke in a robotic monotone. As if struggling to disengage from what’s left of her conscience. Telling lies on this scale must be so corrosive to any sense of personal integrity and self-worth. There may still be a small part of her that knows she is a fraud. But it must be silenced. She has sold her soul in the belief that her ambition can only be realised by out-Convicting the Convict."

They are the leaders of an alliance against the UDP.

If you say things like this often enough they become plausible.

John Redwood tweeted

"I do not believe the EU would tear up its free access to the U.K. market where it sells so much and break the international law it talks so much about just because the U.K. legally sorts out internal U.K. trade matters with Northern Ireland that the EU has damaged."

https://twitter.com/johnredwood/stat...78355562704904

Remember that he is a serving MP and at Brexit was a supporter of 'no deal'

Uk doesn’t even have the customs infrastructure in place to impose tariffs. A trade war would be very one sided.

This tweet is a perfect example of why Brexit is such a ********

‘They need us more than we need them’ seems to be trending again. This time apparently, we have the advantage as the EU just lost the Russian market so they can't afford to lose the UK too.

No they are not. There is no "alliance against the UDP [sic]". That is not how the Assembly works.

Brexit is going so well that yesterday Stanley Johnson (Boris' Dad) officially became a French citizen.

I know that relations between England & France have always been on the abusive side of friendly. But I think we've gone too far inflicting him on them. As they say "It's all fun and games..."

The Attorney General Suella Braverman will not be publishing the legal advice around changing the Northern Ireland protocol.

What a surprise.

To anyone with any form of scientific training, not referencing your supporting evidence means you don't have any.

I strongly suspect this to be the case with pretty much anything Braverman says. I mean how the actual **** did she get a law degree from Cambridge? I can hear the cogs whirring when she says her name, same as with Williamson or Raaaaaaaaab.

John Redwood says Nancy Pelosi should talk to Unionists in Northern Ireland about the damage the EU is doing to the Northern Ireland Protocol . It is the EU not the U.K. that has undermined it and led to the break down of the Assembly.

Her relationship to the law is like that between a badger and string theory.

AIUI Bravermann has fallen back on the 'disproportionate and unreasonable' argument.

She will be surprised when she discovers who signed off the totally unacceptable protocols.

Sadly he still thinks the goal is a workable solution: "But talk of scrapping the protocol and starting again is totally counterproductive." It is not counterproductive to be a smoke screen for Johnson and a detraction from his political - well really as we all know it is - personal concerns.
