I actually find it one of the best values in whisky: perfectly decent at a very reasonable price. I prefer Bulleit rye, so haven't bought the Old Overholt in some time, but I wouldn't pass on an Old Overholt Manhattan if offered.

Anything being called "whisky" which needs to be mixed with more than a couple of drops of spring water to be palatable doesn't deserve the name. Or to be consumed. The name is nothing more than a marketing ploy. A transparent one.

Same some shekels. Buy the cheapest vodka on the shelf ... and some grapefruit or orange juice.

Maybe Kool-Aid.

Double Tavarski Vodka (160 proof) was my go to, get blasted in the pasted, cheap vodka.

Bulleit is a fave for Rye, Woodinville Rye is also good. For bourbon, I favor Maker's Mark.

It doesn't need it, but I the drink was originally made with rye, so I prefer to have manhattans made with rye. If I'm having a manhattan.

Old Overholt with a touch of spring water is perfectly fine.

Marked for reference. Will have to try it out. Just emptied my big bottle of Bulleit Rye.

I've been indulging in some local goodness lately because I am drinking far less often: Garrison Brothers and TX Single Barrel. More complex than Makers, but still on the sweet side of things.

Afraid not. And you'll get dinged by the moderators if you try to circumvent the autocensor. My suggestion is to swear like a trooper, and let the autocensor do its thing.

There's a workaround that lets you exploit the autocensor, and the rule isn't enforced when you do that.

Don't try it outside Community and Humor, though.

Welcome Gavin, looks like you're past the 50 post mark needed to have an avatar. You can also request a custom title in the thread linked below.

http://www.internationalskeptics.com...81#post1205681

While not required, offerings of chocolates and premium libations can often motivate the title pixies.

Welcome, everyone.

Welcome Gavin, Lupus, and all other new members!
Despite immediate appearances, we're not necessarily a bunch of drunks.
Just thought it was worth mentioning.

Be careful! If say "Bloody Mary" 3 times quickly you get a slap around the head and a voice says "Get it yourself, you lazy sod!". Someone suggested it might be my wife but she always starts conversations by asking "Are you even listening?". Just an odd little verbal tic I guess.

At first I though you misspelled "Dominic Cummings" but googling the name, Dom will have him in the Tower pretty fast.

Ah. Welcome to the forums, ericlawson2001. TBH, I hadn't heard of the King at all until you brought him up (and I googled your reference). If you wish to talk about him, we'd doubtless have an interesting discussion -- "we" as in here in these forums, not me personally. You can start a thread if you wish.

Lots of reading in this forum. Good.

Hello.
I just got the message at the top of the forum reminding me I hadn't posted since joining and should introduce myself. So, here I am. Originally my (late) wife was a member here way back in the day and I remember reading threads that she suggested and thought I'd find interesting. I registered again a couple of years back, but my recent reacquaintance is down to realising this was probably the best place to find discussion about COVID-19.
I'm interested in the content of most of the other subforums too (and will probably be more likely to post in those) but I feel I'm already benefitting from both the insight and back and forth about the Coronavirus compared to the mass media.
In any case, nice to be here again.
Andrew.

Welcome back Andrew (PPL). Sorry to hear about your wife passing. My girlfriend, Moebob, was quite active here but lately (since 2018) she just doesn't have any interest in the forum. While I don't indulge in the Coronavirus threads I do check 'em from time to time for any new relevant information. Hope to see you around.

Dan, thanks for the welcome.
I'm already enjoying reading some threads/topics on a number of subjects, and the Coronavirus thread is a good repository for uodates.
Thanks again.
