Do yourself a favor and look at a map. NATO is four letters, and "MAP" is three. Even you can handle that much exercise, I think.

Not even trying to parse what you might mean by "near," two three NATO countries currently border Russia, and Poland borders Belarus. If Russia annexes Ukraine, it will automatically increase that number to seven eight. If Russia annexes Ukraine, it will be in continuous if not contiguous contact with the entire body of NATO states except for Iceland, the UK, and Norway. Ukraine has never been a member of NATO, and owing to its border ambiguities, probably never would be. Conquering Ukraine removes a buffer between Russia and NATO.

ETA for all that I still came up one short, because I forgot Estonia. There are FOUR NATO nations already bordering Russia: Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, and Norway. If Russia annexes Ukraine, it will immediately ADD Poland, Bratislava, Hungary and Romania to its list of NATO neighbors. If in response to the threat, Finland joins NATO, another will be added however the war in Ukraine comes out.

Before the stupid bitch invaded, we had given Ukraine Stingers and Javelin missiles. These weapons systems have a fairly short range. To avoid being killed by these weapons, all the Russians had to do was not be in Ukraine.

We didn't give Ukraine ballistic nuclear missiles like the Soviets sent to Cuba. We gave Ukraine anti tank and anti aircraft missiles with a range of three miles (ish). This is so simple. How do you not grasp such an obvious concept?

Are you able to appreciate the difference between killing civilians (bombing a maternity hospital, for example) and killing an armed soldier who has invaded your home and is part of an army that is killing civilians?
