Which is of course another issue with incarcerating Trump... they may need to increase oversight of the guards to prevent them from giving him any sort of special treatment.... slipping him a contraband cell phone, passing messages on to his minions outside the prison, etc.

I hate to burst anyone's bubble but the odds of Trump actually seeing the inside of a prison cell remain small. And if he does, it will most certainly be in a special protective wing of some kind. He's not going to be in "gen pop".

I don't think there are more than 2, or maybe 3, SCOTUS judges that actually *like* Trump. And it may be 0. I don't see them making a ruling of that kind.

I think the SCOTUS judges are able to set aside their own personal opinions and ensure they judge based on their latest sponsorship deals.

I doubt very much the SCOTUS will act to protect Trump. They may occasionally "nudge" things in his favor (e.g. "lets delay Trump releasing his taxes as much as possible"), but I think throwing out charges would be going a bit too far.

I am basing this on:

- The number of court cases Trump lost over his "stolen election" claims. So there are limits to what they will do for him

- The current unpopularity of the supreme court. I am sure that Drunky McRapeface, the Stepford Wife, etc. want a republican-led theocracy. But them overturning Trump's conviction will likely drive more voters to the Democrats (maybe even encouraging them to "stack" the supreme court), something that will delay their implementation of an American Taliban.

- The negative effect Trump has had on the Republican elections. Getting Trump out of politics will help them win seats in congress (and maybe even have a shot at the white house). Keeping Trump around as a viable candidate means more chance the democrats will hold seats in Congress and the white house.

Republicans on the supreme court want a theocracy, they don't need Trump to do it, and Trump might actually stand in the way of that.

I think the bigger risk is that a republican will win the 2024 election (all they need is the economy to go into a decline right before the election) and the eventual winner will pardon Trump. (There are still the state level charges, but those have their own issues.)

Look back at the earlier cases that when through the judge in Florida. Remember that her approach was one of caution, with the ruling that we have to treat this differently because it is a former president and that warrants special circumstances that we have to take into account. That was essence of her ruling. It's a former president, so things are different.

Yeah, a judge could say that. But then it went to the court of appeals, and we all recognize that they slapped her down big time. No, we don't get to treat him differently because he is a former president, and you have to look at the precedent in the law. And these were Trump-appointed judges on the court of appeals.

She could run rogue on her own, but they couldn't do that when it got to the group in the court of appeals. In the end, it was about the law. Yeah, you can push things, but no, you can't just ignore it.

That's how I see things going here. The USSC isn't going to worry about him. I don't think many of them can even stand the guy. Roberts doesn't, that's for sure. Thomas has to support him because of his wife, but I wouldn't be surprised if even Alito hates him, too.

I think I'd be OK with that as long as Trump doesn't win, and spends a significant amount of time in jail, or in less-than-comfortable circumstances.

Unfortunately because of the time it takes to bring a case to trial, and then work its way through the appeals process (a judge might keep him out of jail until all appeals are exhausted) its possible that he wouldn't actually begin to start serving time until early in 2025 (at which point a future republican might have taken power and pardoned him.)

1. Put him in solitary confinement in a Supermax
2. No cellphones
3. No computers with internet access
4. Vet all prison guards to eliminate Trumpers
5. SSA's act as supplementary prison guards
5. Only his lawyers and family allowed to visit.

ADX Florence CO would be the ideal place to incarcerate The Fat Orange Turd.

ADX Florence was commissioned when the Federal Bureau of Prisons needed a unit designed specifically for the secure housing of those prisoners most capable of extreme violence toward staff or other inmates. As of June 2023, there are a total of 316 inmates housed. They are confined 23 hours per day in single cells with facilities made of poured, reinforced concrete to deter self-harm, and are under 24-hour supervision, carried out intensively with high staff–inmate ratios.

Its in the middle of nowhere, deterring all but the hardiest of his MAGA morons from going there to protest... and there is even a spare cell now as Ted Kaczynski (The Unabomber) snuffed it a couple of days ago!

None of the charges carry a mandatory custodial sentence. And the judge, that apparently just HAS to preside over this case*, is a MAGA person. So, if found guilty you can bet your bottom dollar it won't come with a custodial sentence.

Trump would obviously still get secret service protection in prison.

That said if he is convicted and sentenced to prison time it would not be far-fetched if he was put in under house arrest. Since this does not involve any violent crimes or any theft.

I think the bigger risk is that a republican will win the 2024 election (all they need is the economy to go into a decline right before the election) and the eventual winner will pardon Trump. (There are still the state level charges, but those have their own issues.)

Remember that her approach was one of caution, with the ruling that we have to treat this differently because it is a former president and that warrants special circumstances that we have to take into account. That was essence of her ruling. It's a former president, so things are different. Yeah, a judge could say that. But then it went to the court of appeals, and we all recognize that they slapped her down big time. No, we don't get to treat him differently because he is a former president, and you have to look at the precedent in the law. And these were Trump-appointed judges on the court of appeals. She could run rogue on her own, but they couldn't do that when it got to the group in the court of appeals. In the end, it was about the law. Yeah, you can push things, but no, you can't just ignore it. That's how I see things going here. The USSC isn't going to worry about him. I don't think many of them can even stand the guy. Roberts doesn't, that's for sure. Thomas has to support him because of his wife, but I wouldn't be surprised if even Alito hates him, too.

Unfortunately because of the time it takes to bring a case to trial, and then work its way through the appeals process (a judge might keep him out of jail until all appeals are exhausted) its possible that he wouldn't actually begin to start serving time until early in 2025 (at which point a future republican might have taken power and pardoned him.)
