Militia groups want to 'blow up the Capitol' when Biden addresses Congress
Not sure where to put this. Seems like we need a fresh militia threat thread. There is the threat of a March 4 Trump event and more worrisome this CNN: Capitol Police chief warns militia groups want to 'blow up the Capitol' when Biden addresses Congress.

I considered that thread but it really has run it's course. If we were only talking about March 4th .... but now we have a whole new set of circumstances.
Maybe a merged thread is in order. |

There is some twisted beauty in the reaction to right-wingers committing violence: because they have no sense of cognitive dissonance, an attack like the one on the Capitol, can be an expression of Patriotism and a False Flag operation at the same time.
Future terror attacks, too, will be seen as heroic and a (((left-wing Plot))) simultaneously. |

I remember how, after 9/11, plenty of people trotted out the bit in the Koran that gives Believers permission to lie if it was in the furtherance of the Cause.
Current Conservationism, and Trumpism in particular has this in spades: lying to the Press, to Judges and voters is not only permissible, it is evidence of commitment to the Leader. |

I don't see it as dissonance.
America is only America if ruled by Real AmericansTM. Any government not run by them is illegitimate. It's boilerplate fascism crap, purging the nation of undesirables and enforcing their will through violence is all perfectly consistent with that ideology. |

I made this thread a while back. Seems like the fears weren't unfounded.

Hopefully Homeland Security and the Secret Service will be able to nip this in the bud and prevent any violence from happening.

Those certain people will never be convinced or swayed. Nipped in the bud? Project Fear. Attack carried out, left wing false flag.
We're talking about a group of people who believe Hilary Clinton drinks the blood of newborns. They have been emboldened by Trump and the GoP. It's going to be a while before you guys can slap them back into place. |

Depends on the packaging. If the USA and FBI SAC do a shoulder to shoulder press conference after some arrests, in front of a table full of scary looking guns, boxes of ammunition and bomb making material they will pretty much insulate themselves from fear mongering charges. If we keep hearing about these arrests for lower level felonies and misdemeanors of morons, yeah the public may have a hard time taking the threat seriously.
The DOJ should be able to come up with a couple of sacrificial lambs dumb enough to cross into seditious conspiracy who are also massive gun nuts to serve the purpose. |

I wonder if we'll see scattered mini-crowds tomorrow on a few street corners or in front of whatever buildings these guys focus on, while a Biden state of the union gives them a focal point to show up in one large group?
There were a bunch of cult members near CPAC, lining the street Sunday with Trump signs waiting for his limo to drive by. It's bizarre how many people are taken in by a lying con-man. |

March 4 Trump day is over. Anyone have any local activity where they were? The Capitol certainly seemed quiet.
This was an interesting twist, it's all just fake news says The GatewayPundit but not the fake news one would expect, rather the fake news that there ever was a big protest planned. I think it's worth taking note, without Twitter Trump couldn't raise a ripple of a protest.

You'd think that in the 21st century the security services would be able to handle this kind of threat without public fanfare and disruption of regular business.

How long before Joe Biden and the media resurrect this to keep his supporters scared of nonexistent bogeyman?

What? How? Seriously, how? The disruption is happening, how modern-day security services (and how is that different from last century's boots'n'guns?) going to counter the disruption while creating normalcy for the businesses, whose idea of 'normalcy' doesn't have jackbooted idiots OR security patrols?

Meanwhile Richard Barnett -- you remember him, right? -- is getting antsy to get out of the DC Corrections facility. Thursday during a virtual appearance a federal judge continued his case until May 4th, meaning Barnett will remain in the DC jail until at least then. Barnett was described as livid. He angrily exclaimed, "Another month!" Apparently no one had the heart to tell him, "No, Mr. Barnett, this is March 4th. May 4th means two more months in the, um, facility."
I imagine the Washington DC Corrections Center is not a real comfortable place for someone like Barnett.

I just love it when steps taken to prevent/discourage idiots from doing stupid things work and then people declare there was never any danger from those idiots in the first place.

Thing is - the annual presidential address to Congress is *always* a massive security event, and has been for a good long time now. Anyone trying to get near the Capitol building or the White House without authorization...well, they've got a lot of experts, animals, surveillance, snipers, MRAPs, well-armed checkpoints...and that's the stuff that's publicly known.
The random crap like what today was supposed to be, will have somewhat less security than that. But on the plus side, they seem to be taking actual threats seriously, instead of having the FBI repeatedly harass someone who was at a BLM rally, or sending helicopters to fly way too low at a protest. Why they need to keep learning this exact same lesson I'll never know... |

Why are you people being so dramatic about something that happened two months ago possibly happening again? Don't you leftist morons realize that the real danger is in fictional brown people heading for the border and fabricated threats of communism?

The chatter about March 4 was never as prolific and extreme as the stuff that was leading up to the Jan6 attack. It was appropriate to take precautions, but I suspect a lot of this publicity was about the cops trying to salvage their damaged reputation more than anything.
They were caught asleep at the wheel and now they're trying to put out the message that they're being more diligent in their duty. |
