I must say that the existence of god(s) doesn’t actually explain that much – it’s not a good Theory, in that it doesn’t really explain the available data, or help us understand the world around us any more deeply, or make any predictions about future events. I speak from my own experience – I’ve tried very sincerely in the past to believe in the christian god, but found that it didn’t help me understand the world around me, or my own inner world, any better.
Now, natural selection, evolutionary psychology…those are theories, man. Delve into those sincerely, and then take a look around at the outside and inner worlds, and know ye the power of understanding something more deeply, more honestly. |

It's a valid point, but bear in mind that religion was at one time the closest thing we had to science. It was the best explaination we had for what seemed to be the facts.
What made Christianity different was that those who were reviled and scorned in other belief systems of the past were lifted up and held before those who had been holding them down. The poor and infirm were to be helped, not ignored. When Jesus stood before the Pharisees and condemned them for withholding assistance to their elder family members, claiming everything they owned was now "corban," (dedicated to God), he did so because Jewish law said you were to take care of your parents, and side-stepping the issue by saying you were giving everything away when you died was a lie. Christianity was not meant to be an explaination for Creation; it was meant to be a way of living, by which we honored God. 1inChrist has NEVER gotten this through his thick head. Frankly, by his verbal vomit, the one thing that has gotten through is that he does not believe in God, because if he did, he certainly would have come here with something resembling humility. He hasn't. Instead, he's come laying on with a verbal assault that makes Jerry Falwell look like a Teletubby. Hey, if he's going to say by his actions that there is no God, who are we to argue? |

If God turned up tomorrow, even the believers would cry "false prophet, it's Satan in disguise!!"
That is also why i don't think there will be a second coming of Jesus Christ A fair slice of believers would not believe it was the real deal, and cry "false prophet", and the poor guy would likely be crucified a second time, or possibly hanged / electric chair / lethal injection If Jesus did come back, i'm hoping he will tell people of the faith, to take off their robes, put down the bible/koran, and let's all move forward into the 21st centrury shall we? |
