A First Lady is not a political position; besides being the Chief's squeeze, it's basically acting as. spokesperson and advocate for a platform cause. Is there any issue with saying she will 'forever' use her notoriety to push those agendas? Seems reasonable to me.

I mean, a story like this, I have two main interests:
One, did it really happen? Two, is there a relatively neutral source? Once I'd covered those two important points, most of my remaining interest was figuring out the lack of masks. Good thing I noticed the date stamp in the URL, or I'd be really embarrassed right now. |

To be honest, previous politicians exiting the white house to retire into cushy lecture circuit gigs is probably good. once you hit the top ring, you are out. It's when you get former top-dogs throwing their weight around in the political ring when you have problems. I'm looking at your, Bush family dynasty and Clintons.
If the Obama's legacy is them going around doing fluff gigs, I'd consider us lucky. The people suggesting that Michelle should be POTUS or some other nonsense make me cringe. Jimmy Carter is the model ex-president. |

Mostly just the novelty of the idea of a "forever first lady".
Like a forever partner: https://www.google.com/search?q=fore...orever+partner Which is not how I normally think of presidents and their spouses. I tend to think of them as essentially transient phenomena. I guess it's not that weird, though. I bet a lot of people thought of Jackie Kennedy as their political BFF for life. And you'd think the UKians had lost an actual monarch, the way they reacted to Lady Diana's tragic death. |

Already addressed. Obviously I care a little bit, otherwise I wouldn't have started the thread. The theme and scope of my caring are covered in the thread so far
And obviously you really do care, enough to post anyway (but not enough to read the page and a half and get the answer to your question). The people who really don't care are the ones who saw the thread and dismissed it. |

Didn't Trump suggest being a President (him) forever, until death?

You've missed a couple of references because of your ignorance about the current First Lady. But then you don't think First Lady is particularly important enough to pay attention to...which then raises the question of why then you felt the need to talk about Michelle Obama.
Which is it: are First Ladies worth attention or not? If so, then why don't you seem to know the rather famous things Mrs Trump has been in the news for? If not, then why does what Mrs Obama say merit a thread? The answer seems to be that First Ladies only matter when they are Mrs Obama. Which is why I implied that "rent free" business applies to you. |

Missed? Or dismissed?
We all have squatters we'd like to evict, I suppose. I'm sure there's a Melania thread around here somewhere, if that's what makes you dance the Fortnite dance.* --- *Or whatever the kids-these-days equivalent of "grinds your gears/busts your nut" happens to be. |

My kids watch the show, "The Masked Singer." One of the performers on the show this year was Sarah Palin.
You know what they called her? "Governor Sarah Palin." Because once she was the Governor of Alaska, so now she always get called by that title. She didn't correct anyone calling her that. I think in 2 years, I should pull up footage of that and whine about how she was willing to be called Governor despite not holding that position for 12 years. |

Is your years old article supposed to support the idea that Michelle Obama is still running around telling that specific group of supporters that she is their forever First Lady?
Man, remember when the OP claimed he didn't care about this incident? Why do you care so much about it when even he doesn't? |

Yeah, I don't get this.
I'm not American, but even I know that in America, it is very common for people in high positions to be referred to by their title long after they have retired or left the position. When people talk to Bill Clinton or Dubya, or Obama, they still use the honorific "Mr President" . Retired Generals and Admirals are referred to by their former rank, and former State Governors are addressed as "Governor". Just this morning I watched an interview with John Brennan, the former Director of the CIA. The interviewer, Nicole Wallace, addressed him as "Director Brennan" I'm not seeing what the problem is calling Michelle Obama Madam First Lady, when her husband is still called Mr President. |

Sigh. What else is there to do? Most of us are stuck at home and getting crazier from boredom. Jesus Christ, I never thought I'd say this, but I really want to just go to a mall and walk around stores! I haven't done that voluntarily in decades! Hell, I'm willing to go to IKEA.

In the Second Age, in Eregion, Obamabrimbor did forge the Rings of Power, and Michelle, mightiest of the Noldor women, took one that she might preserve a realm and be Forever First Lady. But she knew that eventually her efforts would fail, for when Trumpon inevitably fell the power of the rings would die out. And she would pass, diminished, back to the West, to Chicago, and a lucrative lecture circuit.
