Yes, but this was in response to Trump thinking about starting a committee to investigate anti-conservative bias in social media. If a government sponsored panel starts suggesting that certain tweets or certain account holders be suppressed, that's pretty clearly a violation of the first amendment, even if Twitter et al. go along with their plans. I think it's been well-established that a third party violating your rights on behalf of the government is still unconstitutional.

They had the chance to rid themselves of the Trump problem with impeachment but were all too cowardly to do it. They've given all their power to him.

He's proud of this. Sadly, so will his supporters be. They can't see how dangerous this kind of thing is to democracy.

The problem is he continues to get away with everything. No consequences for anything.

I would love to see Bezos buy the USPS and tell the Trump campaign we don't feel like mailing your crap out.

Or Twitter just shut him down. He absolutely HAS to have violated Twitters user agreement.

It's not a democracy, it's a Republic. Democracy is so evil there's a Commie Socialist Leftist Mooslim We-hate-America party named after it. That's why we've got to make sure only the (far) right people vote!

My great-uncle, who had emigrated from Germany to the US just before WW1, went back to visit his family in Germany in 1957. His brother turned out to still be a die hard Hitler fan who refuse to recognize the crimes of Hitler and the Nazis. They never spoke again.

He has. Continually. This was actually something that was being poked at a bunch early in his Presidency. Twitter acknowledged it, too, while also pointing out that they were in an interesting situation because Trump was significantly increasing the usage of Twitter in general.

So they've continued to favor profits over upholding the rules when it comes to Trump.

To clarify, Trump is making another attempt at name-calling here (he's used this several times before.) It's actually MSNBC, a decidedly left-leaning network. But he calls it MSDNC because he's "cleverly" alluding that the DNC (Democratic National Committee) runs it.

Suspending him (I'm not even going to think about a ban) would activate the base. It'd be evidence of the elite media conspiring against Republicans to throw the election to Biden. They want to "silence" the president. It doesn't matter that their arguments are utterly inhecorent.

Plus there's an old saying, "better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt".

I want to see Trump's tweets, the more the better. At a minimum it gives us an insight to what he really thinks, and something to laugh about. Hopefully it will also help turn people away from him and convince them that he needs to be removed.

OK, I take your point.

So what is the situation when the government tries to censor what a private company says? Which is what it would be if Trump wanted the government to shut down or otherwise control Twitter.

Or both.

We like to think we live in a reality-based world view. Well, in political reality too many people believe in utter nonsense. I have no idea how to address that issue but denying it is not a good start.

Trump Tweets

Schools in our country should be opened ASAP. Much very good information now available.

I give, and have given from the beginning, my entire yearly salary, $400,000 to $450,000, back to our government. Last check to HHS Covid relief. My great honor!

Having the G7 meeting in Washington is very important for those countries, and the World!

On @FaceTheNation, National Security Advisor Robert O'Brien says "so far we've had a great response," to Pres Trump's invitation to G7 leaders to meet in Washington at the end of June. "We'll make sure that it's a safe environment," O'Brien tells @margbrennan.

Sleepy Joe’s representatives have just put out an ad saying that I went to play golf (exercise) today. They think I should stay in the White House at all times. What they didn’t say is that it’s the first time I’ve played golf in almost 3 months, that Biden was constantly.....

...vacationing, relaxing & making shady deals with other countries, & that Barack was always playing golf, doing much of his traveling in a fume spewing 747 to play golf in Hawaii - Once even teeing off immediately after announcing the gruesome death of a great young man by ISIS!

Why? (Assume it's true for the sake of this question.)

Really, what was Obama supposed to do after the deed was done? Don sackcloth and ashes?

Not exactly a parallel situation, but what's wrong with Trump playing golf? After all, he spends hours watching TV so exchanging that for some golf doesn't seem like much of a loss of leadership. Even supposing he was a competent president (I know, I know. Just go with me here.) he would spend much of his day on other matters anyway. At very high levels in any organization, leaders do not have the luxury of single mindedness on any one issue.

Finally, on Trump as he is, there is so very much more that is so very much worse that I don't give a **** that he played some golf.

Yes, schools generally are full of very good information. Clearly that is something you failed to take on board when your daddy bought you out of Wharton.

Never mind that it costs the US tax-payers more than twice that amount for you to have a single round of golf-cart driving in Virginia.

Or both.
I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop but so far trump has not fired back. I'm sure he must be ranting about her in private. Of course, trump has already been reported as being angry with -- and has struck back at -- Fox News over their latest polling. Fox News link to poll

Why doesn’t @FoxNews put up the CNBC POLL or the (believe it or not!) @CNN Poll? Hope Roger A is looking down and watching what has happened to this once beautiful creation!
I guess trump thinks Fox should just change the numbers to ones that favor trump. Ironically, he refers to CNBC and CNN polls. CNBC has them tied -- including in "six key battleground states" -- while CNN shows Biden leading 51%-46%. Link to CNBC poll CNN poll link

OH, you mean like the "Much very good information" that it's already basically the end of the school year "in our country"? What a maroon.
