I'll just throw this out there: New York Post Weiner headlines

What would they do without him?

Report about overweight cats with the title "pussy galore" thats important news unlike a mere republican senator indicted for corruption. Got to keep things in perspective.

This wasn't a little flirting. This was hard core sex talk, "Now the next thing I'm going to you is...." He offered to buy this woman a condo in Chicago. The photo was not of the previous type, his junk covered by a towel or in undies. It was a photo of his completely naked penis.

That is serious flirting but still flirting.

I wouldn't vote for David Vitter, but he stood for reelection after his scandal broke and was duly reelected. Anthony Weiner is doing the same thing- asking the voters for a second chance. The major difference that I can see is that it looks like NYC voters might have more sense than Louisiana voters.

We can only hope. He ain't getting my vote!

I don't think I remember a time when our three major city newspapers (Times, News & Post) ever totally agreed on anything - except this. All three say that Weiner should step down. Add to that The Wall Street Journal & El Diario (largest Spanish paper).

The New York Times condemnation of Weiner was of particular interest since the paper seemed to love Weiner, giving him and Huma the cover of the magazine a few months ago with a nine page fluff piece.

I would think the writers of the fluff piece would be especially irate with Weiner, since now everyone knows they're chumps.

I've never been very sympathetic towards people claiming to have a "sex addiction" or "problem with porn", like, say, Tiger Woods. The diagnosis seems to conveniently pop up right after the "addict" gets caught with his pants down, literally.

But the more I've been thinking about Weiner (!), the more sympathetic I've become. It's gone from a hilariously satisfying takedown to an amusing situation to just shaking my head, and finally, now, just kinda sad. The NYC voters never should've encouraged him with their support. He never came fully clean about the first round of incidents, and continued to lie about them during his "rehabilitation" period prior to this run. That should've clued people in to the fact that he hadn't fixed or resolved anything. IMO, the guy just has nowhere else to go in life - one of the problems with having a class of career politicians.

Anyways, to answer your question in all seriousness: I don't want him to continue the race, much less win. I think there comes a point where these things reflect badly on all Americans, not just half of us.

Sorry, not seeing the"respect her choice" thing with respect to the wife. The guy is scummy as all hell and is dragging her and her family down with him. And the cock pics are the least of what I am referring to.

I also tell women not to use Internet Explorer or talk on their cell phone while they drive, just the same as men in those situations.

I don't see how it is respectful to her or the women and girls watching to remain silent on the sick charade.

I love the double standard on display in this thread;if this were a conservative Republican a lot of Weiner's supporters here would be leading the lynch mob.
Only if Weiner was a "family values" type of candidate. I don't get why the Republicans are all up in arms over Weiner, but didn't say anything about Sanford's return. Oh, I know know why. It's ok if you're a Republican... to break any law or moral standards.

Also, it's not as if liberals are not criticizing Anthony on this. Heck, Rachel Maddow as very upset with him, and she's the queen liberal, right?

Vitter didn't bother resigning either. Republicans really don't care about this, see Mark Sanford.

I thought they were both idiots; IIRC I said so in one of the first posts on this thread. But at least so far, the argument seems to be that Sanford found another woman whom he fell in love with; Weiner appears to be just a horndog looking for a quick lay. I'm not inclined to forgive either but if forced to choose, I'd pick Sanford.

As might be imagined, NPR's Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me finds Weiner to be fertile ground...

Yesterday Peter Segal asked why they didn't just take his cell phone away, and someone else said that an obsession like that wouldn't be deterred by the lack of a cell phone...
To which Paula Poundstone replied... "Well, it might save the Post Office...."

Well there is one thing he's not lying about......he's Jewish.

In other news Weiner's campaign manager quit, Huma is being investigated by Congress for working for both the government and a private consulting firm at the same time and Anthony is being blasted for spending $45k in campaign funds to investigate who "hacked" his Twitter account in 2011.

Bloomberg's multiple re-elections give lie to that thought.

Appalling sexual judgment does not seem to preclude being a decent public servant. On balance I think we did pretty well under Clinton. Petraeus was highly regarded. Smart men, stupid choices (compulsions?). However I don't think Wiener was that high caliber to begin with.
