You actually think McCarthy had secret knowledge about Putin payments to Trump?

I don't know. But I think him saying so, even in "jest," justifies a closer look at what secret knowledge he had.

I think we're more likely to learn about extreme efforts Republicans went through to ensure they knew as little as possible. Russian hacking efforts went all the way down to seemingly insignificant house races and most of the candidates embraced the hacked attacks.

I agree, but those optics are pretty damn revealing. They demonstrate that the people who defend Trump actually feel the same way as the rest of us.

Maybe it's not so secret. It's obvious both Trump and Rohrabacher have an unusual interest in promoting things that benefit Putin.

And this at the same time it has been postulated Nunes' late night jaunt to the WH was not to view anything but to share what the committee had on Trump with Trump staff.

Like the "nutso-clique of aspiring propagandists at the CIA".....

Quote:
The Democratic Party is doing incalculable damage to itself by shapeshifting into the party of baseless conspiracy theories, groundless accusations, and sour grapes. Hillary Clinton was already the most distrusted presidential candidate in party history. Now she’s become the de facto flag-bearer for the nutso-clique of aspiring propagandists at the CIA, the New York Times and Bezo’s Military Digest. How is that going to improve the party’s prospects for the long term?

It won’t, because the vast majority of Americans do not want to align themselves with a party of buck-passing juveniles that have no vision for the future but want to devote all their energy to kooky witch-hunts that further prove they are unfit for high office.

The reason Hillary Clinton lost the election is because she is a polarizing, untrustworthy warmonger. Period. Putin had nothing to do with it.

Well... to be fair, it could have been political suicide when that article was written last year. If it weren't for everything else about Trump that would likely come into play. It was worthwhile, most importantly, BECAUSE of Trump's character and history. Even if it ended up turning up nothing directly, serious investigation was fairly certain to find a lot of other dirt. And... hey, look. We immediately got a bunch of Trump officials who committed perjury about their connections to Russia as something of an opening reward, before getting to the rest of the more recent theatrics. The focus is no longer much on Russian hacking anymore, so it's long past time to ditch the political suicide talk. It's not on the jobs that most of the people actually want... but Trump was never qualified to do good by the economy in the first place, and just keeps proving that. Cuts to food stamps, for example, are a huge step in the exact wrong way, both short term and long term.

I know the Russians very well and even know more about the capabilities of their own aircraft and missiles considering their press conferences regarding their own Su-25 and air-to-air and ground-to-air missiles and the MH-17 incident. The Russians were so sloppy, they even depicted the wrong model aircraft during their press conference and that is the same Russia that helped placed Trump in the White House.

Let's also remember that Trump has had the lowest approval rating of any new president in recent memory and he continues to lie on a regular basis. To sum it up, Trump is totally unfit to be president and has now made the United States a laughingstock.

The pressure is building.

NYT: Trump brags to Russians about firing 'nut job' Comey

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump bragged to two top Russian officials last week that firing "nut job" FBI Director James Comey eased "great pressure" on him, The New York Times reported Friday.

"I just fired the head of the FBI. He was crazy, a real nut job," Trump said, according to the Times. "I faced great pressure because of Russia. That's taken off."

It is apparent, that immature Trump was a bit premature in his assessment.

Dershowitz is making the CNN/Fox news rounds ranting Trump's civil liberties are being denied and he's outraged. He's claiming even firing Comey to stop the investigation wasn't illegal because Trump had the right.

Tucker Carlson is sucking it up, it's fine for the Trump campaign to collude with the Russians because it wasn't illegal.

Good grief.

Do you think he's applying for a WH job?

Dershowitz has grown more and more into a whore. The only place more dangerous than being between Dershowitz and a TV camera is being between Trump and one.

Speaking of which, my list is in need of update. Here's the mounting circumstantial evidence, additions in blue.
  • Trump flat out lied about his relationship with Putin
  • Trump flat out lied about his role in GOP platform concerning Ukraine
  • Manafort flat out lied about his/Trump role in GOP platform
  • Manafort flat out lied about his deep Russian relationships
  • Manafort received money from Russian contacts
  • Trump is pretending that Manafort was minimally involved in the campaign
  • Flynn received money from Russian contacts
  • Flynn flat out lied about his Russian contacts
  • Despite knowing that Flynn was under investigation for Russian (and Turkish) ties, and having been warned that Flynn was a serious security risk, Trump appointed Flynn NSA, fired him only when the facts went public, and continues to coddle him.
  • Trump lied by omission about Flynn's contacts
  • Sessions flat out lied about his Russian contacts
  • Carter Page flat out lied about his Russian contacts
  • Various campaign officials lied about Page's relationship with the campaign
  • Roger Stone flat out lied about his Russian contacts
  • Trump Jr acknowledged significant Russian money coming into the business, but Trump now denies
  • Trump openly encouraged Russia to hack Clinton
  • Trump fired Comey to impede the investigation, and bragged about it to the Russians
  • Kushner omitted meetings with Russians on his security clearance form
Please point out any significant omissions.

If it's just circumstantial... the willingness to just give highly classified information to the Russians for seemingly nothing really in return in that meeting right after Comey was fired would likely count, too?

Trump campaign had at least 18 undisclosed contacts with Russians during the campaign.

Michael Flynn and other advisers to Donald Trump’s campaign were in contact with Russian officials and others with Kremlin ties in at least 18 calls and emails during the last seven months of the 2016 presidential race, current and former U.S. officials familiar with the exchanges told Reuters.

The previously undisclosed interactions form part of the record now being reviewed by FBI and congressional investigators probing Russian interference in the U.S. presidential election and contacts between Trump’s campaign and Russia.

Six of the previously undisclosed contacts described to Reuters were phone calls between Sergei Kislyak, Russia's ambassador to the United States, and Trump advisers, including Flynn, Trump’s first national security adviser, three current and former officials said.

Putin wants regime change in America and Ukraine, in the same way as the Pentagon and Israel and Saudi Arabia and Mrs. May want regime change in Syria and Iran and Russia, with Assad must go, so that the anti-Christian Al Qaeda head choppers of Isis and Al-Nusra can take control in Damascus.
