I am not sure when reality will sink in with the Brexit loons. Sure, we have roughly a tenth of the UK population. But we have approx. 450 million fellow europeans and they do not. Because they chose it to be so. On top of that, they took a swift sump on China, Saudi, Russia and so forth. So exactly where is the UK positioning itself?
A vassal state of the US, that's where. |

The Brexit Party will campaign in next year's Senedd election to scrap devolution.
Mark Reckless, leader of the party's group in the Welsh Parliament, said "devolution has gone so much further than some people thought it would". He is proposing a directly-elected first minister answering to MPs and getting rid of the Senedd. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-politics-53371014 So freedom from the EU but subjugation to the English for Wales |

No10 says that the UK has left the EU and we need to "take action" and prepare as we "transition to our new relationship" and we should "Check the guidance. Make the changes. And let’s get going"
Hold on. We were promised the exact same benefits as before. Why do we need to take action? |

I think you'll find that it's always been clear that Brexit would result in a lot of fundamental changes. All of those statements which promised the exact same benefits were taken completely out of context, are #FakeNews, are the result of Project Fear reinventing the past or a combination of all three.
IMO the expectation is that people will simply have forgotten what they were previously promised. I think people returning from their 2021 booze cruises to the continent will be shocked to find out what their new limit really is. |

My favourite was a day or two ago when Andrea Leadsom said that it was "made very clear" in 2016 that a No Deal Brexit would lead to job losses.
Yes it was. By Remainers. Who were dismissed as being part of Project Fear. We have always been at war with Eurasia. |

Liz Truss has been “forcefully rebuked” by Dominic Cummings over leaked letter on UK’s unpreparedness for new customs & border arrangements in January.
Cummings accused Liz Truss of leaking the letter herself. Let this sink in. Dominic Cummings is rebuking ministers, an unelected personal adviser is rebuking an elected MP and Minister, one of the people’s representatives. Does anybody think this normal? |

It's not going to stop is it? After Brexit they'll be screaming about
- death penalty - national service - immigration - compulsory English in public - banning metric - banning new mosques - ban veils - deport asylum seekers - flogging criminals - reintroduce the cane etc. |

![]() I don't think that the British public have much problem with unelected officials holding significant power (unless of course their newspaper tells them otherwise). The problem they had with the EU was that they were horrible foreigners telling us what to do (though specific examples were in short supply). Dominic Cummings is fine because he's just helping Boris Johnson be the best PM he can ![]() |

How long is it now since we've seen a pro-Brexit post in these threads?

I've just realised what the government was trying to do with saying that, they were hoping that the EU would do the same so the transition period would be extended without having to say it was formally extended. That's a bit of cunning that we don't often see from this shower.

It's the obvious inference, that the UK government hoped the EU would follow suit and agree to pretend we hadn't left for another 6 months, but it's completely nuts. The UK is asking, okay hinting, that everyone pretend we haven't left, but that won't be true in a really obviously legal sense. If some big commercial dispute pops up the UK will no longer accept the arbitration of a European court so...
It's a bit like asking if everyone can just pretend you paid your car insurance. It's not going to cause any imaginable problems, so long as you can't imagine ever getting into an accident. |

Government has just announced that it is pulling Huawei equipment out of our telecoms infrastructure. The issue of course is whether China will decide to retaliate on the UK, it is so fortunate that we are part of the world's 2nd largest trading block with China so that would be China cutting its nose of to spite itself.....

Yes, the reduction of Huawei's involvement being a sop to the US is exactly what I've heard. That said, I'm not too upset by that particular bit of news, given that their involvement had been flagged up as a security risk anyway.
