Totally agree. He's as guilty as sin, and has been a "made man" since the 80's. All of NYC knows this. And now the world.

I don't think that means what you think it means.

Even aside from certain categorical prerequisites, no Mafia boss would ever let someone like Trump in any position of responsibility.

Not that there's any question of his guilt in many matters, or that such knowledge was common as far back as you mention. But any organized crime family would view him as a clown, a chump, a tool, and a source of income. Not as anyone worthy of being part of their operation.

"made man" has two different meanings, depending on context

Trump fits the first one to a Tee

The first one has little direct connection to being "guilty as sin". So the second seems far more applicable.

Which do you think Norman Alexander was referring to?

I didn't realise that a "made man" in the mafia sense had to be Italian, i.e. family. So there, I missed the mark.

But Trump has been involved in mafia activities probably from his earliest life, learning from his father. Whether he has to be in a responsible position to be made, I don't know. But he has been a "useful" chump and clown for decades, especially as a front-man and diversion. If they gave out recognition for being made, I'm sure the mafia would have given Donny an extra big, shiny badge to keep him sweet.

Sure. And few would offer serious argument against this.

But aside from the rather stringent blood quantum requirements, the main qualification for being "made" in the sense you were referring to is for that person to have proven themselves to show such qualities as loyalty, competence, and productivity in service to the goals of the head of the family.

No one has ever accused Trump of any of these traits in service to anyone but himself, ever. And he doesn't even rate that high where he himself is concerned.

You nailed it with 'useful chump and clown'. No need to try and build him up beyond that.

I imagine the conversation going like this:

Godfadder, we need to bury Vinny Two Fingers in concrete. How we gonna do it without being noticed by da Feds?

My son, pay a little cash to that chump and clown Donny T**** to put another floor on top of his latest office block. Put some of the boys on concrete duty for him. Her always appreciates free work. So I'm sure Donny won't notice a little "extra" in one of the floors.

And if one adds bravery, willingness to follow a code of silence, and respect for the hierarchy then Donald the Cowardly is zero for six.

About twenty years ago I read several books written by FBI agents about their experiences battling organized crime. One fascinating part was about their listening to the 'fellas' discuss current events on (mostly unauthorized) wiretaps. One aspect the agents found surprising. They had always felt (hoped) the boys were devastated when sentenced to long prison sentences. Not so. Or al least not during phone conversations about their impending imprisonment. They actually laughed about it. Teased one another. "What, seven years? C'mon, that ain't nuthin but a freakin coffee break." Comments like, "Hey is Joey boy still in Dannemora? That's where I'm headed. Wait'll I see him!"

False bravado? The agents had to admit, listening to them on the phone, it didn't sound like it. Instead, the FBI agents grudgingly admitted, these were some tough guys.

No. Doesn't sound like trump. Not at all.

I suspect Trump will avoid many of the criminal charges by simply dying before they are finally adjudicated.

Sounds plausible, it's not like he doesn't have the resources to kick off appeal after appeal.

Then again, Donald Trump has been suspected of being a dodgy businessman for decades and there has been an absence of actual criminal charges. I'm not sure that's going to change.

I wonder if Shakespeare were writing this final act, how would Donald meet his demise? In the arms of a porn star? While cheating at golf? From a rare new strain of COVID-19? At the hand of one of his spawn?

Open to any other literary options!

I kind of like the Cask of Amontillado option. Build the wall.

I rather like the idea of him meeting his end by a golf ball he hits ricocheting off a palm tree at Mar a Lago and smacking him right in the middle of his forehead putting him in a coma for 6 months first.

Killed in Mar-A-Lago, along with his family and close supporters, after a plan to remove the Democratic Congress using poisoned McDonald’s cheeseburgers goes awry.

Since I am not a vindictive sort, I would prefer for the golf ball to hit him in the groin, doing terrible damage requiring surgical intervention.

And while recovering from the hopefully substantial and subtractive surgery he has a Covid19 re-infection from a uniquely vicious strain which leaves him on a ventilator for months, finally succumbing to the disease after protracted suffering. And infecting the rest of his immediate family.

I mean, I wouldn't wish bad stuff on anyone.

If he does get convicted and sentenced to house arrest, I hope Dems hold a press conference and say “house arrest is appropriate for people with severe health problems.”

It’ll drive Trump nuts to have it implied that he is not in perfect health.

And when the Reps say “how dare you say the president has health problems,” the Dems can say “what are you talking about? We never said Trump’s name.”

From: Yahoo News
Attorneys for Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS) and the NAACP have served former President Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago club...Thompson and the NAACP filed suit against Trump alleging that his incendiary rhetoric and false claims of a “stolen” election amounted to a conspiracy to interfere with civil rights...The suit names Trump alongside his attorney Rudy Giuliani and the right-wing extremist groups the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers as co-defendants and builds off the 1871 “Ku Klux Klan Act,” which was “intended to protect against conspiracies, through violence and intimidation, that sought to prevent Members of Congress from discharging their official duties,” according to a complaint.

Sadly its only a civil suit, but hey, anything that causes legal headaches for Trump is fine by me. (I recognize that the lawsuit is probably a longshot... issues of free speech and whether the defendants have standing an all.)
According to Just Security Litigation Tracker:

https://www.justsecurity.org/75032/l...-donald-trump/

"The complaint was filed on Feb. 16, 2021 with defendants’ summonses attached. According to the summonses, defendants’ answers are due in late April. On Apr. 7, 2021, ten additional members of Congress moved to join the lawsuit as plaintiffs."

I wonder which Congresspersons they are.

Sadly all they found was a bottle of expired hair dye, a map showing the location to the 4 Seasons landscaping company, and one of Hunter Biden's lap tops.
