Which one is the dumb son? Is it Eric or Donald Jr? Or both? I can't remember.

I have a page of thread to still read, so I hope not to cover something already covered.

Although Spicer just really blundered into this one and the Anne Frank Center response did somewhat mischaracterise it as Holocaust Denial, the reality is that there will be people who use Spicer's to support their position. His intent was not denial, but that was the effect.

This same argument could be put forward for a few of Trump's comments and positions. He might not mean to appear racist, but racists are emboldened by his some of his words and actions.

Eric is the one that is caricatured as the airhead, but don't be too hard on him, he's good at shooting animals.

You know, every time I hear a news reporter speak the phrase "President Trump", I hear it in a different font. As if whoever's name is supposed to be there has been cut and replaced with this alternate one. Kind of like "cdesign proponentsists"

Certainly Spicer made a mess of the whole thing.

But I can sort of see how he stumbled into that.

He was thinking of battlefield use of gas as a tactical or strategic weapon.

And his point was probably that even Hitler did not stoop to using chemical weapons on the battlefield.

It's use in gas chambers was a crime against humanity, but a different application.

Before I'm accused of being an anti-Semitic apologist, I'm Jewish by birth. I'm just trying to apply the "Principle of Charity" the Steve Novella has discussed over on the SGU.

I agree with you on what his thinking probably was.

However, his job is Press Secretary which means his job is to speak clearly on difficult topics. He has been a failure at that job and this latest mess is all of his own fault.

Man is Donnie back peddling on Foreign Affairs........

Meanwhile, the unexpectedly close special election in Kansas seems to be scaring the GOP quite a bit.

No matter what, don't show up the boss, even if you, yourself didn't do it.

Trump Refers to Bannon as ‘A Guy Who Works for Me’ in WSJ Interview

Tell me this isn't pathologic:
Quote:
Last night Trump seemed to downplay Bannon’s role by saying, “I like Steve, but you have to remember he was not involved in my campaign until very late. I had already beaten all the senators and all the governors, and I didn’t know Steve. I’m my own strategist and it wasn’t like I was going to change strategies because I was facing crooked Hillary.”

Add in a few delusions of grandeur to round out the pathology:
Quote:
During the interview, according to the Journal, Trump was also “threatening to withhold payments to insurers to force Democrats to the negotiating table” on health care.

What this is all about is that Donnie has realized that he no longer has to be a petty grifter and suck up to the Mercers; he's got the entire US Treasury to pilfer. With daddy's little darling and the SoE(Secretary of Everything) being whatcha call yer Jews,.... Bannon and his despicable fellow travelers are taking the long walk.

Donnie was heard singing in the shower:

I ain't gonna work on Bekah's farm no more
No, I ain't gonna work on Bekah's farm no more
Well, I'm up in early morning, got some Twitters on my brain
I got a head full of ideas that are drivin' me insane
It's a shame the way she makes me scrub the floor
I ain't gonna work on Bekah's farm no more
I ain't gonna work for Bekah's husband no more
No, I ain't gonna work for Bekah's husband no more
Well, he hands you a nickel, he hands you a dime
He asks you with a grin if you're havin' a good time
Then he makes you hire a nazi whore
No, I ain't gonna work for Bekah's husband no more

That's actually a broken campaign promise.

But, probably a good thing he broke it. It makes the likelihood of a trade war that could be bad for the whole world economy less likely.

Quote:
"On day one of a Trump administration, the US Treasury Department will designate China a currency manipulator," he wrote in a Wall Street Journal op-ed in 2015. In his Contract With the American Voter describing his plan for his first 100 days in office, he pledged: "I will direct the Secretary of the Treasury to label China a currency manipulator."

If I could have called him, I would have asked him if the USA, by that reasoning, should start bombing half of Africa.

Add to the claims this proves Trump was not in bed with the Russians, Trump going on and on about how US-Russia relations are at a low point which seems a bit put on.

This sums up Trump's willingness to sell out his "base" at the drop of a hat quite nicely.

Quote:
Bannon’s supporters believe he is an essential conduit between Trump and his nationalist, populist base. The wealthy Mercer family, which has nurtured Bannon’s political rise and infused Trump’s campaign and allied groups with millions of dollars, is closely monitoring Bannon’s falling fortunes. Rebekah Mercer, who directs the family’s political activities, is unnerved and worried about losing her best link to a president her family takes credit for helping get elected but believes Bannon will be able to maintain his influence, people close to the family said.
The real base is a wealthy heiress.

Odd article. The author keeps referring to the president of China as "Jinping". It's President Xi. The surname comes first in Chinese (and most other East Asian languages). The author doesn't seem to understand this.

Quote:
“Let me explain something to you, this is during dessert,” he said of his meal with Jinping.
Quote:
Trump said that Jinping “paused for 10 seconds” which he didn’t think “was a good sign”, but then added “anybody that uses gases, that was so brutal, to do that to young children and babies, that’s ok”.
Trumpese word salad.

Trump has basically flipped his position on China. Who would have thunk that either Trump is a liar or that the Chinese president is better at this than Trump?

The only winners of the Trump presidency will be rich people. Unless Trump is too incompetent to get tax reform through. If so, even most of them won't be winners. Though he will hurt lots of brown people and bigots will count that as a win.

As someone remarked, everything in this tweet is false, except that Estes kept the seat for the GOP (by a dangerously small margin).

Guess so. Trump doesn't seem to be a big reader. Except the Bible of course, especially "2 Corinthians".
