I haven’t watched the video, but who is claiming she’s a nurse? As far as I can tell, she was most likely a call centre worker, so probably never even saw a hospital, let alone inside an ITU.

NHS Direct? Not for much longer one hopes - after all, she’s not busy at all so they can clearly do without her...

Could some kind moderator please change the title of this thread?

The person in question, as pointed out, is not a nurse nor any kind of actual healthcare worker.

It is certainly annoying this particular retired nurse...

Use the report button on the OP. You won't get the poster or yourself in trouble, you are allowed to use the report button for "housekeeping" (see the MA)

Oh she's an Icke fan. Yeah the OP needs to replace 'Nurse' with 'Moron'.

I have been in touch with the Powers That Be, but I also wanted to publicly acknowledge my unhappiness with the title: why not call her "doctor" or "psychologist" or "physiotherapist" or "pharmacist"? She's none of those either.

I did put Nurse in inverted commas. But I have habit of writing thread titles in tabloid headline style.

OK, so why didn't you use "doctor" or "psychologist" or any of the other equally inaccurate clinical titles you could have done? That would have been just as "tabloid". Especially when worker would use fewer characters...

"Nurse" is also the name of a species of shark.

And I agree, it's insulting to use any other word but "moron".

Yes, as a retired nurse it matters to me, 'cos I am totally - insert expeltive of choice - 'd off with folk misusing the professional title "nurse" in such a careless and generally demeaning way which, so it seems, they will not do for other professional titles. I've been reading and hearing this sort of bolleaux for more years than I care to recall and am yet to find it done in a complimentary way.

But apparently you don't care much about other folks' professions and are far more bothered about writing tabloid headlines...FFS.

And another question: if the person here had been male, would you have still have (mis) used the term "nurse"? Or would you suddenly have remembered that other healthcare roles exist?

OK, now that I'm paying a bit more attention here: There is nothing in that article or on the FB page that I can see where they identify this woman as a nurse.

"A woman who works for a major NHS provider"

How the **** is that a nurse? She could be the janitor or a receptionist or a medical assistant.

If the UK has been like here in the US, if she wasn't working on anything to do with COVID patients, she probably wasn't busy. Our emergency rooms have been quiet for most normal things. In fact, a chunk (no one knows how big yet) of our excess deaths are people with heart attacks or strokes who didn't go to the ER when they should have and could have been saved. I heard a story on the local NPR station about parents who didn't take their kid to the ER when he broke his arm out of fear of COVID. The fact that she wasn't busy lends credence to the virus.
