Corona Virus Conspiracy Theories....
I have not yet had the nerve to go to the nut websites and check on this, but I would be surprised if they are not going bonkers over the corona virus outbreak.
OK, I did not get the nerve to go the sites themselves but found this summary of some of the wackiness from "Rolling Stone:" https://www.rollingstone.com/culture...theory-942416/ |

There is featured a tweeted photo of a girl enjoying some [revolting-looking] bat soup.
This is not disinformation as scientists studying the DNA of the virus say it is indeed bat origin in nature. How did it get into the human virus chain? It almost certainly is a result of the Chinese fondness for wild animal consumption. |

1. I doubt this: coronavirus has an RNA genome and does not replicate through a DNA intermediate. There is no viral DNA. Furthermore the virus would not leave any sequences or other traces in a host's DNA. Perhaps you are thinking of reverse transcription/PCR which can identify viral RNA either on its own or in a host cell?
2. There is now some evidence that this virus may have first appeared prior to the infections associated with the food markets. Not definitive but enough to indicate more studies will be required to be certain or not. A photo of a girl eating bat soup (or to be accurate, what is presented as a photo of a girl eating bat soup) does not address this question. |

Folks, keep in mind that this thread is strictly for conspiracy theories. It is not a thread for misconceptions which are not specifically conspiracy theories.
If this thread is not kept to conspiracy theories then it is a parallel thread to the one already existing in Science/Medicine Forum and therefore is subject to merging. |

Steve Pieczinik, on the Alex Jones Show, said that he was patient zero with pneumonia due to this corona virus outbreak, and that he treated himself. He apparently got it from meeting with some Chinese intelligence officials.
He also claimed that we have no Surgeon General or health infrastructure in the USA. |

How long until the hucksters show up, selling a "cure for the coronavirus THEY do not want you do know about" .
I could see the Jude Law character in "Contagion" happening for real. |

Only conspiracy theory I find plausible is that the Chinese Government might be lowballing and juggling the figures to make it seem less serious then it really is to try to avert panic. Authoratarian governments like to do stuff like that.

Did you know that people killed by the virus reanimate as Zombies?
That's why the Chinese rush to have them cremated. It's the only explanation. |

Here's a Metabunk thread on another 'the virus was artificially created' claim: https://www.metabunk.org/threads/cla...navirus.11103/ Since no one has bought this up, it's interesting to note that the 1975 British TV series 'Surviviors', set in the aftermath of a devastating viral outbreak had a title sequence implying that the illness resulted from the accidental release of a bioweapon under development by the Chinese! By contrast the 2005 remake of the series blamed the fictional illness on an attempt to genetically engineer a cure for the common cold. |

There was a paper uploaded to bioRxiv prior to peer review, which claimed that the novel coronavirus had genetic sequences from HIV and implied that it had been deliberately created as a bioweapon. It's since been withdrawn, but Forbes has an article about it.

Natural News is getting on the act (there's a surprise) by claiming it is 'irrefutable' that the virus was engineered in a lab:
http://dailyheadlines.net/irrefutabl...20DH.NET%206PM Dr. Francis Boyle claims it was engineered: https://greatgameindia.com/dr-franci...arfare-weapon/ |

Well, if you're targeting an entire population, you would probably want to increase the contagiousness while delaying the onset of symptoms to reduce visibility and prevent the authorities from taking preventative action until as many people are infected as possible. That's how I always win the browser-based game Pandemic. ![]() |

For only society can give or concede it to them; they themselves cannot take it, or give it to themselves. |
