If he is incapable of making a qualified, knowledgeable decision, then why on Earth would he need a logical argument one way or the other? And, to reiterate my actual question, rather than the one you answered, why should he be forcing that decision for when it can’t be forced on him?
If we can acknowledge that there is a difference between the “have uteruses” and the “don’t have uteruses”, we should have to justify why the “don’t haves” get to dictate what the “haves” can do, instead of just assuming it. |

Isn't this entire thread all about 5 SC justices who declared that the constitution suddenly means something completely different just because they could? They certainly didn't care if they had a uterus or not.
I don't know what makes you think that a politician would have greater moral integrity than an SC judge. |

Perhaps, but this particular line of discussion is about whether or not anti-choice men, or “have nots”, should STFU [and listen] about abortion. You say it’s a bad argument. I say, slow down, there is actually is a pretty good argument to be had behind the somewhat in-artful vernacular.

That just about brings this line of discussion around to a full circle. Do you just want to complain that politicians/judges should be more sympathetic to a pregnant woman's POV or do you want to do something more effective?
If a politician won't listen to a "pretty good argument" then the argument can't be all that good. For politicans anyway, a better argument is "this will cost you votes". |

I thought that encapsulated every thing you said quite well. What you want means diddly squat in politics. It is all about what influence you can bring down to bear on your politicians.
At least that is what I think. You apparently have a completely different perspective. What does that mean? What "actual argument" can't I address? STFU? |

I once wrote a proposed bill repealing my state's "seduction" statute and a white paper to support it. It was a 3L seminar involving a state legislator. I stumbled upon the statute and thought it was stupid...
This was a statute that allowed a father to file a civil suit against anyone who had sex with his daughter out of marriage. In researching the legal history I found some old legal scholars pointing out that seduction as a crime should rightly be punished harder than rape because with rape all the rapist did was harm the property interest in the body while seduction involves not only the body but also interfered with the emotional connection. So the upshot being that a father was harmed more if his daughter fell in love with and had sex with someone he didn't approve of than if his daughter was raped. So there should be a greater punishment. Which at the time blew my mind and was one of those things that sort of put the idea of "traditional legal principles" in proper context for me. |

Sadly, there are many women the believe that they should be subservient to men. These conservative women believe in a hierarchy because of religion or other nonsensical belief system they've been brainwashed into.
I met one such woman that was so brainwashed that she actually believes rape isn't a real thing, that no woman can be raped, that no man can overpower the legs of a woman to keep them closed. Her belief fails on so many levels. She also was a racist and wife of a klan member. Guess political party she votes for.... |

I was expressing my opinion. Is that okay with you?
Or do you want to keep on ? I live in Oregon. I don't have to convince my CongressMAN of anything since abortion rights are protected by law here. "Oregon was one of the first states to legalize abortion, and the right to an abortion is protected in the state constitution. There are no designated waiting periods or mandatory ultrasounds or counseling, and minors are not required to inform or gain consent from a parent before the procedure. " |

It is funny to listen to some rant about how only the opinions of women matter on this issue. Clearly this has been proven to not be the case.
In fact, I'd say men deserve more say and influence in this matter...although I don't know how this can be practically applied. Ideally, no woman should be able to abort without the agreement of the actual father (does not apply in cases of donors, obviously). And I would not support such in cases of rape and/or incest. I think the issue of Roe being overturned is just the beginning on these matters...it is opening the door to discuss some serious issues that have been suppressed for decades. |

If the right to existence is conceded to new-born children, then they have the right; if it is not conceded to them, as was the case among the Spartans and ancient Romans, then they do not have it. For only society can give or concede it to them; they themselves cannot take it, or give it to themselves. |

Look I’m pro-choice, but men are not effected by pregnancy?
I’m very fortunate to have seven children with my wife. But there were occasions when we has the embryo tested for abnormalities, even those where a healthy baby could be born. Are you saying the father should not be effected by a decision to abort? Thankfully we were not faced with this, and if we were, I would have gone with my wife’s decision. But it would have been tough for me. Your position is over simplistic, especially if it involves couples in a relationship. |

Yeah, this is one of those things were input is nice & desirable & probably healthy in most cases; but where the man's "rights" should be exactly zero.
Also, the woman may or may not have considerations toward the man based on the relationship she may have with them; but she has zero obligations to them. Sent from my M2007J17G using Tapatalk |

I didn't say men are not affected, now did I? I said not risking anything. You show me the man who died during childbirth, or the man who suffered organ damage, or even the man who got stretchmarks and pees a little everytime he sneezes, and I'll agree men face physical and mortal risks for being pregnant.

Look I know this is an emotional thread, but this post is highly offensive. My wife had three miscarriages. We both grieved them and supported each other. Few social repercussions? Utter ********.
Just to repeat myself, with a couple in a relationship a decision to have an abortion can be a complex, anguished and shared experience. Did I say simplistic before? It should have been infantile. |

You may notice that the passage you quoted neither says nor implies that men are not affected.
Rather it is poking fun at the warped idea that men's feelings should be considered over those of women, as expressed above. You're looking for a fight so much that you're not even reading what we write, much less what we're responding to here. |
