By the way if you go on CNN, Foxnews, or MSNBC at this moment no mention of Trump's impeachment appears anywhere on their front page.
So mission accomplished. |

This 52 targets thing makes me sick. It's sadistic. Hitler had a similar plan for England. Don't know off the top of my head why he didn't carry it out. Well, maybe he partly did, coming pretty close to blowing up St. Paul's. Trump would earn the enmity of not just the Iranian people in Iran, but of the entire diaspora, many of them probably being Republican Trump supporters. I went to Iran during a period of sort of slightly reform-ish sentiment when Khatami was president in 2003. The regular people we met ADORED Americans. Trump would flush all that goodwill away. Some may be gone already, but this would make it far worse.
For some reason, the government of Iran approved our visas but nixed our entire itinerary. That had included looking at some of Iran's domestic problems so maybe that's why. Instead we took more of a cultural tour that included Shiraz, home to the tomb of Hafez, where teenagers gathered at night out of reverence for a poet who had been dead for 600 years. Imagine American teenagers doing that. Persepolis is another important site. One of the guides told us that after the revolution some rabid hooligans headed there to smash the ruins and were stopped by other Iranians. The motive I think was to root out icons of a pre-Islamic past. Imam Square in Isfahan is another popular gathering spot, with 2 beautiful mosques that I would hate to see destroyed. Tehran, meh, not a lot of culture their. The tomb of Khomeini is important, I guess, but wouldn't be a huge loss aesthetically. It smells of sweaty socks. You have to check your shoes at the door. Everywhere we went we were overwhelmed by the affection and fascination we were greeted with. Iran was trying to build up its tourism sector and doing a pretty good job. We saw many European and Asian tourists. That country has a lot of potential. But the whole revolution thing has turned out to be far more durable than I thought it would be 40 years ago. |

Dammit! We were planning on a cultural tour in Iran later this year. Have been saving for ages to afford it too. NOW what is going to happen if Trump and co. reduce these priceless sites to rubble? But what more could you expect from the leaders of the Christian Taliban?

Oh I don't think he has anything resembling a plan.
A toddler screaming on the floor of the toy store because you won't buy the toy he wants doesn't have a plan either, but he's going to keep doing it as long as it keeps get him what he wants. Trump most probably never planned to become the "Master of the One Man Gish Gallop" but I do, honestly, think he sort of accidental trained himself to be one. |

If Iran really wants to strike at the heart of America, the most effective way would be to attack Chick-fil-As and Waffle Houses.
I'm not joking this time. I've long thought that blowing up big government and business targets is not the way to get mainstream America's attention. If terrorists went after small cities and towns, then people would be afraid that they would be next. Attacking NYC and DC angers them, but it doesn't make them personally afraid. |

Isn't there something in this or other of his insane Twitter screeds that violates their terms and can get his account suspended?
Also, I agree with this response to him:

ftfy.
I wouldn't call it pride in this case. He's ignorant thinking threatening to send cruise missiles or whatever will stop Iran. It could very well start a war. Why on Earth claim some of the targets are "cultural"? ![]() I'm telling you, this is what you get when you install a corrupt kleptocrat in charge of a country with US military capability. |

...Yes, in fact. Trump's been flagrantly violating Twitters terms of service for his entire Presidency. And they know it.
IIRC, they directly and specifically said that Twitter was gaining lots and lots and lots of traffic specifically because of him, so they were in a bit of a dilemma. A dilemma that they've apparently decided to go with the option of not enforcing the rules when it comes to him. |

ftfy. Trump hates the brown masses, and probably anyone brown he might have to share a bathroom with. But I don't think his racism is the kind where his issue with Obama has to do with him being black.
However, being humiliated by a black man, that was probably an issue. |

Reports differ. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and Ramzi bin al-Shibh, considered principal instigators of the attacks, have claimed that the intended target was the U.S. Capitol Building. Other reports claim the White House. It's also likely the attackers had primary and secondary targets planned out.
Gut feeling if the WTC where chosen as the primary symbols of our business/montary influence and the Pentagon an obvious choice for its military symbolism, I'd guess White House as that is more a symbolic of American governmental power then the Capitol Building. But that's a guess. And there's always the long standing but unconfirmed rumor that the Secret Service has MANPAD (Man Portable) Anti-Air Missiles (Stingers or something similar) at the White House, so maybe they factored that in. |

As evidence, remember that Obama only mocked him because the media was obsessing over the idiot's constant racist blather, to the point where they only wanted to talk to Obama about that, and ignored any issue of importance. In fact, when he brought his "long form" birth certificate, he berated them for doing so.

I want Trump out of office -- and preferably in prison. But what have we come to when we gleefully suggest that a foreign power should target our president or his properties?

If I were Iran I would not attack Trump properties. Well, not attack them with the intent to kill anyone. I’d just blow up Trump’s name on the top of the building. That would drive Trump bonkers and without any loss of life, it would be hard for him to garner support for killing folks in Iran.
ETA Hell you wouldn’t even have to blow it up. Just deface the sign with his name on it. |

Can we stop talking about him as if he has a firm enough grip on mental health that he could accurately understand what the majority of Americans would do?
This is a guy who wanted to release his tax returns early in the campaign because he thought that when people saw how little he paid in taxes, they would admire his intelligence. |

Are we living in the same country, talking about the same person? Trump's supporters absolutely will rally around him if and because he was personally attacked. It is quite literally a personality cult. By now everybody should have no doubt about this.
It is not nearly a majority, but in fairness he has a firm enough grip on mental health to be able to accurately predict that the totality of his supporters and fans will do what he tells them to do because he has told them to do it. When he goes to a rally, those people cheer at literally every single thing he says, and jeer at literally every single target he picks. When he makes fun of disabled people, they too laugh at the disabled person he has mocked. When he says Democrats want to abort babies even after they've already been born, they accept it as unassailable fact and express outrage. When he stands up in front of a conservative Jewish coalition and directly, explicitly tells the people gathered that he doesn't like them and thinks they're horrible people, but they're going to have to vote for him anyway as they have no choice because they're greedy and wouldn't want Democrats raising their taxes again, they stand and cheer enthusiastically for him. When he tells them he intends to be president for longer than two terms, they clamor for the imprisonment of anyone who would object. And when he wanders into one of his word-salad nonsense-mumbles, they cheer harder and louder than at any other time. |

When the 'leader' of the so-called 'greatest nation' on Earth conducts himself like the head of a criminal organization, can you be at all surprised? It's all the more disappointing and infuriating when the purported 'good guy' is carrying on like a traitorus scumbag. That makes him, in certain respects, worse than the worst. And hence the vituperous vilification, and the desire for especially humiliating and ruinous comeuppance. Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Tango that vile orangutan and its brood infesting and defiling America.

Hoping bad things to happen to people to either hurt Trump or finally "show how bad Trump is" is psychopathic nonsense.
We should still want the best possible outcome for this scenario. "I don't want this to go as bad as possible just to show how bad Trump has made things" isn't something we should be cheering on. And it has nothing to do with defending Trump but everything to do with our own humanity. |

Considering what the target of a retaliation might be in no way suggests that one is condoning said retaliation.
