I don't understand. She's a troll. Why hasn't ignoring her magically made her go away yet?

I read the PZ Myers post like 3 times, and still thought his comment on Boebert's photo said "guns to boobs ratio." I have issues.

The one lengthy commentary post there is very interesting.

Let me correct that on behalf of PZ.

"guns to fake boob ratio".

Apol to PZ, but I had to do it.

Oh it's a photochop hack job to be sure. The "bed" of a hummer is hilariously tiny. Even with the tailgate folded down it's only like 5 feet.

MTG is 5'3" tall. No way is she lying down in that 5 ft. Hummer bed. Photoshop 100%.

Not using the proper scope for a rifle like that is a safety hazard, and at best will destroy the optic.

And I say this as someone who enjoys shooting 'trashy' loadouts. My 10/22 has an ACOG clone on it. There is nothing wrong with doing that for fun, but you have to own it and not act like some tactical operator for doing so.

EDIT: She's not even wearing glasses. I'd also have my hair pulled back, and at least something on my ejection side arm. The more I look at the picture the worse it gets, even ignoring the obvious 'where your legs at?' problem.

EDIT 2: LMAO, I was ignoring the fiction that she's supposed to be shooting from the bed of an old Humvee and didn't notice the bipod on the tailgate. That is going to be one BOUNCY reset.
A bit more on the eye relief distance and related matters...

All optical instruments employing a Keplerian, or positive eyepiece (riflescopes, binos, microscopes, astro scopes, etc.), have a particular eye relief distance. This is determined principally by the focal length of the eyepiece, and to a degree on the eyepiece design.

At the eye relief point lies the exit pupil, which is a real image of the entrance pupil, the latter nominally being the objective lens (or mirror). The diameter of the exit pupil is exactly the diameter of the entrance pupil divided by the magnification. This is how the larger light collecting area of the objective can be made to fit in the eye's smaller iris.

These kind of optical instruments operate afocally, meaning that by themselves they do not focus the light to a real image. Indeed, they send light from any one distant image point out the eyepiece as unfocused, essentially collimated beams of parallel rays. The observers eye does all the focusing, with the instrument supplying an object that appears to lie at a considerable distance if the eye is relaxed.

In order to see the full field of view, and with the best uniformity of image brightness the instrument is capable of supplying, the observer's Iris must be coincident with the exit pupil. That's why the eye relief distance is an important element.

Whether the eye be near to or far from the eyepiece, the image will not alter in focus. The only impact of the eye being not located at the eye relief distance is either vignetting, or darkening of the outer field if the eye is too close, or reduction of field if the eye is too far.

Off Topic.

There's some YouTube gun guy who nearly blew his face off when his knockoff Barrett .50 went all catastrophic on him. He suffered major injuries to his face, arms, lungs etc., and probably would've croaked it had he not been able to get to the hospital quickly. The surgeons patched him up real good and after a number of weeks, he put out a follow-up video, where he thanked . . .

You guessed it, the good lord.

That whole piece is pretty much crap.
Her set up isn't ideal but the commentary is picking fault for the sake of it and does himself no favours.

It was the Kentucky Ballistics channel.

It was a Serbu RN-50, not a 'knockoff Barret'

It seems it was a problem with the ammunition.
It seems the powder in the charge was too 'hot' either because it had unknown to the shooter been reloaded at some point with an out of spec charge or the original charge was degrading.

Forgotten Weapons did a commentary on it and 'Why guns explode'

Could be wrong, but...

Looks to me that if she laid her head down, the top of her head would be in line with the edge of the Hummer bed (not tailgate) which someone here said is 5 feet long.

If she's 5' 3" a slight bend at the knees would be enough for her to fit. She could also be at an angle within the bed.

It's too poor of an image to give it a proper forensic look. Just saying it isn't impossible for her to fit in the bed. Kind of stupid to do so maybe, but look who we are discussing.

Why would she photoshop this?

You didn't take into account the added inches to her lying down length due to her feet lying flat behind her instead of being perpendicular to her legs when standing. She's 5'3". The average shoe size for someone her height is a 7-8 which is what I wear at just under 5'4" (8). So I measured the difference in my standing height and when my foot was bent horizontal to my legs. It added 4". So MTG would really need to fit her 5'7" reclining body into that 5" Hummer bed. Ain't gonna happen.

As to why she would photoshop this? Who knows? We're talking about MTG. Rational thinking is not her strong point.

I'm more concerned with the claim she strolls around that restaurant with her sidearm in a non retention competition holster.
Hell, a full coverage tactical would be miles better... comp rigs are little more than a shelf to keep your pistol out of the dirt*.
Not smart.

(* There are many versions certainly and I haven't seen the photos, but still. )

I think you're confusing the newly-elected RWNJs; Lauren Boebert is the nutbar with the restaurant.

I lived in Colorado, Oklahoma, and Texas in my young adult days. The apparent lack of working synapses by many was a big factor in my leaving the midwest. Colorado was the best of the three, but the overt racism in the other two was bad. But the more subtle, underground racism of certain areas and people finally convinced me to leave. You couldn't pay me to live in the South or Midwest. Virginia might be an exception but too damn hot and humid. Having lived in Nashville...ew. Just ew. Give me OR/WA west of the Cascades anytime!

Just a nit - those states aren't in the midwest.

Having also been to Texas, I agree. Where I was, the flatness of the land was impressive. And the flathead locals too.

For me, the diehard people of Texas, were proof that if you lie to yourself long enough you come to believe your lies. They have had generations to convince themselves that Texas is the garden spot of the world, and there is no telling them otherwise. Hell, when my sister married a Texan, every wedding gift she received had an image or the name Texas on it. (It couldn't just be a cookbook, it had to be a Texas cookbook.)

I also found Texas to be flat (drive a mile and you have seen most of it), full of weather extremes such as tornadoes, hurricanes, ice storms and heatwaves), overt and covert racism. I spent very little time in the larger cities, so can't speak to any difference in attitudes there.

My views may be slanted as most of my time in Texas was spent at Fort Hood. (If someone ever decides to give the world an enema, I suspect that is where they will insert the tube.)

I apologize in advance for my views to any stalwart Texans on the forum.

Texas, as you may have heard, is a big state. Wikipedia lists 14 mountain ranges in Texas, and Guadalupe Peak is a couple of thousand feet higher than anything you'll find east of the Mississippi River. The hill country is named descriptively, and there are quite a few rolling hills in North Texas as well. Even the flat parts are hardly identical; no one who's been to the Texas panhandle would confuse it with Padre Island or the cypress swamps of east Texas.

Yep. Don't forget sexism. As an observant Texan once wrote:

Yep. Don't forget sexism. As an observant Texan once wrote:
Having spent my teen years in the Colorado Rockies, I found the "rolling hills" of Texas to be unimpressive. Flat by comparison, and I did say "most of it".

The misogony, sexism, and hostility to LGBTQ was definitely around.

I never made it to the gulf coast, but would like to venture there some day on a vacation.

My views may be slanted as most of my time in Texas was spent at Fort Hood. (If someone ever decides to give the world an enema, I suspect that is where they will insert the tube.)

I apologize in advance for my views to any stalwart Texans on the forum.

Apparently the shot is not photoshopped, so I have to wonder what her flat stances is in that tiny bed.

https://twitter.com/stonekettle/stat...424225287?s=21

In the full video, she pretends to blow up a Hybrid car marked “Socialism” with the rifle. Not sure if the explosion is a bunch of CGI or just packed the car with explosives. She brags about all the stuff she will do while still being the most impotent member of Congress.

Told y'all!

Now that I've actually seen the video, there is so much wrong with it I don't even know where to start, and I had the audio off! Elected official blowing **** up to make a political point is some scary stuff. This is like an ISIS propaganda video, except no severed heads. Yet. Despicable.

MTG is nothing but an attention seeker. A brainless "Look at ME!" pathetic excuse for a Congresswoman. All she does is geared toward getting attention and money. Sound familiar?

One of the best lines from your link referring to yesterday's Capitol protest:

Respectfully, many Americans thought the same about Trump. Then he ended up as their President, Head of State, and Commander in Chief. It didn't turn out so well for them.
