Don't forget Baltimore. That was 2019. Of course given T****'s attitude toward Baltimore, I'm surprised he didn't take credit for that one.

So the DOJ says it'll represent Chump in the defamation case brought by E. Jean Carroll. It's the DOJ's opinion that Chump derided, belittled and defamed Carroll in the context and capacity of the duties of POTUS. Glenn Kirschner's dismay and disgust mirrored my own. I hope there's some other motive at work here besides the two-faced 'justice' system where the privileged class stick together. Unless some satisfactory reasoning develops, this to me is just another nail in the coffin of the democratic experiment.

It would be nice if they assigned the most incompetent lawyer they could find.

I presume the reference is to the boob-in-chief disparaging Baltimore in graphically nasty terms and stupidly blaming Representative Cummings for it. Not really related to Baltimore's ransomware problems. But of course relationship to anything real or true was not the ex's strong point.

I suppose that it would make more sense if you had paid attention to the actual article. To poke at a short and simple quote -

It's not about voting.

Either way, looks like I was ninja'd a few times. Thanks to those that did!

Not happy at all about some of Garland's decisions so far, really. Sorta seems like he's engaging in a variation of bothsiderism where he's effectively trying to use institutional momentum to gloss over how overwhelmingly partisan and unprofessional Barr's choices were in a bid to restore faith in the DOJ and shield it from accusations of partisanship... from those who are very inclined to make such accusations in very bad faith and work hard to corrupt the DOJ when they have the chance.

I think he's bending over backwards not to show any influence of politics. It's the Democratic administration way, unlike GW Bush's and Dump's DOJ which were used as a political weapons.

I guess Garland's logic is that, by-and-large, DOJ personnel did their best not to break the rules under Trump, that was the work of the political appointees.
So they shouldn't be handicapped going forward because of something that wasn't their fault.

Of course, that completely ignores what the next Republican in the White House will do to destroy the Rule of Law.

Garland's has to legally booby-trap the DOJ against future abuse, and that requires establishing norms via lawsuits.

Trump the one who suggested the solution to the hacking of infrastructure billing systems was to go back to paper. That would mean purely paper billing and inventory management systems likely with all accounting done on adding machines at best.

Re-establishing certain norms in the US is probably necessary right now, so it may be a wobbly stone they're stepping on, at least it's in the right direction if that's what they're doing.

At the beginning of the trump primary season and then presidency, I mentioned here on the forum that his being a rank jerk - primarily the insults and childish name-calling - would be a poison that would bleed into society. Something that would embolden some of his followers to openly emulate as well as something that would bring out the worst in his detractors. You I can only really combat that by not being the ******* that he is.

There's people waiting in the wings to launch their own agendas; noble and ignoble, based nearly entirely on "Stopping the next Trump."

To say they bear extra scrutiny is in no way Trump apologetics.

Yeah I don't need another lance in my side, thanks.

(Although Trump's stupid enough to have understood the question in terms of voting, as I pointed out.)

The Trump DoJ subpoenaed Apple for account data from more than 100 people - House Intelligence Committee Democrats, as well as their staff and family members, in an effort to find the source of the leaks about Russia. At least one minor was included.
It's come out now because the accompanying gag order, which was renewed three times, has finally expired.

His left hand looks especially odd. The fingers aren't even gripping the bottle - they're just limply pressed against it. It's like they're numb and immobilized.

A lot of information is going to be revealed about the Trump presidency in the coming years, and I expect we'll learn some alarming things about neurological issues that were hidden from the public as much as possible. The water bottle, the shuffling, the inattentiveness, the rambling... The guy's a wreck. Reagan's cognitive decline was hidden by his inner circle, and I think Trump was worse.

You're probably thinking of the other phone records they demanded.

It's not your fault there was so much corruption that it all starts to blend together.

I think he's using it to just stabilise the bottle because his other hand is too weak.

Of course that's nothing to be ashamed of........ unless you're the kind of pretend macho moron who wants to appear to anyone as the epitome of manly confidence.

Not to mention being someone who spends an inordinate amount of time criticizing others (e.g. "sleepy Joe") for their supposed failings (despite being based on lies/distortions).

Were I in Garland's boots, I'd be inclined to rampage through the DOJ like the Tasmanian Devil, demanding that anyone with the slightest whiff of involvement in the acquisition of phone metadata for Congresspersons (and staff/family members) to immediately come forth with a full accounting of themselves. And promising that heads will roll and indictments follow where warranted.

At the very least, the DOJ's IG had better be all over this as of yesterday.

And Drumpf, Sessions and Barr should have a lot of explaining to do before Congress, as a start.

Trump.... always a classy individual...

From: Yahoo
Inside Mar-a-Lago, Trump will "show up for anything...In recent weeks, Trump has popped into engagement parties and memorial services. A Mar-a-Lago member who recently attended a club gathering for a deceased friend was surprised when Trump sauntered in to deliver remarks and then hung around, apparently enjoying himself."

Granted, if you're dumb enough to associate with Mar-a-Lago, you should expect to encounter a 70+ year old con-artist at times.

The article does point out one unexpected side-effect of Trump's legacy...

The name "Donald" fell 55 places on the Social Security Administration's 2020 list of popular baby names, coming in at a record-low 610th place, below Axton, Dariel, Marvin, and Brycen.

To be fair, like a lot of “regular” names, it’s been in a steady decline for quite some time.

Granted, if you're dumb enough to associate with Mar-a-Lago, you should expect to encounter a 70+ year old con-artist at times.
Nowadays is "Graduation party" season. My wife and I always thought it be funny if we kept generic graduation cards in the car, and then would stop by random graduation parties for cake and ice cream. How funny would it be to get a graduation card from "Bob and Sue" and then having to go to your parents and ask, "Who the heck is Bob and Sue?" when you are writing thank you cards.

Of course, we'd certainly throw a $20 in the card as a gift for the graduate.

In a statement issued by his Save America campaign, Mr Trump said he would trust Russia over "sleezebags" and "lowlifes" in the US intelligence agencies, and claimed that his 2018 summit with Mr Putin in Helsinki helped win Washington Moscow's respect.

"Despite the belated Fake News portrayal of the meeting, the United States won much, including the respect of President Putin and Russia," he said of his "productive" meeting with Mr Putin in the Finnish capital.

"Because of the phony Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax, made-up and paid for by the Democrats and Crooked Hillary Clinton, the United States was put at a disadvantage—a disadvantage that was nevertheless overcome by me."

Mr Trump caused consternation following the 2018 summit when he sided with Mr Putin when asked whether Moscow had interfered in the 2016 presidential election.

The White House later claimed that he misspoke.

But he said in his statement on Thursday night:

"As to who do I trust, they asked, Russia or our “Intelligence” from the Obama era, meaning people like Comey, McCabe, the two lovers, Brennan, Clapper, and numerous other sleezebags, or Russia, the answer, after all that has been found out and written, should be obvious."

"Our government has rarely had such lowlifes as these working for it. Good luck to Biden in dealing with President Putin—don’t fall asleep during the meeting, and please give him my warmest regards!"

"...a disadvantage that was nevertheless overcome by me."

I'm surprised Trump hasn't started to capitalize "me" when referring to himself.

What a POS that scumbag is. He is truly just an awful, disgusting person.

Trump boasts that he's 'writing like crazy' and working on 'the book of all books'

“I’m writing like crazy,” Trump said in a statement released through his leadership PAC, “and when the time comes, you’ll see the book of all books.”
Trump claimed he has turned down two book deals “from the most unlikely of publishers”. He did not provide any further details.
“I do not want to do such a deal right now,” he said.

Trump also teased that he is currently “working on a much more important project” but did not disclose more information.

Trump is apparently annoyed that Pence has signed a multi million dollar two book deal with Simon & Schuster.

Just like when Time asked him to be Man of the Year and he turned them down.
