Was there a day there wasn't a party an No 10? No wonder Boris can't remember which ones he was at and which he's wasn't.

Latest couple of shindigs

"Someone was sent to the Co-op on the Strand, a busy street nearby, with a suitcase which was then filled with bottles of wine and brought back to Downing Street,"

It looks like we might be moving from the Pandemic to Endemic phase of Downing St apologies, and will just have to learn to live with them on a daily basis.

More parties!

Number 10 held two boozy parties the night before the Queen mourned Prince Philip alone.

Staff drank and at points danced until the early hours of the night of April 16.

Hours later, the Queen went to a socially-distanced funeral for Philip.

We have spoken to eyewitnesses. At a leaving do for a No10 photographer it’s alleged:

Staff partied in the basement of No10, to music DJd by a special adviser.
One broke Wilf Johnson’s swing in the No10 garden.
Another was sent to the Co-op with a suitcase to buy booze.

Another event held to mark the departure of James Slack, Mr Johnson’s chief spinner, saw:

Staff gathered for a speech from Slack, with others dialling in via Zoom.
Drunk attendees spilling into the garden.
Chatting and drinking into the early hours.

At the time Britain was in Step 2 of lockdown easing - which banned indoor gatherings and imposed the rule of six outside.

It's the Telegraph breaking this, the Tories' house paper.

It's no wonder that the Sun has been so reluctant to put No10 parties on their front page when their Deputy Editor James Slack was involved himself.

It's going to be very hard to try and pretend you mistook a gathering with a DJ and suitcases full of booze for a work event.

Is this country run on Pinot Noir? Who are these drunken ******* and why are so many of them at the heart of government?

This is quite frankly unbelievable, the Met will only investigate if the Downing Street fixer, who has a reputation for making sure that unfortunate evidence never sees the light of day, and has been brought in to ensure that the government is exonerated, finds evidence of criminal wrongdoing.

If ever I'm suspected of a crime, I'm going to insist on similar treatment with my defence barrister leading the investigation into the alleged crime.

Of course there are so many alleged parties to investigate that the investigation will take months, if not years. The heat will go out of public feeling about it and at some convenient point, sufficiently long before any general election, the results of the investigation will be released (if, as expected, they clear Boris Johnson and his chums) or the release will be delayed because it would be inappropriate to release the findings at such a politically sensitive time.

The statistics are looking uncomfortable again.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-5...ost_type=share

Confirmed cases are dropping rapidly - but then again so are the number of tests, people simply aren't bothering because there's a major disincentive to be tested (and isolate) unless you're very ill (or a Prime Minister wanting to avoid awkward questions for the next few days).

Hospital admissions are rising rapidly - as expected this mirrors the pre Christmas rise in cases. If cases are being under-counted then hospital admissions may continue to rise.

Deaths are also rising rapidly, currently running at close to 2,000 a week, the highest since vaccinations have been generally available.

The response from UK governments ? To announce victory over Covid and remove restrictions to protect the public.

It gets more surreal by the minute -

"The leaving drinks for Josephs* in the Cabinet Office, took place on the same evening on 17 December, the same evening that the permanent secretary Simon Case, held a gathering in his private office.

When news of that gathering emerged Case had to recuse himself as head of the inquiry into the Christmas party allegations and hand it over to Sue Gray"

So, the man investigating parties had to quit that role because he'd had a party

Please tell me I've misunderstood the situation. That would be strangely preferable to understanding it.

*Kate Josephs, the former head of the Government unit responsible for drawing covid-19 restrictions.

And even more remarkably, Kate Josephs used to be head of the civil service Covid taskforce so she cannot claim ignorance IMO.

Quote:
The former head of the civil service Covid taskforce - the team responsible for drawing up Covid restrictions - says she's sorry for holding a leaving party during lockdown in 2020.

Kate Josephs, now chief executive of Sheffield City Council, has tweeted a statement in which she says she had drinks with colleagues on the evening of 17 December.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-5...ost_type=share

As Angela Eagle said, maybe it'd be easier to investigate the nights when there wasn't a party.

If you are wondering why the Met have ignored the parties at Downing Street, could it be because the brother of Sajid David happens to be Bas Javid who is Deputy Assistant Commissioner at the Met?

EXCLUSIVE: No 10 staff held ‘wine-time Fridays’ throughout pandemic with Boris Johnson regularly witnessing the gatherings.

Downing Street staff held 'wine-time Fridays' throughout the pandemic with Boris Johnson regularly witnessing the gatherings.
Sources told the Mirror that the Prime Minister encouraged aides to “let off steam” despite indoor socialising being banned under lockdown rules.
The regular event was so popular that staff even invested in a £142 drinks fridge to keep their bottles of white wine, Prosecco and beer cool.
Reports that staff took a suitcase to a supermarket to stock up on booze ahead of a party on the eve of Prince Philip ’s funeral were not a one-off.

Sources claimed that aides took turns on Fridays to visit the local Tesco Metro in Westminster with a wheely suitcase to fill up the 34-bottle capacity fridge.
An extraordinary picture has emerged of the chiller being delivered through the back door of Downing Street on December 11, 2020.

Wine-time Fridays’ were scheduled into the electronic calendars of around 50 No 10 staff between 4pm and 7pm every week.

You think the wine stories are bad? wait until cocaine stories start coming out.
There's no way the occupants of Number 10 were drinking that amount of booze during the day without a little something to "straighten them out". It would explain a lot of pandemic decisions!

I thought that the excuse was that they were working hard and needed to decompress. Wish I could knock of at 4 on a Friday.

The old joke was that an alcoholic was someone who drank more than their doctor. Now it seems that it's someone who drinks more than their Prime Minister (or at least his senior staff)

NEW: I’ve seen the email invite for this. Over 40 were invited- including No10 political aides and civil servants. Invitees include the PM’s Chief of Staff Dan Rosenfeld and Comms Chief Jack Doyle.
When asked to confirm or deny actual attendance Downing St didn’t reply tonight.

Didn't one of the tabloids do a "wipe-down" of the Houses of Parliament estates and find traces of cocaine all over the place? Mind you, Johnson has previously admitted to attending parties where cocaine was on offer...

Anti-vax’ doctor who confronted Sajid Javid charges £500 an hour at private ‘breathlessness clinic’

The intensive care doctor who told Health Secretary Sajid Javid he refuses to have the Covid vaccine because he has acquired “natural immunity” through infection has been charging private patients £500 an hour at his “Breathlessness Clinic” on Harley Street.

Dr Steve James, a consultant anaesthetist at King’s College Hospital (KCH) in London, has been a director at the clinic for almost four years while working in the NHS. His personal website says he adopts a “health medicine” approach which “is research based and takes a deep dive into your physiology to create an individually tailored program that is complimentary to other practices of medicine”.

Dr James also offers a “sleep school” and a “human performance programme” for getting yourself on to a positive trajectory, more powerful, more centred, more connected, to help you achieve what you want, in the way that you want” , among other holistic approaches to health and wellbeing. Consultations costs between £300 and £500 each.

Dr James has worked at KCH for 10 years but has now hospital distanced itself from him. A spokesman told i: “We do not run or endorse the clinic in question, or the treatments on offer – so any and all questions about this service are for Dr James to answer.”

Levelling up at its best…

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/h...-b1992621.html

Quote:
…. Long Covid: Poorest patients denied specialist NHS treatment

Exclusive: Fears that lack of NHS treatment will increase wider inequality….

Data shows that patients from the poorest areas account for just one in five patients at the clinics, though separate figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) suggest that those living in the most deprived areas are 40 per cent more likely to suffer from long Covid than those from the richest areas.

Anti-vaccine, sovereign citizen conspiracists enter a vaccination centre claiming they are "constables from the common law court" and telling members of the armed forces that they are "under arrest" for "high treason".

Video in link

https://twitter.com/Shayan86/status/1482412774542163972

As someone points out, the tactic seems to be to hassle vaccination centres shortly before they close for the day, in order to get footage of them packing up.
That's then sold to the gullible as "Victory! We shut them down!"

There are people who might be intimidated by these idiots but I don't think it is going to be either the Army or the Police.
Plus, telling Marines they are Army isn't going to go down well.
