I agree it's not a very useful nit to pick. But if a poster says the meaning is obvious, then gives 2 different interpretations, IMO the meaning must not be so obvious. Then another poster comes along and offers a fourth possible interpretation. My main point isn't who's right and who's wrong but the difficulty figuring out what Trump is saying at all. It's a mind-numbing exercise.

I gotta wonder what his supporters make of it. Many of them - not all, certainly, but quite a few - are probably fine with the the implication of summary execution.

ETA: Which ties in well with the purported topic: fascism.

"You know, you had that one guy who killed somebody in the street in Portland. Took 'em 3 days to arrest. I sent in the US Marshals, you know? 15 minutes later, it was over"

From his later rally in Macon Georgia today

Newsweek: President Donald Trump called for Democratic Presidential Nominee Joe Biden to be thrown in jail, prompting the crowd at his Georgia rally to chant "lock him up" on Friday evening.

"That Biden family and others, but that Biden family is corrupt, a corrupt family," he said, which triggered chants of "lock him up" from the crowd.

"We should lock him up. Lock up the Bidens. Lock up Hillary," the president continued, as the chants grew louder behind him.
That's the POTUS, naming political opponents and calling for their arrest and jailing, along with his loony supporters. Fascist as fascist can get, in full emulation of his hero -- and likely anal bromance partner* -- Putin.

*Don't like that? Well, then, don't have secret meetings that no one else, except a gagged translator living in fear, can be privy to.

It's definitely disheartening that so much of the American public wants Trump to jail his enemies without anything close to "due process" as is U.S. tradition. "Lock her up," "send her back," "lock him up." And he manages to ignore the fact that he hasn't been able to do any of that, because his own Justice Department won't throw away all legal standards and ethics just to cater to his whims. Which is actually kind of encouraging, knowing that Bill Barr is not quite ballsy enough to pursue blatantly political prosecutions. He's already said he'll go down with the Trump ship, and I hope he gets the chance to do that. But frankly I think he could get fired even before the election. He certainly didn't seem to have played a key role in getting Hunter Biden investigated. That must bug Trump A LOT.

And once the new SCROTUS declares him President despite losing the election, all bets are off. By 2022 opponents and journalists will be being arrested right and left. No, wait -- only left!

There would be right wingers in the bunch; anyone who pisses Trump off is subject to a lifetime of his petty revenge.

Privatize the profits and socialize the losses. It's the American way. That's how Mnuchin got rich. Worse, he did it on the backs of elderly people who had been conned into reverse mortgages. Mnuchin paid zero, took on the debt then taxpayers bailed him out.

Does extra-judicial executions count as another reason to call the Trump regime fascist?

Lawyers say they can't find the parents of 545 migrant children separated by Trump administration

About two-thirds of the 1,000 plus parents separated from their kids under a 2017 pilot program were deported before a federal judge ordered they be found.

Quote:
WASHINGTON — Lawyers appointed by a federal judge to identify migrant families who were separated by the Trump administration say they have yet to track down the parents of 545 children, and that approximately two-thirds of those parents were deported to Central America without their children, according to a filing from the ACLU on Tuesday.

The Trump administration instituted a "zero tolerance" policy in 2018 that separated migrant children and parents at the southern U.S. border. The administration later confirmed that it had actually begun separating families in 2017 along some portions of the border under a pilot program. The ACLU and other pro-bono law firms were tasked with finding the members of families separated during that pilot program.

Man with van full of guns had checklist to 'execute' Joe Biden, authorities say

Quote:
NBCNews. A man who was arrested in North Carolina on child pornography charges this year had a van full of guns and drove within 4 miles of Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden's home with a checklist to "execute" him, authorities alleged.
I love how Banana Republicans keep on illustrating how QAnon is all projection. Good Ole Proud boys have the market cornered on child molestation and terror.
