You obviously have no idea what spamming is. Joobz is simply posting new, updated lists of the people who remain unconvinced by your evidence free posts.
As such, each post is obviously different from the previous one, and serves a scientific function in that in provides at least some measure of the effectiveness of your posts in this thread. i.e. not spam Why do you fear that that should be measured? They do. Unfortunately for you, your posts are not among their number. All you can provide is a "coulda, shoulda, kinda, sorta, mighta" argument, and only then if we all look the other way while you redefine the language. Stop doing that. Fact of the matter is there is no bandwagon, this is a measure of the effectiveness of your argument. You don't like that much, but there it is. I didn't personally think it possible, but you have made me less sympathetic to religiosity in all it's forms. well done thou good and er...faithless servant. I sometimes wonder are you a subversive atheist, a new sub-type, seeking to discredit theism from within. As an aside, Joobz could you add me to the "Doc proved gibberish in the Holey Babble" list also? Ta. |

Well, if "Joe" states he is unconvinced, then he is unconvinced.
Can you provide evidence that "Joe" is secretly convinced, but afraid to admit it? Because that is what you are effectively claiming. "Joe"'s being unconvinced is not "Joe"'s opinion. It is a statement of fact based on "Joe being unconvinced. "Joe" knows if he is convinced or not convinced. Are you claiming "Joe" doesn't know whether or not he is convinced? Or that "Joe" didn't understand the evidence? |

You've given solid evidence of the following things:
1) that you don't respond to challenges to your position, but simply repeat failed assertions a week or so later; 2) of your acting hypocritical; 3) of trying to weasel out of the full meaning of the prophecies under discussion; 4) of torturing English grammar in the process (in addition to, I might add, torturing Ancient Greek grammar in an earlier debate about Luke 2:1-2 in which you failed to respond) 5) of actually unconvincing ever more readers/posters of the thread, as proved by joobz' ever-growing list. I haven't seen, though, a shred of evidence for the fulfillment of these Biblical prophecies from you. |

So only your anonymous voice counts? Why are you trying to silence others?
It is only you who is attempting to limit evidence. No one else. If you wish to address the historical arguments made by Tim and others, you are free to. However, you avoid it at every turn. It is one of the many reasons why 41 people find your arguments entirely unconvincing. |

That is utter rot, I have posted my verifiable identity and credentials on this forum, I am not anonymous. Nor are many others.
However, YOU ARE anonymous. What is that called DOC? As I before stated, your posts are not counted in their number, and do not stand scrutiny. |

Out of morbid curiosity, i read the first 5 pages here, then quickly decided not to waste my time after the arguments went circular.
I've never seen convincing proof of accurate biblical convincing, but it is remarkable why hordes of skeptics seem to revel in attacking a sole believer like a pack of wolves. Kind of reminds me of all the fly-by-night anonymous internet commentators who love to yell insults at each other. Doesn't seem like the sole believer is going to change is mind, so why the desire to respond? Does it make people feel more self-assured of their opinions? Certainly no outsiders are gleaning any educational info from this. I think to be a fair fight it should be 1 on 1, or at least a moratorium on responses after about 3 or so until the OP can respond. I for one wouldn't be bothered, but hey it's not my fight... |

Stanfr, each of the people responding to DOC is an individual who feels they have something to say in response to his posts. Why should they be restricted in doing so? Each person will see some point from a slightly different angle and choose to respond accordingly. They'll also pick up on points missed by others.
Further, some people have done a lot of research on the subject in the past and will wade in with substantive posts from which we can all learn. I wouldn't want them to feel like they shouldn't participate just because they arrived late to the party. Finally, I don't think anyone here believes DOC will change his mind. They're refuting his claims as they should, and lurkers like me appreciate that. |

Here's a small sample, just from the first few pages (all different posters!):
"Do you even understand the logic there, DOD?" "Anyone who doesn't question this story must be a complete git" "DOC-Why do you keep using logical fallacies in almost every post?" "DOC-Is it really that impossible for you to fathom.." "DOC-I don't mean to present proof of your deceitful dishonest methods..." I'd like to bet (that DOC) is a dishonest, unscrupulous person" "DOC Do you realize just how moronic you sound...do you really believe this crap...you sicken me" "He (DOC) is only worthy of ridicule and insult" "Are lies and liars appropriate for Christians?" "How many people do you have to help you carry your testicles?" "You're still wrong and still living in a delusion" "DOC IS evil" Now, granted, I don't know DOC's history, but I do know that these are all personal direct attacks/insults, and were unprovoked in this post as far as I could tell. Can anyone point to a comparable remark made by the OP? That's why I think it makes y'all look very immature. |

Saying that my friend's pre-school aged daughter having terminal brain cancer is divinely just because it's a message to Americans about not having health care (despite the fact that I, and my friend, are Canadian) isn't exactly civil, either. You might also note, stanfr, that DOC prefers to play the victim by only ever responding to posts that allow him to play the persecution card, and scrupulously avoids responding in any meaningful way to the posts that tear his arguments to shreds. DOC keeps these side-tracks going as much as anyone else. Moreso, in some cases. |

One of the things that I have always found hilariously pathetic is when people whose whole world view is based upon a combination of hundreds of fallacies start calling out fallacies.... but what is more hilarious is when they actually do not understand logic that well (obviously or else they wouldn’t hold their views) and falsely claim a fallacy. I guess DOC, you need to take a good solid LOGIC class or read a good book on the subject.... and …. when you have done that…. apply the logic to your religion first before you start pointing out the specks of dust in other people’s eyes as mountains. (sorry about the mixed metaphors ) But to help you out in this case.... when the post's goal is to convince people of something and it claims to have succeeded... one way to ascertain the assertion of success is to ask the target audience what they think.... there is nothing fallacious about that.... it is called fact finding…. you know that thing rational people do about before they make up their minds. |

Can I please be added to the list of people who wanted to say this, but weren't quick anough, so when we finally got around to it, Lucian had already said it?
(And Rincewind, feel free to start an Ankh-Morpork Chapter of Thor's Thugs, but hadn't you better check first if they already have one? I think the core values and goals might have appealed to many fine Ankh-Morporkians. And if you open one, don't use the pies of CMOTB. Other than as weapons of mass destruction, of course.) |

DOC chooses to put forth his theories/allegations on a skeptical website.
He could just as easily go "PropheciesRUs.com" (made up, but you get the idea) and have the majority of posters on his "side". I just monitor and participate in threads like this in order to... 1) See if there's any "there" there concerning bible prophecies. So far, not so much*. 2) For an insight into the psychology of believers, specifically how powerful confirmation bias can be. DOC will likely never be convinced of the tenuousness of his position, though stranger things have happened. But for every poster there are likely dozens of lurkers, and many of these are probably fence-sitters who may be swayed by argument and evidence. *remember, I long ago bought and read Tim's book on the subject. Long before I was even aware of this forum. So my curiosity far predates this discussion. |

DOC, I went back to your OP to see what the thread is supposed to be about. Your link there is dead. Does that mean your whole premise for this thread is dead?
