When will the impeachment trial start?

Well, I certainly screwed up when I started this poll! It was the wrong question! So, (rule of) when will the trial actually begin?

I'm hoping it's after the State of the Union address in February. Just anticipating the entrance, intro, and reaction shots when The PDJT goes off.

The best possible outcome would be if Trump goes back to the old way of just sending a letter to Congress, and it sticks.

Bonus points if Trump does it via tweets.

But I'm sure he'll show up in person, and it's going to be yet another clownshow.

Any speech of Trump's is a clown show.

Well, yeah. And that would be on top of the clownshow that already is the SOTU address anyway.

All the more reason to go back to the President sending a letter.

As if anyone pays attention to it. On this we agree.

I actually prefer watching GOP Presidents SOTU addresses. They never want anything other than to cut more taxes for the rich and screwing everyone else. So seeing them spin that is always amusing.

Trump cannot pass up giving a speech to a captive audience that he looks down on. The question is, will he be able to forego bringing up the Impeachment?

I'm picturing that in a couple of hundred years, President for Life Trump the XVI will be having a ceremonial impeachment trial and nobody will remember why.

And Nancy Polosi will be propped up leading the charge for impeachment for the independent state of California.

Will this be a human stand in, some sort of pantomime Pelosi, or her actual mummified corpse?
I'm trying to construct an accurate mental picture.

Maybe time it so that it coincides with the supreme court forcing Trump to release his tax returns.

Heh. I thought the current narrative was that the trial starts whenever Pelosi wants it to.

The latter. It'll be similar to the Trial of Pope Formosus.

The Dems want to drag it out to give themselves any advantage in next year's election. Soon and their failure will be forgotten? A later win would be best, but they can't win, it's in the Senate. Too quiclk a win, too much time for the GOP to get it's stuff together.

Pelosi's foot dragging over rule changes is just her trying for the best timing.

Makes sense, I was thinking there had to be some sort of legal precedent to go off of.
