Silvio Berlusconi Sentenced To 4 Years In Jail

Quote:
Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has been sentenced to 4 years in jail by a Milan court over the Mediaset TV rights case, according to Reuters.

The case revolved around a plan to purchase the rights to broadcast U.S. movies on Berlusconi's private television networks.

I wonder if he'll ever do a single day.

He has just lodged an appeal against the 4 years. He wants life in a female young offenders prison.

Sentenced to 4 years - and the court immediately and automatically slashed off 3 years due to a law from the Berlusconi years (2006) that cuts sentences because Italian prisons are oh so overcrowded.

Then he goes to appeal it.

And then he still can go to the highest court, the Corte Suprema di Cassazione. This will certainly take couple of years or more.
By that time, his crimes will have exceeded the statue of limitations (shortened by a Berlusconi law), and he will be a free man.

I will ride (metaphorically) naked and helmet-less (no not that one), on a Vespa scooter through the JREF forums if Berlusconi spends even one night in prison.....

What was his appeal for? Did he want a shorter sentence, or did he want to spend his time in the local penitentiary for under-20 girls?

No, he wanted to serve his sentence as the janitor of the local girls-only high school.

No, because cartwheels are evidence of guilt in Italy.
