Yeah I vaguely recall watching some sort of doc about it years ago, and the Dallas Cowboys players getting booed and maybe even stuff thrown at them at road games... which was of course dumb AF since most of them weren't even from Texas.

Probably. I think the mint(s) also have to change dies, and the plates (or whatever they use) for printing the bills from Elizabeth's picture the Charles'. Applies to Canada to, and any other Commonwealth countries that put the reigning monarch on their money.

I've noticed the same thing. Can someone tell me if "passed away" has become offensive yet? I can't seem to keep up with these things.

I still say "died", the dinosaur that I am.

Once in a lifetime opportunity to tell your kids that the money in their piggy bank is now worthless if it has the queen on the coins/notes.

Yeah, that's one of my pet peeves. I don't mind "Today we mark the passing of HM Queen Elizabeth" so much, but "HM Queen Elizabeth has passed" really grates on me.

When I hear "so-and-so passed" I first think of school courses or transvestites. Or both. That might be an interesting school.

Sue Ellen? The character on Dallas? That's the only one I know of, and even without having seen the show since 1979 I'm pretty sure she wasn't a barrister.

Anyway, I looked it up. QCs do automatically convert to KCs, they don't have to go through any kind of process for it, it's just a matter of updating their stationery.

Perhaps they'll be enthralled by Charles's charming personality. I heard he sparkles with conviviality and is a fascinating...sorry, no, even I can't get past a certain limit of absurdity.

That's the problem. He does not have a good personality.
Maybe he can find somebody who can cover for him the way that QE2 did with the Queen Mother who was much beloved by people and had the warmth that Liz did not, until her later years, show.

Of course, he's too old to be the Young Pretender. Don't you think?

I heard that the queen's spirit has manifested in the form of a giant demon corgi and she now roams the night seeking whom she might devour. That's what I heard, anyway.

This.

I have never been a monarchist, but I may have been an Elizabethan. Now that she's dead I think we should start moving as soon as possible towards a referendum on becoming a Republic.
