Data driven findings on police responses to left versus right wing protests.

Quote:
Between May 1 and November 28, 2020, authorities were more than twice as likely to attempt to break up and disperse a left-wing protest1 than a right-wing2 one.

This is just one example of why reassurances by some posters here that the US Military won't back Trump seizing power ring hollow with me. Mike Flynn was a general in the Marines. These guys didn't develop these views only after retirement.

That's one. Do I think there were/are Trumpists in our military? Absolutely. But I have heard Trump and Flynn vilified by General after General. What worried me was how Trump was changing the military. How he was changing advancement to rewarding support for him as opposed to being performance based.

Democracy got very lucky. I believe had Trump won reelection democracy in the US was doomed. Trump is entirely incompetent in building but he and his administration were semi competent at division and destruction. He was putting a hammer to Military hierarchy. Down the road you may be right. Trump needed more time.

To be fair that may not have been as an expensive flight as you might think.

However of course it is something out of the reach of most Americans - for a day trip!

She is an excellent example of having “privilege” in USA culture and society.

He wasn't a very good Governor but Schwarzenegger is a true patriot. But I would feel a little better about that speech if it didn't include the theatrics. (See the music and the flag waving at the end) Arnold understands showmanship.

Amazing, even though 1) he is almost the same age as Stubby McBonespurs, and 2) English is not his first language, he still manages to make a fantastic speech... well laid out, emotional when it needed to be.

Okay, how about the Dems get an impeachment from the Republicans in exchange for amending the constitution to let Arnie run.

Maddow has a hypothesis that if GOP Senators just don't show up at the impeachment trial, 2/3rd vote of Senators on the floor could have Trump removed. It probably won't happen, but I can still hope.

It would be an ideal metaphor for the spine of most GOP senators

Well at least one GOP Senator would have to show up. A quorum of 51 Senators is required to conduct business.

New footage of the insurrection showing a Capitol Policeman being beaten by Trump supprotes. One of them uses a Trump Banner to beat the cop with.
Donnie and his followers love the police....

BTW today Donnie finally lowered the White House Flag in honor of the policeman who was killed on Wendesday. He sitll has not called the guy's family. (though both Biden and Pence have).
Disgusitng.
While I was writing this, with CNN one, I just heard a reproter aks a congressman why it took Trump so long to lower the llag and he nailed it in one sentence.

In other news related to the fallout from this. The PGA is severing ties with Trump and his golf courses. Maybe they’ll be back once Deutschbank seizes them.

None of them should have been allowed to leave the scene. All the ones who passed the Capitol threshold should have been arrested on the spot.

It’s good to see him suffering some comeuppance but what a bunch of cowards these people and organisations are.

Any links to this one? I certainly believe it to be likely, knowing the nature of some in that crowd, but the only photos I've seen with this are from a Proud Boy at a different event days earlier.

Something tells me there will be pressure on Trump to divest himself of some of his iconic golf properties. Trump owns Doral which has been a regular stop on the PGA Tour and Turnberry which is also on the rota of British Open venues.
