Santos is perfect for Democrat ads in 2024.

"Vote for the guys who gave you George Santos, or the guys who have you Barack Obama. The choice is yours!"

I'm ashamed to say that in large parts of the US that would result in a switch of votes towards the GOP.

The perfect double bluff.
Wouldn’t you want your Manchurian candidate to have a personality that makes people say “he can’t be the Manchurian candidate - it’s too obvious.”

And his handlers can quietly spread a rumor: yes, he’s been bought but he’s been bought by American business interests, therefore we can trust him.

You're talking about fooling people who believe that putting on a pair of spectacles makes a crazy criminal 100% sane and respectable. It isn't a stretch.

A former roommate and friend of Santos' says the rep. was always lying about things and even stole things from him. He also said Santos took money from his mother (who was cleaner) and would blow through it and would set up Go Fund Me pages to grift money for his non-existent pet charity. He also said Santos claimed Jews would donate more if they thought he was Jewish.

A chip off the old Trump.

He called himself Anthony Devolder in a 2019 video. Maybe he is George-ish?

His use of the name Anthony Devolder goes back a number of years, according to his roommate, in this CNN interview.

He does seem to have a flat affect in the photos and videos I've seen of him.

CNN found a Twitter exchange Devolder/Santos had in June 2020. A client complains that Deutsche Bank termed the protection for their principle to be "a complete fraud." When asked to explain, Devolder/Santos tweeted, "Sorry I'm not following you."

A Nassau County (NY) Republican suggested that given the level and scope of Santos' lying he needs professional help. Meanwhile, Republican Matt Gaetz says Devolder/Santos shouldn't be "shunned."

A Kansas TV station, KOAM-TV, reports:
Quote:
Republican Rep. George Santos, said a company later accused of running a "Ponzi scheme" was "100% legitimate" when it was accused by a potential customer of fraud in 2020, more than a year before it was sued by the US Securities and Exchange Commission. Once the company, where he worked, came under federal scrutiny, Santos claimed publicly that he was unaware of accusations of fraud at the firm, a CNN KFile review of Santos' social media and statements found...In fact, according to the SEC complaint, "at no point" was Harbor City Capital "ever issued a SBLC," despite claims from the company. Dylan Riddle, a spokesman for Deutsche Bank, told CNN on Monday that they had no affiliation with Harbor City Capital. "Harbor City Capital was not a client of Deutsche Bank," he said. KOAM news link
What's going to be his fallback? At the time he stated Harbor City had been issued an SBLC by various banks including Deutsche Bank, "He believed it to be true. But Mr. Santos later determined that it was not true."

If Santos is reminded, despite saying he was "unaware" of any accusations of fraud, there is documented proof that he was made aware. Fallback? "I'm sorry I don't remember that."

As Steve Martin once put it:
Quote:
Want to rob a bank and get away with it? First, rob a bank. If caught, explain, "I forgot it was illegal to rob a bank." You had no criminal intent. They can't touch you!"
I guess George Devolder/Santos thought he was serious.

If there wasn't already enough of a reason to hate the man:

George Santos took $3,000 from dying dog’s GoFundMe, veterans say:

Are we SURE Santos isn't Trump's love child?

Santos is everything Trump would have been if Trump had not been born into a wealthy family. The only difference is the level of grifting.

Of course he's not. Trump hasn't tried to bang him yet.

He's Hershel Walker's love child.

Santos claims that this is fake news. Long pause.

If someone had written a farce-satire of politics in Washington and were the slightest bit interested in plausibility, he or she would not have come up with anything half as outrageous as the Santos/Devolder story is.

So, Santos has been put on the Science, Space, and Technology Committee.
Probably because republicans confuse science fiction with science.

Well this is still getting weird.

NEW: I just spoke by phone with Eula Rochard, a Brazilian drag queen who was friends with George Santos when he lived near Rio. She said everyone knew him as Anthony (*never* George), or by his drag name, Kitara, and confirms this photo is from a 2008 drag show at Icaraí Beach.
Ordinarily I would say this is too much to believe, but for [insert his real name here] I'll make an exception.

Santos takes a new hit, in a story that seemingly surfaced only an hour or two ago. Santos has said "consistently" that Fatima Devolder, his mother, was at work in her office at World Trade Center when it came under attack on 9/11. But the New York Times reports a review of immigration records creates doubt that the story is true.
Quote:
In an application for a visa to enter the United States filed in 2003, Ms. Devolder said that she had left the country for Brazil in June 1999 and had not returned since. In earlier paperwork filed in June 2001, three months before the attacks, Ms. Devolder said that she had been unable to return to the United States since 1999 because her green card had been stolen in Brazil. New York Times link
The Times contacted Santos' office before releasing the story but has not received any reply.

I realize neither party is corruption free, especially if you go back far enough. But if it was a race to hell, the GOP started lapping the Democrats at about the time GW Bush was elected.

I love the excuse the GOP is giving for putting Santos on committees: he hasn't been convicted of anything.

He's only been proven to be an egregious, habitual liar and lied about almost everything he ever said about himself as a candidate.

The GOP continues to show itself for what it is.

Not to mention neither Schiff nor Swalwell have been convicted of anything either yet McCarthy wants them off their committees. But then why let hypocrisy get in the way of anything.

The Hill: McCarthy amplifies vow to keep Schiff, Swalwell off Intel Committee

I'm sure there's an excuse ap for that.

I'm surprised they didn't announce Santos will be on the committee to investigate Hunter Biden, of course, that might not stop him from claiming he's on it anyway.
