All these pages because there was a power-outage, a weird sound, and a light he can't explain which somehow proves this was an extraterrestrial encounter.

But this is somehow different than when people with equally mundane video footage claim encounters with ghosts, or angels, or other kinds of woo.

No additional photographs of the location. No video footage of attempts to recreate the footage, even if only to try to support the claims.

Nothing changes.

This idea has come up a couple of times in the thread and this is a slightly worse version of it.

There is no need for the downdraft of an ion engine to be any more dangerous than the downdraft of a helicopter of the same size. You might have some specialized need to go out of your way to make it dangerous but it doesn't have to be (think Harrier Jump Jet here).

And the current mechanisms that we humans use to move air (in the atmosphere) via ion thrusters don't emit ions at all, the ions recombine inside the thruster. And most of the air they move is never ionized in the first place. In fact, whether it's an ion thruster in the atmosphere or in space, the exhaust has to be net neutral even if it's still ionized. The thruster won't work if that isn't the case.

And the part that makes your suggestion a bit more wrong than the earlier ones is the phrase "ionizing particle radiation" which isn't the correct phrase. We are talking ionized air. Which is something you experience during thunderstorms to no ill effect. I'm not sure if even our space based ion thrusters produce particles at speeds that would be consider radiation, but they might be. ETA: Exhaust velocity of our currently operating space based ion thrusters is 1% of 1% of the speed of light, so, no, not radiation. And, again, those are the thrusters operated in space.

I notice that the people posting as 'cjdelphi' at those other forums are pushing the long ago debunked missing time angle. Since our very own cjdelphi dropped that line of argument as soon as it was pointed out that that is how his cheap camera behaves, I have to assume the other cjdelphis at the other forums are just some trolls out for a joy-ride.

Happens to me all the time. When our power goes out, the powered subwoofer in the home theater makes a weird sound and the UPS has an indicator light that comes on.

No way I'm telling my wife that that's due to aliens.

Ion drives aren’t magic, which is why I suggested to the OP that he invoke something like antigravity, which could accommodate his observations rather than contradict them. But he wasn’t willing to learn. Pity. I sort off raised the same issue in post 1191 of this thread and was somewhat disabused of my suppositions. In any case "ion drive" seems to be a substitute for magic. Forget electromagnetic effects. I'm sure the acoustic ones would be enough to wake the soundest sleeper.
