Raise your hand if you thought Biden was a rotting potato when you voted for him. Good, I’m not alone.

You mean like our members who kept insisting he had dementia during the primaries?

Yeah, I was trying to figure out why that would be a negative as compared to woman, man, person, camera, TV.

Don't forget that Trump was so proud of the fact he could draw a clock, copy a picture of a cube and identify pictures of animals. He probably rewarded himself with TWO scoops of ice cream!

Trump might be corrupt, but he made his money before entering politics while Biden and son made their money because they were in politics. Well, Hunter used Joke Biden to make his money. That much is clear. And Joke lied about not knowing about it,
Well thought out and very persuasive.

You just can't make someone inform themselves. I try to get my parents to stop watching Faux, or at least add CNN (pick another one I don't care!) to the lineup. They prefer to believe what they want to.

I've never experienced anything like this in my life, not at this magnitude. They (not just my parents) just blindly follow, even in the face of the most obviously and thoroughly stupid and corrupt person that I have ever seen.

Now warning about Hunter Biden-laptop disinfo: The guy who leaked it

Quote:
“The experts found the data had been repeatedly accessed and copied by people other than Hunter Biden over nearly three years,” our report explained, with those we spoke with being unable to “reach definitive conclusions about the contents as a whole, including whether all of it originated from a single computer or could have been assembled from files from multiple computers and put on the portable drive.”

For example:

“[An expert] also found records on the drive that indicated someone may have accessed the drive from a West Coast location in October 2020, little more than a week after the first New York Post stories on Hunter Biden’s laptop appeared.”
“Over the next few days, somebody created three additional folders on the drive, titled, ‘Mail,' ‘Salacious Pics Package’ and ‘Big Guy File’ — an apparent reference to Joe Biden.”

Who actually cares about this fuss over Hunter Biden?

The laptop thing is just another failed GOP smear, though even less relevant to American politics than usual.

Not to mention that anything Giuliani has touched needs to be sprayed, bagged, and interred in salted ground.

This does not seem to me like a binary issue. I can quite easily say Hunter is not reliable, not a good guy, a kind of a dolt, all sorts of other things, and yet quite easily also say that this whole issue is a stupid and mendacious political smear by liars, criminals and thieves. Those two things are not incompatible.

I can't figure out what the consensus here is - is it that the allegations against junior (acting as an agent for his dad's influence-peddling, crack addiction, whoring and pissing money away like it's 1999 etc') are exaggerated? Entirely fabricated? True but of no consequence/relevence, just the "frailties" and peccadiloes of a well-intentioned guy?

There is no consensus. In broad strokes:

-There is a Laptop which is in the possession of the FBI which probably belonged to Hunter Biden.

-There are several “copies” of the Laptop that have been circulating among right-wing political operatives.

-There are a variety of allegations that the Laptop proves Hunter Biden was engaged in shady, drug-addict stuff.

-There are a variety of allegations that the Laptop proves Hunter Biden was engaged in shady, business-type stuff.

-There are a variety of allegations that the Laptop proves Hunter Biden was engaged in shady stuff with his father, President Joe Biden.

-Some of these allegations are true. Some of them are false. Some of them are fabricated.

-It is almost impossible to tell which is which, since the actual Laptop is in the possession of the FBI, who haven’t said anything about its contents really, while the copies are all tainted after having been through the hands of an unknown number of sketchy right-wingers.

Hunter is neither an elected nor appointed elected official, so nobody really cares that much.

Simple as that. And a rather pathetic distraction when you look at the antics of the Trumps kids, many of whom were appointed to government positions.

It's too hard to tell what is actually going on if anything. Your side of the issue has an incredible "cried wolf" problem. So many freaking lies from you side that if you guys ever actually do come across something real no one is going to believe you.

I can't even begin to imagine the kind of denial/cognitive dissonance required to hand-wave away the concern that the former VPOTUS and current POTUS might very well be seriously 'compromised'.

Yeah, this post crosses into sea-lioning territory for me. Short, no effort to address the issues presented in response to previous message, and an implicit assumption that we are the ones who have to engage.

Only way to win a game against a sea-lion is not to play.

If you feel that way about Biden, I can only imagine how upset you must feel about how compromised Trump was during his term.

OMG there are vague mutterings of impropriety based on unavailable evidence of extremely sketchy provenance! /s

Your time might be better spent examining real issues.

What do you mean handwaved? Is it or is it not being investigated by the FBI? So far, there seems to be no credibility to the accusations that the Biden administration is compromised in such a way.

This laptop story has been going on for years and yet what is supposed to make it interesting?

If you said, say, “Joe Biden has been engaged in illegal behaviour X and the laptop has information that demonstrates it” that would be one thing. If, for example illegal behaviour X was a specific crime.

But the way the story is being spun makes it sound like Hunter Biden owning a laptop itself is a serious crime and that it somehow means something very bad.

The story cannot be the laptop. So what is the story?

Since Trump has established that a POTUS is above the law, that wouldn't even matter. The right doesn't understand consequences at all. So the laptop thing is a nothingburger with no bun.

According to my reading there are two major issues that could be at play.

Did HB pay his taxes properly. Remember Trump said "That makes me smart."

The other issue is did HB act as a foreign agent without registering as one. Paul Manafort was convicted of that crime and Trump pardoned him.

There is no laptop. There is a hard drive that purports to be a clone of a laptop with a very tainted chain of custody, including files modified after said laptop was meant to have been dropped by it's owner.

Is this the laptop with serial number FVFXC2MMHV29 that the DoJ signed a receipt for with the repair shop, the laptop that Hunter says was stolen by a Russian drug dealer while he was high in a honey trap with a Russian hooker that there is a video of him telling another prostitute about, the one he left with some psychiatrist who got raided by the DEA, or another laptop?

It's the laptop that has not provided any evidence of Joe Biden doing anything illegal that the right-wingers are so desperately hoping for, largely to deflect from the Trump tax investigations and the Jan. 6th investigation.

But the link that was provided to some article "debunking" the laptop said that they had been able to validate lots of the data, it's synced from cloud email providers so showing it was altered would be easy. You've got recipients of the data validating it as well. You've got all the chat on there about Hunter complaining about having to share half his salary with his father, you've got the cuts of business deals for "the big guy". You've got hunter paying Joe's bills. You've got the secret service covering up the whole gun thing.

None of this matters even if it's true. You've got half of Congress (hyperbolically speaking) with their kids working for Ukrainian oil companies. I'm not sure anything Joe is accused of here is so wildly outside normal business for Washington. So he's been taking backhanders funnelled through his family his whole career.....? Insider trading is legal for these guys. If getting a cut out of the legislation you pass isn't wrong, I'm not sure getting a cut out of foreign aid, or international deals would be much of a leap. This isn't a partisan thing... Republican's do this too.
