My true life story is a little less direct, but a few years ago a drunk driver crashed his truck into my shop in the wee hours of the morning, causing thousands of dollars' damage. He also was able to back his big old 4WD truck out, and did not lose his license plate, but did shed some bits of grille in the wreckage. I got them together and went to a local junkyard, where they were able to identify the truck and its approximate dates. I then drove around the whole area for some time, looking for such a truck with similar grille damage. I'd just about given up when I stumbled on it quite near to home. The grille damage was there, and some pieces of the woodwork of my shop were still embedded it it. I called the cops and they arrested the guy. He was of course uninsured and broke and had lost his license already, but he paid a nominal amount to cover my insurance deductible.

Looks like Trump isn't the only political leader of a cult speaking at CPAC. Besides loonies like Trump and Ted Cruz speaking, scheduled to appear right after Donnie Jr. is this whack-a-Top Ramen-noodle-doodle:

If somebody doesn't make a movie out of this year's CPAC futtbuck, I'm moving to someplace crazier than the US of A!
Where? Jesus, that's a tough one. |

Ivanka wants to take trips with Daddy. Looks like Donny Jr wants to play 'important man on stage' with Daddy.
Did CPAC need filler speakers? They did have a lot of invites turned down. |

I’m having a hard time with the coincidence theory.
What possible functionality could that type of stage have? Look at the triangular cutout just in front of the video screen. Why would anyone add that feature? I’m guessing the higher ups simply deligated the task to someone who was really, really into Nazi-ism. ETA It is the 7th SS Division if anyone wants to check it. |

Is there a pareidolia term for Nazi symbols? I guess pareidolia can be symbols or other things so no new terms needed.

I watched the scum at CPAC laughing at being told they have to wear masks. Let's stop pretending we need to end tribalism. Trump supporters are stupid. They're just stupid. The country doesn't need them. Let them get COVID and die. If we have a tribalism that rids us of the dead weight that are Trump supporters, I say that's a tribalism real Americans should embrace.

I don't remember if it was on a thread here or on Twitter, but I saw a picture of House Republicans wearing "masks" that mostly consisted of the straps and nothing else. Maybe there was an open sheer mesh where the filter material was supposed to be, but I couldn't tell. Hypocritical ********.

There is a lady at the dog park who is a Trump supporter and today she used the word "Negro" to describe a black person, which might not be a slur, but ... where has she been for the past 40-50 years? Are there really people so innocent, or just oblivious, that they don't realize this has not been used in common parlance for decades? Even Trump is not that far out of date.

It sorta is how they work, after all. Projection is a very real thing, for better or worse.
Rather, they love their perversions of a number of Amendments. 1st and 2nd are some of the most prominent, though. Neither tends to be remotely close to the truth, of course, much as they're certainly working hard to convince people that their perversions are the way things are and thus effective make them the way things are. Given the crowd in charge and being pandered to, it's sadly more likely to be intentional than not intentional. It would hardly be the first time, after all. I saw a picture that met that description a couple days ago, I think. I thought that was a State's House Republicans, of some small note. To poke at a couple other things on the CPAC front, incidentally... 'Worshipping the golden jackass': CPAC mocked for displaying giant gold Trump statue May as well call it what it is. A literal golden idol. Also, it's a little worth paying attention to the actual request for CPAC goers to wear masks.

It is revealing how much the Trump Cult resemblance worship of the Antichrist - and all those who think they know exactly who the devil is can't see it.

It's hard to imagine how all those God-loving right wingers don't understand the Golden Calf symbol of Trump. Someone needs to photoshop that statute to make it more clear that it's a golden calf. Everyone sees it, comments about it. Lalalalala I can't hear you.
Cruz's speech got a bit of play time on Jimmy Fallon.

Aren't stars and stripes underpants kind of contrary to flag etiquette?
And what is he holding in his hand? Tinkerbelle's wand? Seeing this and the crazy set design, I'd be inclined to wonder if some concealed contrarians snuck in, but I bet the base just gobbles it up and doesn't know to blush. |

When I saw the statute I thought it was being brought in by protestors making fun of Trump.
Why is he solid gold? Is he a golden idol? Why is his head so big? Why does he look like Jimmy Carter wearing a Bob's Big Boy wig? Why is he dressed for a Zoom meeting with a suit on top and boxers and sandals on bottom? Why is he wearing the Star and Stripes on his crotch? People died for that flag. Why is he holding a fairy wand? Is he a fairy? Not that there's anything wrong with that. Why does he have big feet and small hands? Why is he wearing flip flops? Is he a flip flopper? Why is his tie so loose and small when he is known for wearing ridiculously long ties. Why is he wearing a $10 "leather" jacket that is three sizes too small? Are they sure they haven't been had? |

If it were any other leader, they would have had the shots well publicized, in order to help install confidence in the vaccine.
By the way, was it actually a good idea for him to get vaccinated so quickly after recovering from Covid himself? I remember some discussion earlier about how the antibodies from the treatment he received might interfere with the body's ability to generate the needed immune response. |

As a matter of fact, I think there was a period of time where it was considered the more acceptable form of address compared to "black", which so far as I know has switched places. In my experience few object to referring to "black" people, but other terms are preferred, such as "African-American" or "person of color".
I would expect anyone that had actually lived through the time since be aware of it, but old speaking habits die hard. From the 80s: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EWystGDXkAIUGiW.jpg |
