When he was President Trump, he talked about the US leaving NATO and he withheld military aid to Ukraine as well in order to get some data about Hunter Biden.

But fortunately for us all, Trump is the one who saved NATO (or at least, this is what he is currently saying about NATO).

Then he "read the room"... as in, the vast majority of the world calling for Vlad's head on a stick.
That, and I don't think he has the depth of imagination to grasp sarcasm.
