As per usual, Donald Trump has created yet another miserable failure.

This time, it is his new social media web site "Truth Social" that is quickly failing. And this is the same web site that Trump promised would be so very great and so very wonderful.

Instead, the truth is that "Truth Social" is failing just like his many failed promises of health care reform when he was the President.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/donald-tr...135917666.html

Donald Trump's Truth Social App Is Failing Fantastically, Report Says

Donald Trump’s Truth Social app has plummeted in sign-ups and traffic since its technically challenged launch last month, The Wrap reported Tuesday.

...

“This is down 93% from its launch week, when it saw 872,000 installs during the week of Feb. 21,” Stephanie Chan of the analytics site Sensor Tower told The Wrap. “We estimate that Truth Social has so far reached approximately 1.2 million installs since its launch.”

...

Trump has been so perturbed by the stumbling rollout that he was heard asking, “What the ***** is going on?” on the phone, The Daily Beast reported.

To poke at one of Fox News' recent bones...

Laura Ingraham Advocates Government Punishing Corporations They Disagree With

Quote:
Ingraham begins this harangue by threatening to "cancel" Disney with a boycott that she mistakenly thinks millions of Americans will embrace. Let's just aside the fact that such actions are often criticized by the right. They are nothing if not hypocritical. In fact. Donald Trump is the undisputed King of Cancel Culture.

What makes this tirade even more repugnant is Ingraham proposing that government abuse its power to punish corporations that refuse to fall in line with their partisan goals. She is pushing an oppressive authoritarian agenda. And she isn't the least bit subtle about it. In a country where Ingraham's Republican confederates are in charge, private businesses will be forced to subjugate themselves to the state or suffer the consequences.

Ingraham doesn't say what constitutional means she would employ to challenge a company's copyrights and trademarks. Probably because there aren't any. And while antitrust laws can provide a valid protection of consumer rights. Ingraham is explicit that she wouldn't be pursuing them on behalf of consumers, but rather only "when Republicans get back into power."

Ingraham is not alone on Fox News fronting for fascism, and making Disney the scapegoat for their despotic dystopia. It's a network wide initiative. Media Matter has documented that just within the past week, "Fox has been laser-focused on the story, mentioning 'Disney' over 350 times this week, and dedicating over 3 hours of coverage, and at least 53 segments, to it."

By contrast, stories such as Trump asking Putin for dirt on Hunter Biden, and Madison Cawthorn's tales of GOP cocaine fueled orgies, and Supreme Court Justices Clarence Thomas' wife plotting with Trump's chief of staff to stage a coup, received little or no coverage on Fox News. Meanwhile, Fox is busy attacking Disney - yes, Disney! - as child pornographers upon whom the government must stomp its fascist boot. That must be part of their "MAGA movement to Make America Goofy Again."
For all that I am greatly in favor of having the influence of corporations limited, I absolutely do not support this kind of reasoning and impetus to do so. The influence of corporations certainly should be limited so that consumers cannot be profiteered off so easily, so that effective monopolies are not running the shows, so that they do not have undue sway in decision-making, and the like. This, though, has nothing to do with the good of the people, making society healthier and more stable, or making the future better. This is just naked authoritarian power trip stuff.

From that threatening rant -

Quote:
Ingraham: When Republicans get back into power, Apple and Disney have to understand one thing: Everything will be on the table, your copyright/trademark protection, your special status in certain states, and even your corporate structure itself…

In the lead up to the 2016 Republican primaries, she repeatedly said that the GOP would face a revolt from "real Republicans" if they nominated "another establishment Republican" as the candidate. She's always supported the more extreme elements of the party.

Newest thing is for right wingers to call everyone that is opposed to anti-LGBT legislation, or really anyone at all they don't like, a "groomer", aka a pedophile.

A thinly veiled call for violence against their political enemies.

She also thinks AOC should debate her, for some odd reason. I'm not sure why she thinks a sitting member of Congress should waste her time with every whackjob, but she lives in her own reality.

Two points. First, I think that it's not actually a newest thing so much as just getting more play this time around. Second, a "groomer" is a significant step worse than just a pedophile. Being a pedophile doesn't actually imply acting on said pedophilia. Being a groomer, on the other hand, involves actively working to train the children to serve pedophiles' desires. That's pretty much the most objectionable and outrage-worthy version. At present, it also happens to play into Q BS, incidentally, which means stochastic terrorism potential that needs to be guarded against by those accused.

Publicity, pure and simple.

Btw, AOC would wipe the floor with her, rinse her out in a slop bucket, and pour her out into the gutter where she belongs.

Great video. I love the way Lindell accepts the manila envelope without question. Then the light bulb goes on:
Quote:
What just happened?
On Twitter, in the replies, several people try to allege Lindell wasn't legally served, that the process server has to inform Lindell or it doesn't count. Then it's pointed out the process server tells Lindell, audible on the video, "They're court documents."

The sad thing is, all the fools who got involved in trump schemes, some will wind up paying a high price. Lindell is a case in point. He's got conclusive proof the election was rigged? It's not always going to be 2021. The calendar moves on, times change, people change. What seemed hilarious in 2020 or 2021 may seem very ugly in 2022 or 2023.

Process servers have to be very slick because people are slick in evading process of service.

This is two kinds of typical human reflex being used to facilitate the exchange.

First, a person will generally accept an item being handed to them in a casual manner, merely if to prevent the near certainty of it falling to the ground when the other person releases it. Kudos to the server for really committing to their camouflage, also.

Then, the natural spike of curiosity seconds later as the deliverer walks away without a word. Now the recipient's full attention is on them and the declaration is made in a way that cannot be dismissed as "I didn't hear what they said."

Wow! Oh wow!

Now Trump is trying to distance himself from the January 6 riot while also saying that he wanted to join the January 6 march.

Trump is also saying that he was not responsible for what happened on January 6 and that he hated seeing the destruction. Trump also went on to say that he did not destroy any records and that he did not use any non-official phones on January 6.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-reg...133228218.html

Trump Regrets Not Marching To Capitol On Jan. 6, Blames Pelosi For Violence

Former President Donald Trump said he wished he could have joined his supporters in marching on the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

“Secret Service said I couldn’t go,” Trump told The Washington Post during an interview at his Mar-a-Lago club. “I would have gone there in a minute.”

...

“I thought it was a shame, and I kept asking why isn’t she doing something about it?” Trump said. “Why isn’t Nancy Pelosi doing something about it? And the mayor of D.C. also. The mayor of D.C. and Nancy Pelosi are in charge.”

“I hated seeing it. And I said, ‘It’s got to be taken care of,’ and I assumed they were taking care of it,” he added.

...

The former president said he didn’t “remember getting very many” phone calls during the seven-hour period missing from White House phone records for Jan. 6. He said he spoke to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, Rep. Jim Jordan and others, but maintained he did not destroy any records or use other phones.

...

A thinly veiled call for violence against their political enemies.
Anti-trans activists are increasingly resorting to calling gay men "groomers", because the anti-trans panic is leading to a general anti-LGBTQ backlash, including back to portraying gay men as paedophiles.

The GOP truly does want to take the country back to the accepted bigotry and racism of the pre-civil rights era.

The anti-LGBTQ sentiment among conservatives never went anywhere. They just feel emboldened again to legislate it because they have a 6-3 majority on the Supreme Court.

Just like bigotry and hatred in general were always baked in to conservatism. It was always there, simmering below the surface, and then Trump made it okay for them to be open about it.

To poke at this subject a bit more somewhat arbitrarily... Some Tennessee Republicans decided to try to create a new form of marriage that happens to be limited to only being for a man and a woman, with the very poorly hidden intent to have it replace the current marriage rules. Of particular note, there was no age restriction in these replacement rules. So out with gay marriage, back in with child marriage. After significant outcry, an amendment was just added to deal with that, but that brings us back to a simple question. In reality, who are the groomers in the US? Certainly, the GOP harbors the main forces in opposition to laws to stop child marriage, though there are some Democrats, too, much as the reasoning frequently differs there. The partisan divide in actual practice of child marriage isn't uniform either, of course, but seems to be more culturally based. Moving onto pedophilia, itself, then. At last check, straight men and gay men were roughly equally likely to be pedophiles, which also means that there's a heck of a lot more straight pedophiles. Going a bit further, there's also this - Do Gay Men Have More Sexual Interest in Children Than Straight Men Do?
We have solid proof, based on penile blood flow, that it's actually heterosexual men who show greater sexual attraction to underage kids.

All things considered, I'm largely inclined to treat the gay "groomer" issue as fundamentally being a mix of projection, cynical emotional trigger to get people to overlook how evil and harmful what they're pushing actually is, and homophobia, rather than any one of those in particular.

Agreed.

I said several posts ago that all they had to do was add a minimum age to the bill to fix the 'problem'.

Of course, they never gave it up. Look at the efforts now by some even to reverse the Supreme Court decision on allowing birth control!
