Looks like Liz Truss is attempting a comeback by attempting to cast Sunak as a TINO.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-64523277

I suppose she's right. Most of his cruelty is because he doesn't care about the little people and isn't necessarily deliberate.

He's a man who has no clue how the world works for most people and blithely assumes that if his wealthy friends are doing okay everything is fine.

Liz Truss claims the omnishambles wasn't her fault and her policies were sound.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-64527252

This wouldn't be worrying, just a failed politician whining except that it's in a major newspaper and so presumably these failed policies will continue to be promoted.

She also claims that she was hampered by a left wing establishment - a deep state if you will. If she considers the establishment to be left wing that's a clear indication of what a right wing nutjob she is iMO.

Very Trumpist rhetoric.

She should know, most of her cruelty stems from the same source.

Liz Truss: too stupid to not critcise others for traits she displays even worse.

Truss has/is the subject of an article in the Torygraph today (haven't seen the actual article so it could be either), the accompanying photo is interesting, she's posing next to a picture that seems to be Che Guevara's face on Napoleon's body, so I guess she's planning her come back on a wave of anti-EU lies and propaganda.

ETA: Someone's tracked down the original portrait & it's Nelson not Napoleon, so "The Left Are Stealing Our History" Culture War Bollox rater than EU.

In Johnson terms that’s almost the gospel truth, that any have full planning permission is a surprise to me!

Given that only eight of them were actual new hospitals and most of the rest were refurbishments already sanctioned, I'm surprised they needed ten planning applications.

Given this government's record of competence & lawfulness I'm amazed any of them thought/bothered with little things like planning.

Truss still can't face up to how wrong she was and continues to tell lies about her visit to 10 Downing Street - https://www.theguardian.com/politics...omy-misleading

What is this "mandate" she writes about? She didn't have a "mandate" and has certainly never done anything worthy of anything close to respect.

It really is a good thing that Brenda's death stopped Truss from trying to do anything else: there were enough screw ups if the couple of weeks she did have to "do" anything.

Truss saw Matt Hancock make a reasonable attempt at rehabilitating his image, finishing 3rd in "I'm a celebrity..." and rewriting history in his memoire and thought, well if he can do it....

Hang on a moment - you mean these pessimistic experts didn't give her advice, why I can't believe that given her love of experts, they must have been hiding from her.

I'm cheering her on.

The more she draws attention to her mandate and how it was a tiny fraction of the country that had a say and that one cannot trust the Tory party to not chose a deranged PM midway through a Parliament the better.

You use the "T" word in the context of Truss: do we have any evidence that this is actually possible?

Good point.

Heard some of her interview with Balls and Nelson of The Spectator on PM just now, in which she continued to come across as somewhere between deranged and unhinged, definitely somewhat Dagenham, if not outright Upminster.

If there was ever any doubt of the Conservatives' intention to follow the Republican Party down the right wing, conspiracy theorist, white supremacist rabbit hole.

The new Conservative deputy chairman is expressing views which IMO would be very popular among the members, but where the leadership don't want it said out loud:

Quote:
The new deputy chairman of the Conservative Party, Lee Anderson, has said he would support the return of the death penalty.

In an interview with the Spectator before he was appointed to the role, he argued "nobody has ever committed a crime after being executed".

The Tory Party said his position was not the view of the government.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-64580487

IMO the Tory leadership are happy with these views being expressed, they allow both sides to be played against each other.

I'd remind Lee Anderson that nobody has gone on to live a full life after being wrongfully convicted and executed.

No-one ever dodged tax or misused public funds after being executed either.

IMO the Tory leadership are happy with these views being expressed, they allow both sides to be played against each other.

I'd remind Lee Anderson that nobody has gone on to live a full life after being wrongfully convicted and executed.
It is quite strange when you have to consider both the current and the previous but one PMs are criminals that he wants to associate with them.

After reading Mr Anderson's words I move that being a tory party politician should become the capital crime. See how long he's in favour of the death penalty then.
