As I watch the Pandemic spread its ugly face all across the world, including the tremendous damage it has done to the USA, I become more and more angry at China. People can see it, and I can feel it!

Today’s SCOTUS ruling is a historic win for families who want SCHOOL CHOICE NOW! #SchoolChoice is a civil rights issue, and no parent should have to send their child to a failing school. I will continue to fight for School Choice and will always defend Religious Freedom!

I wonder who actually wrote this one. It's too articulate. Maybe Stephen Miller? I'm guessing because of the racist tone of it.

And the rest of the world looks at the spread across the USA and says WTF, it looks like they don't know what they're doing. Who's in charge anyway?

No, it's a win for De Vos's business interests only.

Let's see what they write when that "school choice" () decision defending religious freedom ends up getting government money sent to private Muslim schools.

That's really gonna go over swell in Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, etc..

TRump pretending that the Covid pandemic does not exist is something I would not have beleived a POTUS was capable of .
Fact is we are losing, and soon Corona virus will be calling the shots.

No, C19 is just not that lethal (overall). But the next one easily could be. Will we learn the right lessons from this one? Not during this administration I suspect.

That's the myth people who think only 70 & 80 yr olds are dying believes.

As coronavirus spreads to people under 40, it's making them sicker — and for longer — than once thought

Strokes, other blood clotting disorders, the ravages it does to your body to be on a ventilator for a month even if you do survive, the deaths of people who would normally have gone to the hospital but put it off over fear of C19, permanent lung damage, ... and more.

Is it worth poking at a bit of history? The "school choice" push really took off in Virginia... in response to the ruling that they were required to desegregate their schools - as a workaround means to keep school segregation alive and well. Also, while there certainly are good charter schools, charter schools are be disturbingly likely to be fraudulent. To poke just a little at that...

New Report: Charter Fraud And Waste Worse Than We Thought

Quote:
Last March, the Network for Public Education released a report showing that the federal government has lost a billion dollars to charter school waste and fraud. But the organization had not stopped sifting through the data. Their follow-up report, “Still Asleep At The Wheel: How the Federal Charter Schools Program Results in as Pileup of Fraud ands Waste,” reveals that the situation is even worse than shown in the first report, while laying out more state by state details. Particularly striking—the vast amount of money that has been wasted on ghost schools that never served.

Has the overall lethality estimate been raised substantially, or are you just being argumentative?
I don't and never have considered this thing a joke, I just posited that I can imagine a future pandemic with a seriously higher lethality and the easy transmissability of C19... and then we really will be dancing to its tune.
Much of the world really screwed the pooch on this back in February, and we in the US are a shining example of that.
It's gonna hurt, and keep on hurting for another 8-12 months (I think, economicly much longer of course).
But... this too shall pass.

Unless you want to jump on PartSkeptics' "this is God's population reduction apocalypse" bandwagon.

She gets fired by @CNN for giving Crooked Hillary the debate questions, and gets hired by @FoxNews. Where are you Roger Ailes?

At the request of many great Americans who live in the Suburbs, and others, I am studying the AFFH housing regulation that is having a devastating impact on these once thriving Suburban areas. Corrupt Joe Biden wants to make them MUCH WORSE. Not fair to homeowners, I may END!

I think that what Skeptic Ginger was pointing out was, just because you haven't been killed by Coronavirus, it doesn't mean that you're not going to suffer long-term, possibly life-limiting consequences.

It's going to take a long time to build up an accurate picture, not least because it's going to take years until the long-term consequences can be known, but initial indications seem to show that even if "only" 0.5%-1.0% of people die, many times that number are likely to experience serious long-term health issues

But... this too shall pass.
It depends on whether an effective vaccine can be found and whether a global inoculation programme can be put in place. Even in a country as rich and organised as the US, it could take a couple of years to inoculate enough people to achieve herd immunity - if enough people comply with inoculation requests and don't instead view it as a government plot.

If there isn't an effective vaccine then it could take years to achieve herd immunity. We're 6 months into the pandemic in most developed countries and infection rates are in the mid-single digits. If the current rate of infection is maintained then it'll be 5-10 years until herd immunity is achieved. With effective social distancing it'll take even longer.

The again, there's no guarantee that catching Coronavirus confers long-term immunity so herd immunity may be a pipe-dream.

Gutless piece of puke:

Bernstein's sources say Trump reserved his most vicious attacks for female leaders. He reportedly denigrated May and Angela Merkel, the German chancellor, but was cordial - even reverential - to strongman leaders such Vladimir Putin of Russia and Turkey's Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

We are *******. We have a president who unwaveringly believes that he is smarter than science. There’s no way he is going to get inoculated. And then we will have between 15 and 30% of Americans refusing inoculation because the president is afraid of it.

It's amazing how much bigotry he can pack into one tweet.

Smear against native Americans? Check.
Insult a woman? Check.
Support for anti-black Confederate soldiers? Check.

It's likes trifecta of bigotry.

Something should put together a game of trump bingo... Where each square represents a form of racism/sexism.

It will be interesting to see if 1) trump follows through, and 2) whether the GOP goes along or give a veto-proof majority support. After all, they must realize that the whole "Republicans support our troops' myth is at risk... Last thing they need is to see a republican vote against military funding, all in favor of a cause that most voters disagree with.

ETA: is it just me or is there something wrong with the grammar or wording of that text? I mean, I get the meaning... Bigotry is more important than national defence... But the post starts wandering and never completes its argument properly. Such a genius... Can't even stay focused for the length of one tweet.

In a sane world this would damage his status within the party and among the electorate. The sad truth is that, if anything, it will enhance his status within the GOP and the wider electorate either don't care or are implacably opposed to him.
