I would be a critic of this if social media were not in the business of curating content but that is what they do: they curate content. They are not an ISP, a web forum, or an email server that is content-neutral, they are active curators and as such, need to take responsibility for the content that they choose to curate.
I read it was the employees of Twitter that made this possible. Now there is great pressure on Amazon, from both internal and external, to not provide hosting services to Parlor. Good. Parlor of course, is doomed from the start. What good is it to be a NAZI if there is nobody out there to trigger?

Laura Loomer notably cannot even get takeout from Uber Eats because she's managed to get herself banned from pretty much every mainstream outlet. Truly impressive commitment to being vile.

r/homeimprovement is hands down the most useful resources for problem solving house issues on the web.

A lot of specialized subreddits are very unique, useful, friendly places

Irony is that Trump still has a huge megaphone..he is POTUS and can command a huge audience by just having a press conference of making an address to the nation...but he has no idea how to effecitvely do that. He is so adicted to twitter that he has sort of forgotten how to use any other means of mass communication effectively.

The good thing about reddit though is there are sub-reddits that are great and full of interesting people... r/spacex for example - is strictly moderated; moon hoaxers, flat earthers, space deniers get banned in minutes and their posts removed.

So what rules would he violate here given his behaviour elsewhere? His call for violence is one. He would be able to say the election was unfair or other problems with it without breaching the rules. Though if he does decide to go to a forum I think there would be better forums for him than this one. Maybe a CT one?

I would agree whatever forum he does go to it would attract many followers.

Of course, they are not "speech gatekeepers", nor do they pretend or attempt to be. On r/spacex we've had several engineers from SpaceX in question and answer sessions, including Hans Koenigsmann, Kate Tice, Lauren Lyons, and Elon himself, as well as Gwynne Shotwell and principal integration engineer John Insprucker, NASA's Jim Bridenstine and astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley.

They are private, for-profit companies, protecting their own interests and those of their shareholders and advertisers - that is something they are perfectly entitled to do. They are also exercising their free speech rights not to be associated with purveyors of lies and misinformation. My only concern with the banning of Trump is that it is too little, too late. Trump should have been banned from these platforms right about the time he started with the birther conspiracy. As for the claims that Trump is being muzzled by big tech, that is just a big fat lie. Trump is the president (at least for the next few days) - he has his own bully pulpit, he can call a press conference and tell anyone in the world anything he wants.
