That's already happened. The Democrats tried to use it as a means of last resort and the Republicans treated it as a political tool. Just one more instance where a formerly serious rule turned out to be a gentleman's agreement.

Actually it probably happened during the Clinton years. You don't use a "means of last resort" to prosecute a white lie about a personal affair.

True most all Presidents have had one member of Congress at least scribble "Hey let's impeach this guy" on a notepad, but I meant more in the sense of the overall party as a group doing it.

As someone just posted on Twitter, these Biden nominations are deliciously boring.

very qualified, but also very close to Biden, personally.
So are his deputies going to be Winken and Nod?

No problem.

Janet Yellen for Treasury, will be the first woman ever to hold that office.

ETA: according to press reports, not confirmed by Biden's office.

CNN is reported the same, citing "sources."

Yes, petty, but I would find it funny. Think of it: Biden nominates Clinton, GOP objects in the strongest way possible, Biden says "OK, here's an alternative", but what the GOP doesn't know is that the alternative was the real choice all along. 4D chess!

It sucks that one person can have so much power to obstruct.

The Biden/Harris team has released a code of ethical conduct for the transition that almost seems like a point-for-point upbraiding of the Trump administration's ethical lapses.

Oh Biden won't get a single nomination approved and have to do interim appointments which suddenly will become a big deal again, and the discussion will go immediately to "But Trump had interim appointees!" and McConnell will continue to have an orgasm every time a Liberal calls him a hypocrite.

Yes, it looked like he had a meeting with a certain fraternal organization whilst playing the piano and he gave them an answer that they didn't like.

But that power fades when compared to the Senate Majority Leader and Speaker of the House. Those two people basically can push through or completely stall the entire work of Congress. How we got ourselves into that position is beyond me.

Individual Congressmen have to grow a spine and stand up to their so-called leaders' ******** from time to time.

The few "swing Senators" are essentially held hostage by their own party.

Indeed.

And if someone actually wants to complain about a boring presidency, let me tell you that we were warned by the highest authority:
"Trump tells a rally in Pennsylvania that politics will be boring if Joe Biden is elected President"
