Not in the US. The vast majority of farmers in the 1970's had tractors, rural electricity, and trucking, and pretty much any other mechanization needed for efficiency.
In fact agriculture became far less efficient by any rational measure. Local farms and local infrastructure took the biggest hit from the change of policies. Our food is not energy efficient, it is not land efficient, it is not water efficient. The local infrastructure was decimated and extreme inefficiencies like the 2000 mile tomato was born.

All that happened is farms got bigger. Bigger does not mean efficient. Nor does it provide employment for economically depressed rural areas. Quite the opposite. It caused them to happen.
