Insane lies about what I and jonesdave116 have posted. We have never said electric field are powered by electric currents. Electric currents produce magnetic fields from the moving charges. Charges have electric fields because they are charges ! Thus an electric current also has an electric field from its charges. There is no "power".

How can you connect any of this to giant lightning bolts blasting solid rock out of the Earth's surface, to pick just one example?

How does this enable you to quantify estimates of the variability of the Sun due to variations in the inter-galactic Birkeland currant that powers the Sun (per SAFIRE)?

Yes they can, if you bother to read the literature and understand it. You haven't, and can't. Simple. At high outgassing comets, like Halley, it is most likely to be ion-neutral friction. At a lower production rate comet like 67P, it appears more likely to be electron-neutral friction. Not rocket science, but an ongoing area of interesting study. None of which helps your failed woo. You need the solar wind impacting the surface. It ain't, as we knew since the mid-80s. You need electric woo happening on the nucleus. It ain't. As the very existence of the DC proves. Not our fault that you were unaware of these basic facts of cometary plasma interactions, which have been around in the literature since the mid-80s. Should have read said literature, before spamming your crap all over the interweb a decade and a half ago. Would have saved you much embarrassment.

At least this time he can understand simple English but as usual bot the physics ! All gases have collisions. Collisions by themselves do not cause friction. A plasma is a partially ionized gas. Collisions between ions/or elections and neutrals does cause friction as in jonesdave116's post.

you have not even commented on why "electric currents creating electric fields" might be a dubious claim, and why, if that is your understanding of plasma physics, any discussion is even worthwhile.

So the nested field aligned currents that flow up and down the tail that may extend to the heliopause , close thru the coma, sometimes suddenly, increasing the main form of ionising neutrals, electron impact ionisation and giving some electrons enough energy to become suprathermal.

The dust is also charged and responds to the surface electric fields concentrated and focused along light/shadowed areas and are coupled to these nested and over draped electric fields in the coma and tail.

This along with the deflection and charge seperation of the solar plasma also contributing to the complex electric and magnetic field environment at a comet.

This ultimately can ONLY be achieved by sublimating ice, sintered hard as rock some distance below a very well insulated dusty rind.

You forgot the highly negatively charged dust. Dust is how you got shed loads of “ice” at Tempel 1 along with the classic cometary science howler, radial expansion of the sublimation products and using this to come up with an obvious mostly icy comet.

therefore any ambipolar fields brought into existence due to the interactions of the ions and electrons there from. very easily explained by the rock it self being of a different charge or potential to the surrounding plasma, now separated as well. This forms the standard garden variety plasma sheath around the nucleus. This would exclude any solar wind (foreign plasma) from the nucleus and concentrate the charge difference in a very thin non uniform layer away form the nucleus.
