The US citizen who was wrongfully detained claims to have lost 26 lbs during his 23 day detention at a CBP holding facility. That's 7.9 lbs per week and almost certainly starvation. He also unable to shower during the entire stay, being held in crowded, unsanitary conditions.

I could easily see death at such a camp being dismissed as unrelated illness by officials who are content to neglect their captives.

Well they have had deaths from the flu and refuse to vaccinate the kids. Also they are giving up on those BS court orders

"The Trump administration has announced it is ending a federal court agreement that limits how long migrant families with children can be detained.

Acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan outlined the new policy Wednesday, which replaces the Flores Settlement agreement. That's been a longtime target of immigration hardliners in the Trump administration, who contend the settlement has acted as a lure to families in Central America."

So now we have indefinite detention with starvation, no hygiene or health care. Really what more is needed to call these concentration camps?

Trump administration to allow longer detention of migrant families

CNN: https://www.cnn.com/2019/08/21/polit...res/index.html

Quote:
(CNN) - The Trump administration on Wednesday announced plans that could hold undocumented families detained together indefinitely, replacing the agreement that set a 20-day limit for holding children.

The rule unveiled by acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan is part of the administration's aggressive effort to revamp immigration laws as the number of families and unaccompanied minors crossing the US-Mexico border has increased.

In recent months, the administration has proposed rules that could make it more difficult for immigrants to get green cards, worked to end temporary protected status for migrants from certain countries and limit avenues to declare asylum.

With the Trump admin. trying to change the rules so that they can detain people indefinitely, I wonder how long before they try to jail political enemies...

That's the thing about concentration camps. If you don't stop them early on, eventually they're for you.

He wants to detain immigrants indefinitely, and he wants to ensure they all get the flu.
Can we call them concentration camps now?

That's the thing about using the Holocaust as a measuring stick, it's not really useful. Death camps are the most extreme, but there is plenty of room for injustice and atrocity that is well short of deliberately gassing civilians.

By comparison, Japanese internees were treated pretty well. That doesn't matter, because these interment camps are still a massive stain on the soul of this country. Mass imprisonment is abhorrent, even if you manage to keep the prisoners alive and healthy (which the US seems to be failing at regularly at the border).
