I think they're just normally able to pay someone to do it for them aren't they? Also, I believe Trump has a plan for if he has to travel overseas for any length of time: |

I've never paid attention to the event, but this is embarrassing. Or looks like it's going to be, come Monday. The numbers floating around are staggering. No wonder it's been called the most important event on the WH's annual social calendar. I guess they give away those wooden eggs... but damn, 40,000 of them (normally... looks like only 20k this year). Do they really cycle 40,000 people through the WH and grounds in a single day? eta: CNN just had a segment with a Mrs. Bates who, with a staff of 7 or 8 and "countless volunteers".. ran all eight of the events for Clinton. Says they had over 30k every year and Obama's last year was 37k. The numbers of kids seems to run to around 4,000, perhaps more. That number may have been in reference to the invitations, don't recall where I heard it yesterday... now I wonder just how many kids. But that's when they've had their school invitations and several weeks to plan/organize the field trip. Oops, maybe this year... not so much. There's a photo of Spicey in full Easter Bunny costume for W's last event in 2008. First... very funny Sean and no offence intended. But second... it shows that even lacking East Wing staffing, or seemingly any interest at all from the First Family... they have in their midst someone who knows, remembers and even participated directly in this 138 year old tradition. How the hell could it have actually escaped notice that the event was fast approaching? |

This is not a simple task. As many as 37,000 people -- mostly children -- show up for numerous activities and have to be managed. The first step is running the lottery that distributes the tickets. If this is screwed up it will be seen as a metaphor for the Trump presidency.

He should have turned this into a special guest-appearance episode of "The Apprentice", and let the contestants handle it.

Donnie the believer attended his first church service since the day after the inauguration this morning, at Our Lady of the Pitching Wedge in Palm Beach. It was reported that all of his family who don't work in the West Wing were there. This is a nice way of saying, "except for the Jews", I guess. But in another article, Jared and Ivanka are off skiing in Whistler. Who's running things? Will they get back to Washington and find that Spicer, Flynn and Bannon have handed the keys to the place to Rebekah Mercer and they've all locked themselves in and refuse to leave?
And the crackerjack Trump team has booked The Martin Family Circus to play the East Egg Rolling. Who? I dunno, either. They opened for the Oak Ridge Boys sometime last year. What's the chance that some big city slicker on the crackerjack Trump team thinks it's actually a circus? Or maybe that horrible comic strip, The Family Circus, come to life. Evidently the Martins are driving up in their family RV and their biggest concern is where to park it. No one's booked them a hotel. I wonder if anyone at the White House has any contacts with a local hotel, or do they allow riffraff in Trump Mansions? |

I was wondering what they'd do for the entertainment... figured our various service branches' bands were due for another assignment (it's a Trump full employment strategy I believe).
I looked up the Martins. Got as far as that daddy won a Grammy and had a warning pop-up from Wilford Brimley. Played it safe and closed the tab |

It looks like the official stance is that they were going for quality, not quantity.
