Yes, you are. But no dog is as cute as my kitties. Or any kitties, for that matter.

Disclaimer: The uploaded photo is the first one I came across of one of my kitties. Probably nearly all other photos of her or of my other kitty or any of my previous kitties are even cuter. And certainly cuter than your dog.

I never really understood Trump's popularity.

To me, even back in the 1980s, when he first entered my consciousness, he always seemed like the very definition of a rich, arrogant jerk. Not the well-mannered, genteel sort of rich, but a brash, arrogant, in-your-face sort who unapologetically flaunted his wealth and high opinion of himself, with no pretense of humility, in a way that I never found at all endearing. And it always seemed apparent that Trump believed that his wealth was evidence of his superiority.

But I guess those same qualities that I find so unappealing are attractive to others?

He appeals to people who dream of being rich arrogant jerks, without, of course, doing any work or learning anything.

I think I knew him by name before The Apprentice was first broadcast here, but I knew nothing about him. He ticked off all the nouveau riche chlichés, so I assumed he was a self-made man who had just assumed that persona for the show. But no, he's a WYSIWYG silver spoon baby.

Yhe one thing we have learned in this mess is to never underestimate the appeal of racism to the American public.

The gas, maybe. But while I can ordinarily find snoring infuriating, but our gordon setter's snores was the most calming and cozy sound imaginable.

Apparently.

I think he first came into my consciousness when Bill the Cat suffered some sort of problem and believed he was Donald Trump in the Bloom County comic strip.

I miss comic strips.

I probably first learned of Trump when he was owner of the New Jersey Generals and led the lawsuit against the NFL which caused the demise of the USFL.

After which he went into the casino business, which also ended badly.

I remember him from the Studio 54 days. Perfect spot for a slimeball.

Note: Studio 54 was a disco in Manhattan from 1978-1980.

Reverse that. Donald Trump was hit by an anchor from his yacht, destroying his body. His brain was transplanted into the body of Bill the Cat. "Trump" ended up buying the comic and running it into the ground, IIRC.

Got it. I couldn't remember actually how Bill ended up playing the Trump part.

But I remember Bill's new litter box, the Trump Dump.

I just remember the tag line, "Look at the quality!" as Trump was pointing at yet another tasteless monstrosity.

That is what has been making my head explode for the last four years.
He has always been the exact transparent, dishonest, slimy jerk that he has been as POTUS. It has never not been entirely obvious that this is what he is.

How!?, how!?, how!? did we wind up saddled with him?

The only answer I could find is that his supporters cared more about making my head explode, than about making the Nation explode.

I have a book of Bloom County cartoons from back in the 80s (Bloom County: Classics of Western Literature). It has many of the cartons from the "Trump brain transplanted into Bill the Cat" storyline.

And yes, Trump did run the comic into the ground. All the cast was "fired|, and the comic sort of ended soon after. (The author started writing the comic "outland" soon after.)

I have to say, it is almost surreal going back and reading those comics. "Trump" is portrayed as extremely boorish (and not too bright). And this was going back to his days of Ivanka, before he produced the hellspawn and entered politics.

I am sure there are many others.
As it turns out the 'deplorables' will storm congress to overturn the results of a free and fair election to get him four more years. Remember how everyone objecting to Trump was being 'melodramatic' and that 'Trump can't do that much damage in four years anyway'?

Today's events make me even more grateful Trump lost the election. I can't imagine what would've happened had he gotten four more years.
