Just because the email says it originated from an address does not mean it did. There is an example of a full email (smtp) header here link
You can see in the header shown there a lot of entries like "Received: by 10.141.116.17". If any of those is insecure someone can insert an email with faked headers including faked origin id. It's a long-standing problem with SMTP.
