That stupid, idiotic, greedy, lying, POS Trump finally got around to suing Hillary Clinton for saying that the 2016 Trump Campaign was being supported by Russia.

Which is weird even for Trump to say, since it is clearly evident that the 2016 Trump Campaign was supported by Russia.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/donald-tr...173916750.html

Donald Trump sues Hillary Clinton, others over 2016 Russian collusion allegations

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -Donald Trump on Thursday sued his rival in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, Hillary Clinton, and several other Democrats, alleging that they tried to rig that election by tying his campaign to Russia.

...

A 966-page report issued by a Republican-led U.S. Senate committee in 2020 concluded that Russia used Republican political operative Paul Manafort and the WikiLeaks website to try to help Trump win the 2016 election.

...

Mueller said in his report that "the Russian government perceived it would benefit from a Trump presidency and worked to secure that outcome, and that the campaign expected it would benefit electorally from information stolen and released through Russian efforts.”

Let's have some Discovery!

Seriously, this is such a playground effort by Trump to disavow his decades of Putin worship and allegiance.

Maybe it would be better if it doesn't. Clinton could depose Trump and everybody who worked for him, including his kids, under oath, and demand all relevant records. I hope the judge is a die-hard Trumper.

This is from last month, but probably really shouldn't be ignored.

Greg Abbot has officially directed Family and Protective Services to begin investigating all trans children in Texas and prosecuting their parents as child abusers.

He has also instructed all teachers, doctors, and caregivers to begin reporting any trans students they see.

This is a bit of a tangential link for a thread about the post-Trump era, but... there's some value in recognizing more about how we got here.

That's obsessive to the extreme.

It seems to be almost a given that preachers who rail against drugs get caught wired to the max; against homosexuality get caught with rent boys; against adultery get caught with multiple affairs; and against taxation for religion get caught in illegal tax-avoidance schemes.

So this could possibly be a desperate attempts by Abbott to hide his own proclivities towards gender-fluidity. Wonder if he is like the FBI's Hoover - looks a fright in a frock. (Yes, I know cross-dressing isn't necessarily transgender; just making a funny point.)

“Whatever is not forbidden is compulsory.”
They're convinced that everyone is really just as authoritarian as they are, so if people are allowed to undergo gender reassignment, then soon everyone will be forced to undergo gender reassignment. Or have a same-sex marriage, or whatever they're railing against at the moment.

Ginni Thomas doing good work shooting down the dumb stereotype that only powerless uneducated rubes get majorly pilled.
https://twitter.com/travis_view/stat...Coma-6rOopAAAA

It might be comforting to dismiss right wing conspiracism as the purview of powerless nobodies, but that simply ain't so.

Crank theories about cabals of pedophiles or stolen elections penetrate all strata of the right wing political community. Conspiracy theories and fantastical views play an important role in fascist movements.

ETA: Ginni isn't your average dogwhistling right winger, she's pilled to the gills:

Quote:
Here are some of the QAnon references Ginni Thomas was making. This idea of watermarked ballots being used to catch Democratic voter fraud is big in QAnon, but I'm especially interested in her idea of military "white hats" (in other words, good guys). That's a key QAnon phrase.

Ginni Thomas sent Meadows a Steve Pieczenik video about a "QFS" system. QFS is the "Quantum Financial System," an idea of a mythical money system that will bring on a sort of right-wing utopia. Pieczenik is a regular InfoWars guest.

Finally, Ginni Thomas ref's the idea of Dem elites being imprisoned in Guantanamo Bay — a huge QAnon tell! Interestingly, the text she's pulling from, like "QFS", is huge on Iraqi dinar forums, raising the possibility that she's an Iraqi dinar fan!

Many of these idiots are as ignorant of transgenders as they are ignorant about homosexuality being a 'choice'.

Take Ted Cruz's questions in the Jackson hearing:
Cruz (paraphrased): Can I decide to be Asian?
Can I decide to be female?

Just look at the claims some of them have made that transgender women are either gay men trying to trick straight men into having sex with them, or straight men trying to gain covert access to women's locker rooms, restrooms, and dressing rooms for purposes of sexual assault. (Transgender men apparently don't exist in their world.)

I've said it before and I'll say it again: a person can be educated and IQ intelligent yet still be into irrational conspiracist thinking. Why? Because our emotional and psychological 'health' play an extremely important part in how we see things.
Virginia Thomas' emails reveal a woman consumed with fear and irrational conspiracist thinking. Consider the following:

Quote:
In the Nov. 5 message to Meadows, Thomas went on to quote a passage that had circulated on right-wing websites: “Biden crime family & ballot fraud co-conspirators (elected officials, bureaucrats, social media censorship mongers, fake stream media reporters, etc) are being arrested & detained for ballot fraud right now & over coming days, & will be living in barges off GITMO to face military tribunals for sedition.”
Quote:
Among Thomas’s stated goals in the messages was for lawyer Sidney Powell, who promoted incendiary and unsupported claims about the election, to be “the lead and the face” of Trump’s legal team.
Quote:
“Watermarked ballots in over 12 states have been part of a huge Trump & military white hat sting operation in 12 key battleground states,” she wrote.

During that period, supporters of the QAnon extremist ideology embraced a false theory that Trump had watermarked mail-in ballots so he could track potential fraud. “Watch the water” was a refrain in QAnon circles at the time.
Quote:
Thomas added in the message that Meadows should “Listen to Rush. Mark Steyn, Bongino, Cleta” — appearing to refer to conservative commentators Rush Limbaugh, Mark Steyn and Dan Bongino, as well as lawyer Cleta Mitchell, who was involved in Trump’s push to claim victory in Georgia despite Biden’s certified win there.
Quote:
Thomas wrote. “Sounds like Sidney and her team are getting inundated with evidence of fraud. Make a plan. Release the Kraken and save us from the left taking America down.”
Quote:
“The end of Liberty.”
Quote:
“Clarence doesn’t discuss his work with me, and I don’t involve him in my work,” she said in an interview with the Washington Free Beacon, a conservative outlet, for an article published March 14.

To anyone who believes that, I've got a bridge in Brooklyn for sale cheap.

Another Republican member of Congress convicted of a felony:

Quote:
U.S. Rep. Jeff Fortenberry of Nebraska was convicted Thursday on charges that he lied to federal authorities about an illegal $30,000 contribution to his campaign from a foreign billionaire at a 2016 Los Angeles fundraiser.

A federal jury in LA deliberated about two hours before finding the nine-term Republican guilty of concealing information and two counts of making false statements to authorities. Fortenberry was charged after denying to the FBI that he was aware he had received illicit funds from Gilbert Chagoury, a Nigerian billionaire of Lebanese descent.

How many times will these grifters take the Fifth?
Quote:
Former President Donald Trump and two of his sons have agreed to appear for questioning in a years long lawsuit alleging the family participated in a fraudulent marketing scheme.
The former president will appear for his deposition on June 16, and his sons Don Jr. and Eric will be deposed on May 10 and May 12, respectively, according to Friday court filings with the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. Ivanka Trump may also be called in for questioning, but a date has not yet been set.

The class-action lawsuit, filed in 2018, alleges the family used Donald Trump’s former reality TV show The Celebrity Apprentice to urge participants to invest in a telecommunications company while secretly pocketing millions of dollars. Plaintiffs say they were misled, arguing the former president used his reputation as a successful entrepreneur to convince them the investments would be worthwhile.

Ginni Thomas’ Election Fraud Guru Claims He Arrested Pope

Quote:
As Ginni Thomas, a prominent conservative activist and the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, made the case to overturn the election to a top adviser to former President Donald Trump in the days after the 2020 election, she cited several conspiracy theories popular with the president’s most deluded supporters

In her messages, published Thursday by CBS News and the Washington Post, Thomas urged then-White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows to look into the claims of Steve Pieczenik, a little-known conspiracy theorist whose ideas are often too crazy for even Alex Jones.

Thomas appeared to have wholly embraced Pieczenik’s off-the-wall claims in her texts, including the idea that Trump’s election defeat was really a ruse meant to entrap Democratic voter fraudsters.
Quote:
Whatever grip Pieczenik had on reality began to slip decades ago, when he began to appear on InfoWars. Pieczenik became known for claiming that a tragic event, often a mass shooting, was in fact a false flag event or even faked entirely. He’s argued that the 9/11 attacks, the Sandy Hook shooting, and Pearl Harbor were all false flags. Among other claims, Pieczenik insists he once arrested Pope Francis.

His stories were so wild they even became too much for Jones. After he claimed the 2017 Las Vegas mass shooting that killed 60 people was fake, for example, Jones appeared to temporarily block him from appearing on the outlet. All that has given him a reputation as a loose cannon even by the already outré standards of the InfoWars green room.

Right-wing singer's rant during a concert shows just how crazy some of these right-wing nut jobs are. What's just as nuts is his audience cheering him on as he goes full on conspiracy whacko on everything from supporting Putin, to not-so-subtle antisemitism, to anti-vaccine "poison" claims, to anti-Biden 'deep state' conspiracies.

It’s Aaron Lewis, former lead on a numetal band who bizarrely got a hit about yelling at his TV because Confederate statues were being taken down. Todd in the Shadows did a real number on him a year ago.

After this rant Todd tweeted that when Aaron said he loved the red white and blue he must have meant the Russian Federation flag.

Guess what?

We are going back to the 'good old days' where Trump was begging for political help from Putin.

But in this case, however, Trump is now asking Putin for help in smearing Joe Biden.

To wit:

https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/...155858840.html

Trump Is Now Asking Putin to Dig Up Dirt on the Biden Family

Donald Trump famously called on Russia to find Hillary Clinton’s emails ahead of the 2016 election. He’s now calling on Vladimir Putin to dig up dirt on President Biden’s family.

The ask came during an interview with Just the News on Real America’s Voice, with the former president citing a Senate report that found a Russian oligarch once gave $3.5 million to a company he claims was founded by Biden’s son, Hunter. “Why did the mayor of Moscow’s wife give the Bidens, both of them, $3.5 million? That’s a lot of money,” Trump said. “She gave him $3.5 million so I would think Putin would know the answer to that,” Trump said. “I think he should release it. I think we should know that answer.”

...

Trump’s latest call for Putin’s help comes as the Russia authoritarian is bombarding Ukraine in an unprovoked war that has resulted in thousands of deaths. Trump has repeatedly refused to condemn Putin throughout the invasion. Maybe it’s because he still wants his help.

Unsurprisingly, Trump is full of crap:
Quote:
President Donald Trump accused Joe Biden of taking $3.5 million from Russia at the final presidential debate on Thursday, but the accusation is based on unproven allegations of a transaction involving Biden’s son, Hunter, not the Democratic presidential candidate himself.

Trump was referring to a deal discussed in a politically charged report released by Senate Republicans last month (Sept. 2020) into Hunter Biden’s business dealings in Russia and Ukraine.
Quote:
The report, which bases the claim on a “confidential document” which has not been made public, doesn’t accuse Joe Biden of any wrongdoing and does not claim Hunter Biden’s business dealings influenced Obama administration foreign policy.

George Mesires, Hunter Biden’s lawyer, told the Washington Post that Biden was not a “co-founder” of Rosemont Seneca Thornton and had “no interest in it”—and “therefore [the] claim that he was paid $3.5 million is false.”

Hunter Biden co-founded an investment firm called Rosemont Seneca Advisors, but there’s no evidence that it has any relationship with Rosemont Seneca Thornton.

As Trump made this still false statement, he looked like he was playing an accordion.

Have we covered Mississippi Republican Robert Foster yet? Former representative and fortunately failed gubernatorial candidate Foster calls for the execution by firing squad of people "grooming" children to be transsexual. In his initial statement, because he is so stupid he cannot possibly understand what he is saying, he includes in this grooming "encouraging them to believe that they can wear the clothing of the “opposite sex," apparently to utterly stupid to realize that what he's saying is that there should be a state law on clothing, and that parents who let their girls wear pants should be gunned down. He seems sort of to walk that back later, to say that the holy massacre should be limited to people he thinks are actually encouraging or allowing their children in the abomination.

Welcome to Gilead! Of course his idea won't get much traction at least right now, so there's nothing to worry about. Go back to sleep.

In view of all the pessimism I offer one piece of hope:
I think your average Amereican does not like being told what to do, does not like intrusive govenrment and IMHO the GOP will run into this.

Optimist!

Real freedom is not really utilitarian. You find it at the edges, not the middle. Too many people subscribe to the "I have nothing to hide" philosophy of freedom. Just make a law that says everyone must do what you prefer to do anyway, and people will lap it up and call it liberty without even noticing.

So, Trump is asking a dictator he acknowledges to be an enemy of the US for political assistance against the president of the US.

The average American is also very good at blind tribalism and rationalizing ********. The Jordan Klepper segments on "The Daily Show" where he interviews MAGA rockheads who contradict themselves with every sentence illustrate this perfectly.

Ask the question "Why?" and the answer is almost certainly "Blackmail".

I am sure that quite a few people clearly recall Donald Trump calling Putin a "genius", "smart", or otherwise lionizing Putin on at least a few occassions.

And now, in typical weird spin in the Trump universe, Trump is now denying that he called Putin a "genius".

https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-den...214302904.html

Trump denies calling Putin a 'genius'

...

On Wednesday, Trump released a statement in which he parsed the semantics of using the word "genius" when referring to Putin's military strategy.

...

"Unfortunately, and tragically, Putin went too far, acting on the WEAK Foreign Policy of the Biden Administration. The Fake News said I called him a genius during the war. No, I was describing the great negotiating posture he had prior to the unfortunate decision to enter Ukraine and fight. There was nothing 'genius' about that!"

...

Trump's praise of Putin was not an isolated incident, either. As recently as last weekend, for instance, Trump reiterated his view that the Russian autocrat is "smart."

...

"Putin was very nice to me, he said Donald Trump is a genius," Trump said then.

...

Another lunatic rises:
Quote:
“Devil, your foot soldiers are coming out tonight, they’re coming all the way out. We will expel them,” Pastor Greg Locke howled from the stage in a crowded white tent. “You gotta leave, Devil,” he shouted, “you gotta get out!”

Wielding a microphone as he paced the stage, his wife Tai at his side, Locke called out “spirits” of anger, rage, bitterness, lust and envy.

“Spirit of molestation, spirit of abuse, get out right now!” Locke commanded.

“Every spirit of homosexuality, lesbianism, come out, come out,” his wife ordered. “Transgenderism, gender dysphoria, come out.”

“We rebuke it, we rebuke it!” Locke yelled.

The tent slowly took on a spirit of its own. Worshipers began writhing as if in pain, others waved their hands in the air in benediction. “Amens” began to mix with the guttural sound of growling, moaning and praying in tongues.

“If you’ve had the covid-19 shot, I’m telling you you’ve got poison in your veins,” Locke thundered. “We call out the covid-19 vaccine out right now. Keep that demonic spirit out of you right now in the name of Jesus!”

Some fell to the ground, pawing at cedar chips, or retched into silver vomit buckets that had been set at the end of each row of white folding chairs.
......
Locke is an “ambassador” of a movement where he and other pastors around the country appear at rallies and tent revivals preaching Donald Trump’s fraudulent claims that the election was stolen as a new holy war, according to Amanda Tyler, executive director of the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty, an organization dedicated to religious freedom.
