That stupid, idiotic, greedy, lying, POS Trump finally got around to suing Hillary Clinton for saying that the 2016 Trump Campaign was being supported by Russia.
Which is weird even for Trump to say, since it is clearly evident that the 2016 Trump Campaign was supported by Russia. https://www.yahoo.com/news/donald-tr...173916750.html Donald Trump sues Hillary Clinton, others over 2016 Russian collusion allegations WASHINGTON (Reuters) -Donald Trump on Thursday sued his rival in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, Hillary Clinton, and several other Democrats, alleging that they tried to rig that election by tying his campaign to Russia. ... A 966-page report issued by a Republican-led U.S. Senate committee in 2020 concluded that Russia used Republican political operative Paul Manafort and the WikiLeaks website to try to help Trump win the 2016 election. ... Mueller said in his report that "the Russian government perceived it would benefit from a Trump presidency and worked to secure that outcome, and that the campaign expected it would benefit electorally from information stolen and released through Russian efforts.” |

Let's have some Discovery!
Seriously, this is such a playground effort by Trump to disavow his decades of Putin worship and allegiance. |

This is a bit of a tangential link for a thread about the post-Trump era, but... there's some value in recognizing more about how we got here.

That's obsessive to the extreme.
It seems to be almost a given that preachers who rail against drugs get caught wired to the max; against homosexuality get caught with rent boys; against adultery get caught with multiple affairs; and against taxation for religion get caught in illegal tax-avoidance schemes. So this could possibly be a desperate attempts by Abbott to hide his own proclivities towards gender-fluidity. Wonder if he is like the FBI's Hoover - looks a fright in a frock. (Yes, I know cross-dressing isn't necessarily transgender; just making a funny point.) |

“Whatever is not forbidden is compulsory.” They're convinced that everyone is really just as authoritarian as they are, so if people are allowed to undergo gender reassignment, then soon everyone will be forced to undergo gender reassignment. Or have a same-sex marriage, or whatever they're railing against at the moment. |

It might be comforting to dismiss right wing conspiracism as the purview of powerless nobodies, but that simply ain't so. Crank theories about cabals of pedophiles or stolen elections penetrate all strata of the right wing political community. Conspiracy theories and fantastical views play an important role in fascist movements. ETA: Ginni isn't your average dogwhistling right winger, she's pilled to the gills:

Many of these idiots are as ignorant of transgenders as they are ignorant about homosexuality being a 'choice'.
Take Ted Cruz's questions in the Jackson hearing: Cruz (paraphrased): Can I decide to be Asian? |

Just look at the claims some of them have made that transgender women are either gay men trying to trick straight men into having sex with them, or straight men trying to gain covert access to women's locker rooms, restrooms, and dressing rooms for purposes of sexual assault. (Transgender men apparently don't exist in their world.) |

I've said it before and I'll say it again: a person can be educated and IQ intelligent yet still be into irrational conspiracist thinking. Why? Because our emotional and psychological 'health' play an extremely important part in how we see things.
Virginia Thomas' emails reveal a woman consumed with fear and irrational conspiracist thinking. Consider the following:

Right-wing singer's rant during a concert shows just how crazy some of these right-wing nut jobs are. What's just as nuts is his audience cheering him on as he goes full on conspiracy whacko on everything from supporting Putin, to not-so-subtle antisemitism, to anti-vaccine "poison" claims, to anti-Biden 'deep state' conspiracies.

It’s Aaron Lewis, former lead on a numetal band who bizarrely got a hit about yelling at his TV because Confederate statues were being taken down. Todd in the Shadows did a real number on him a year ago.
After this rant Todd tweeted that when Aaron said he loved the red white and blue he must have meant the Russian Federation flag. |

Guess what?
We are going back to the 'good old days' where Trump was begging for political help from Putin. But in this case, however, Trump is now asking Putin for help in smearing Joe Biden. To wit: https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/...155858840.html Trump Is Now Asking Putin to Dig Up Dirt on the Biden Family Donald Trump famously called on Russia to find Hillary Clinton’s emails ahead of the 2016 election. He’s now calling on Vladimir Putin to dig up dirt on President Biden’s family. The ask came during an interview with Just the News on Real America’s Voice, with the former president citing a Senate report that found a Russian oligarch once gave $3.5 million to a company he claims was founded by Biden’s son, Hunter. “Why did the mayor of Moscow’s wife give the Bidens, both of them, $3.5 million? That’s a lot of money,” Trump said. “She gave him $3.5 million so I would think Putin would know the answer to that,” Trump said. “I think he should release it. I think we should know that answer.” ... Trump’s latest call for Putin’s help comes as the Russia authoritarian is bombarding Ukraine in an unprovoked war that has resulted in thousands of deaths. Trump has repeatedly refused to condemn Putin throughout the invasion. Maybe it’s because he still wants his help. |

Have we covered Mississippi Republican Robert Foster yet? Former representative and fortunately failed gubernatorial candidate Foster calls for the execution by firing squad of people "grooming" children to be transsexual. In his initial statement, because he is so stupid he cannot possibly understand what he is saying, he includes in this grooming "encouraging them to believe that they can wear the clothing of the “opposite sex," apparently to utterly stupid to realize that what he's saying is that there should be a state law on clothing, and that parents who let their girls wear pants should be gunned down. He seems sort of to walk that back later, to say that the holy massacre should be limited to people he thinks are actually encouraging or allowing their children in the abomination.
Welcome to Gilead! Of course his idea won't get much traction at least right now, so there's nothing to worry about. Go back to sleep. |

In view of all the pessimism I offer one piece of hope:
I think your average Amereican does not like being told what to do, does not like intrusive govenrment and IMHO the GOP will run into this. |

Optimist!
Real freedom is not really utilitarian. You find it at the edges, not the middle. Too many people subscribe to the "I have nothing to hide" philosophy of freedom. Just make a law that says everyone must do what you prefer to do anyway, and people will lap it up and call it liberty without even noticing. |

So, Trump is asking a dictator he acknowledges to be an enemy of the US for political assistance against the president of the US.

I am sure that quite a few people clearly recall Donald Trump calling Putin a "genius", "smart", or otherwise lionizing Putin on at least a few occassions.
And now, in typical weird spin in the Trump universe, Trump is now denying that he called Putin a "genius". https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-den...214302904.html Trump denies calling Putin a 'genius' ... On Wednesday, Trump released a statement in which he parsed the semantics of using the word "genius" when referring to Putin's military strategy. ... "Unfortunately, and tragically, Putin went too far, acting on the WEAK Foreign Policy of the Biden Administration. The Fake News said I called him a genius during the war. No, I was describing the great negotiating posture he had prior to the unfortunate decision to enter Ukraine and fight. There was nothing 'genius' about that!" ... Trump's praise of Putin was not an isolated incident, either. As recently as last weekend, for instance, Trump reiterated his view that the Russian autocrat is "smart." ... "Putin was very nice to me, he said Donald Trump is a genius," Trump said then. ... |
