PHDs are subject to ecomomic forces like everything else, and a lot of PHDs are simply not needed in their area of speciality by the economy.
Yes no one should expect those teaching college to earn a living wage.

Not really, no. How about you address the example I gave first, would you accept that guy in or not?
If not, where do you draw the line and how is your position fundamentally different from mine?

Absolute positions tend to be equally bad - "we must accept everybody, no matter what" is just as misguided as "no one comes in alive".

Lines must be drawn somewhere, it's not my fault some people abuse that necessity and draw them in thorughly inappropriate places.
