Just for fun, I wonder if anyone knows how many lumens would be emitted from the igniting of 100 tons of nanothermite all at once? That's still 200,000 pounds, or 1000 pounds per story. At, say, 500 pounds of thermite per story being used for the core destruction, how bright would the core be in that aerial picture of the collapse-- you know, the one where the top of the collapsing core is exposed and not shrouded in dust?
Not sure exactly but, I don't remember it reported as seen from space.............

Niels Harrit: Tons! Hundreds of tons! Many, many, many tons!

I am referencing a calculation that Niels Harrit emailed to me and various others on 7/26/2011. He calculated the amount of thermitic material that would have been necessary to account for the quantity of iron-rich spheres in the WTC dust, assuming of course that the iron reaction product of the thermite reaction was the source of the spheres. The range of thermitic material that he calculated was from 29,000 metric tons to 143,000 metric tons per Twin Tower, d
Anyone have the email

Ah, I see what you mean. My mistake, I thought you meant he was claiming 100 tons per floor.

Careful! The "Hundreds of tons!" in the RT-intervier is the amount of conventional explosives, not nanothermite, that Harrit speculates about.

Careful again: T Mark Hightower is in the Jim Fetzer camp, a nuker and thus a Harrit-enemy. While his calculation appears to be done correctly (order of magnitude at least), perhaps one should be skeptical about the starting numbers he attributes to Harrit and uses as premises. When Hightower claims that Harrit's numbers of total mass of microspheres means something like 5 kilotons TNT equivalent (which is almost the same as thermite equivalent), keep in mind that this latter is not Harrit's claim. Hightower needs such high numbers to justify his own nuclear beliefs.

For what it's worth: At Harrit's recent court hearing in March, his witness, University of Copenhagen physics professor Per Hedegård said that "that the nano-thermite trace content in WTC dust would imply more than 60 tons of un-exploded material prior to a detonation", according to a university newspaper article:
http://universitypost.dk/article/cou...pot-libel-case

The "Active Thermitic Material" paper itself says on page 23:
"the fraction of red/gray chips was approximately 0.1% by weight in the separated dust".
But they don't provide an estimate of the total amount of dust.

What would be the estimated amount of dust mites per ton?

Frankly, who cares how they estimate the total amount of their magic dust?

Total amount of actual thermite.............. 0.

Of course.
Harrit et al are wrong - for more than one or two reasons. Any way you look at it, the claims are utterly insane.

My understanding is that Chris seeks to expose several of the ways in which Harrit is wrong. And one would be to point out the utter madness implied by those huge estimated quantities. It takes, however, genuine and sourced quotes to make a sound argument.

Hey Chris, I found a phone call recording where Mark Basile actually says "they [Harrit et al] didn't show actually that there was elemental aluminium within the basic matrix of the chips themselves"

Ha! I got more...
Here is a phone conference call with Niels Harrit:
http://houston911truth.net/audio/081714.mp3 (37 MB mp3 file; minutes here)

In a discussion about fallout from mini nukes (which Harrit thinks is a stupid idea), he says at 23:35:

I just had to laugh when they talked about silicates in the dust temp concrete was used at world trade center.
A mixture of fly ash, silicate and lime.
